The song came out in the summer of 1982. The group is from the Bronx in New York City. The group consisted of Grandmaster Flash (The D.J.), Melle Mel, Rahiem, The Kidd Creole, Scorpio, and the late Cowboy. Flash wears black in the video. The way they dressed was their gimmick looking like rock stars. The early stages of hip hop.
Peace God✊🏾 I just listened to Chuck & Red Alert talk about these dudes and they style of dress was Funk/Disco. And they talked about all them 1st Generation niggas being strungout on Coke & Dust too!🤦🏾♂️🤣
Greatest hip hop song of all time, I don’t care what anyone says! This was EARLY 80s...one of the most iconic beats ever and the rapping here was better than 95% of the shit that came out in the last 40 years! This song was fuckin PROPHETIC
the fact that you laughing at situations that was really going on says a lot about you black man and you not young either very suprised at your reaction

My husband knows Grandmaster Flash..he's a nice guy. So you're hard to watch. And you know what? 40yrs from now someone will be laughing at YOUR outfit!
You can tell this guy showing video didn't have to live this way like we did in the 70s or 80 huh and he wants to laugh at there outfit this brotha wouldn't have made it back then how we grew up if you know what im talking about white or black people it was hard back then
Is it me or is this guy missing the point? Some really serious lyrics about how hard life can be in a deprived area and he can’t stop laughing at the fashions! Fashions change! People will laugh at what today’s rappers are wearing in 40 years time. 🤦♂️
Nah Little Simon......YOU MISSED THE POINT! Thanks for the View & Comment! If any of my other Reactions look interesting to you, do me a favor and check it out and let me know what you think.
This east coast clown tearing into everyone while wearing a played out Yankees cap and a shitty 2 dollar shirt..learn some respect assclown…the mumble rap idiots you probably worship aren’t worthy to wipe these guys asses with their tongue
@@araabMUZIKHD Really he got nerves to talk when he sitting there wearing the same style and color tshirt we had to wear in my jr high school p.e. class in the 80's! That's when P.E. was still in school and everyone had to "dress out" and put on you p.e. uniform! It was that tshirt and navy blue shorts! Lol hilarious!
@@rioreactions6914 :) yes true, let me rephrase my self, its classic to mee because this Kurtis Blow, Sugar Hill Gang was my first interaction with the Culture and I felt love in it :)
On the radios version of The Message. Verse 4 was taken out to shorten the play time (My son said "daddy I don't want to go to school). A maytag is basically somebody's prison b!tch! He got turned out in jail. Then the victim decides he can't take the hell and feels the only way out is to "retire from life". That last verse is very depressing but it happens in real life.
Nice Breakdown! I personally will DIE before I became somebody's "Maytag" and washed anotha nigga Draws! Thanks for the View & Comment! If any of my other Reactions look interesting to you, do me a favor and check it out and let me know what you think.
Good message i remember when it came out you did make me laugh though about how they dressed I'm surprised you haven't played any Paris songs like The Devil Made Me Do It!!!
And for some reason your other Comment isn't showing up here but you are right these dudes nowadays couldn't relate to 99% of what they rappin about. This joint is HIP-HOP GOSPEL!📖🔥 Thanks for the View & Comment! If any of my other Reactions look interesting to you, do me a favor and check it out and let me know what you think.
@@rioreactions6914 I'm from europe and from the 80s bboy era. But you can see grandmaster flash in many old school videos here. He was the DJ. The second rapper Duke Bootee is not in the video. He made also many parts of the beat with 2 other musicians from the label sugar hill. Drummachine , Synthesizer and Bass-Guitar.
There's video about the production. "Creating the Message - An interview with Duke Bootee" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I0fX-2xNj5U.html
Man, you are missing the point here. This is a classic rap song. It's about living in the getto at that time. I'm not from the USA and I'm not black but even I do get the point here. It seems there's not much progress made. You're comments about clothes and hairstyle sounds really ignorant. Sorry about that man.
Bet....I'm gone add it to the list asap! Thanks for the View & Comment! If any of my other Reactions look interesting to you, do me a favor and check it out and let me know what you think.

@@stallion_of_stat_ That's a BOLD Statement but I believe you w/o even hearing it because Kane, Nas & Hov act like G-Rap from another planet or some shit when they talk about his ass🤣
