The Message of The Quran - Part 27: Surah al-Mujādilah - Taḥrīm (28th Juz) | Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi 

Lecture 27 Surah Al-Mujadila, Al-Hashr, Al-Mumtahanah, Surah As-Saf, Al-Jumu’ah, Al-Munafiqun, At-Tahrim • All Madani Surahs Surah Al-Mujadila (The pleading women). • Issues regarding marriage. • 22verses. • The lady who was arguing. • Khawlah bint tha'alabah was the lady. • Aisha RA said that when the woman was complaining Aisha RA was in nearby but she couldn't clearly hear what the lady was complaining but Allah had heard her complaint and replied to it. • She was complaining about a pre Islamic custom in which a man became angry he would after a phrase called "Lihar" which would make her a nor a wife neither she is allowed to leave.( The saying by a husband to his wife, "You are to me like the back of my mother," meaning unlawful to approach. This was a type of divorce practiced by the Arabs before the prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ). • Our prophet ﷺ didn't had a ruling on this case, and as the pleadings proceeded Allah revealed this surah. • Allah tells that is an evil practice. It's a unislamic. • Najwa- secret meeting by quraish to destroy Islam. • Lots of reference to Allah's knowledge. • It is not possible for people who believes in Allah to be loyal to people who are enemies of Allah and his messenger. Surah Al-Hashr (The Exile). • Deals with expulsion of Jewish tribe Bani An-Nadir, after the battle of uhud because they betrayed the treaty with the prophet ﷺ. • Very clearly praise the muhajiroon and ansar.v8. For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their properties, seeking bounty from Allah and [His] approval and supporting Allah and His Messenger, [there is also a share].Those are the truthful. • V.9. And [also for] those who were settled in the Home [i.e., al-Madinah] and [adopted] the faith before them. They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their breasts of what they [i.e., the emigrants] were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful. • Dua.V.10. And [there is a share for] those who came after them, saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful." • We are commanded to love the companions. • Ends with beautiful names of Allah. Over 15 names of Allah.V.21-24. • Surah Al-Mumtahanah. (She that is to be examined). • After the trarty of hudaybiyyah emigrent Muslim women may not be returned to the disbelievers. • One law was any person who migrated from Makkah to madinah should return to makkah. • If women migrates then.v.10. O you who have believed, when the believing women come to you as emigrants, examine [i.e., test] them. Allah is most knowing as to their faith. And if you know them to be believers, then do not return them to the disbelievers; they are not lawful [wives] for them, nor are they lawful [husbands] for them. But give them [i.e., the disbelievers] what they have spent. And there is no blame upon you if you marry them when you have given them their due compensation [i.e., mahr]. And hold not to marriage bonds with disbelieving women, but ask for what you have spent and let them [i.e., the disbelievers] ask for what they have spent. That is the judgment of Allah; He judges between you. And Allah is Knowing and Wise. • Relationship between Muslims and non Muslims. • V.1. O you who have believed, do not take My enemies and your enemies as allies, extending to them affection while they have disbelieved in what came to you of the truth, having driven out the Prophet and yourselves [only] because you believe in Allah, your Lord. If you have come out for jihad [i.e., fighting or striving] in My cause and seeking means to My approval, [take them not as friends]. You confide to them affection [i.e., instruction], but I am most knowing of what you have concealed and what you have declared. And whoever does it among you has certainly strayed from the soundness of the way. • V.8. Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly. • V.9. Allah only forbids you from those who fight you because of religion and expel you from your homes and aid in your expulsion - [forbids] that you make allies of them. And whoever makes allies of them, then it is those who are the wrongdoers. • V.7. Perhaps Allah will put, between you and those to whom you have been enemies among them, affection. And Allah is competent, and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. Surah As-Saf (The Ranks) • Misabbihath surah. • To be faithful to the promise of Allah. • V.2. O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do? • Islam.V.9. It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although those who associate others with Allah dislike it. Surah Al-Jumu’ah (Friday). • A large caravan arrived madinah. • Hypocrytes who were in the masjid left the masjid to buy and sell as the prophet ﷺ was delivering kuthbah. • Salatul jumuah.V.9. O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumuah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew. • Find bounty of Allah.v.10. And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allah, and remember Allah often that you may succeed. • Death.v.8. Say, "Indeed, the death from which you flee - indeed, it will meet you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you about what you used to do." Surah Al-Munafiqun (The hypocrites). • Warns the hypocrites. • 15 characteristics of hypocrites. • Last 3 verses. 9. O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. And whoever does that - then those are the losers. • 10. And spend [in the way of Allah] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous." • 11. But never will Allah delay a soul when its time has come.And Allah is Acquainted with what you do. • Charity. Surah At-Tagabun (Mutual Disillusion). • Kuffar v/s believer. • Day of mutual loss and gain.V.9. The Day He will assemble you for the Day of Assembly - that is the Day of Deprivation. And whoever believes in Allah and does righteousness - He will remove from him his misdeeds and admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment. Calamity.v.11. No disaster strikes except by permission of Allah. And whoever believes in Allah - He will guide his heart. And Allah is Knowing of all things. • Some members of our family would a trial for us.v.14. O you who have believed, indeed, among your spouses and your children are enemies to you, so beware of them. But if you pardon and overlook and forgive - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. • 15. Your wealth and your children are but a trial, and Allah has with Him a great reward. • 16. So fear Allah as much as you are able and listen and obey and spend [in the way of Allah]; it is better for your selves. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful. • 17. If you loan Allah a goodly loan, He will multiply it for you and forgive you. And Allah is Most Appreciative and Forbearing, Surah At-Talaq • Divorce and rulings. • Justice towards women is emphasized. • Blessings of those who have thaqwa.v.2. And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out Surah At-Tahrim (The Prohibition). • Isuue between Aisha RA Hafsa RA. • Take care of family.v.6. O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded. • Negative and positive female role models.V.11. And Allah presents an example of those who believed: the wife of Pharaoh, when she said, "My Lord, build for me near You a house in Paradise and save me from Pharaoh and his deeds and save me from the wrongdoing people." • 12. And [the example of] Mary, the daughter of Imran, who guarded her chastity, so We blew into [her garment] through Our angel [i.e., Gabriel], and she believed in the words of her Lord and His scriptures and was of the devoutly obedient. If I had heard the part about non-Muslim friends after I reverted, it would have spared me a lot of anxiety and stress. A Sheikh with extreme views on the subject said angrily that we better not have non-Muslim friends, and it sent me down a long road of depression and anxiety because pretty much all of my friends were non-Muslim. It was a real crisis of faith and alhamdulilah I'm glad I made it through it. But honestly, ayahs 60:8-9 carried me through that because I kept coming back to them to reassure my heart. But these kinds of attitudes can truly damage someone and, God forbid, may even make them lose their Islam.

May Allah reward those who are involved in bringing these wonderful lectures to the masses. Ameen.

May Allah reward the Shaykh and the EPIC team for a soul warming series. I have completed a talawah of the whole Qur'an for many years in Ramadan (a common practise in Pakistan homes, may Allah reward my mother for introducing us to this practise) BUT this is the first year I feel I have actually come closer to understanding the Qur'an and there is a yearning in me to learn more and implement its teachings. So I'll start as the Shaykh suggests removing hypocrisy from the heart and aiming for a qalbin salim. Has anyone identified all 15 characteristics of the hypocrites in Surah Al- Munafiqun, I can only find 6, liars, break oaths, cry wolf, pride, rebellious/disobedient to Allah, miserly, the other 9 please??

I have a question, we have a lot of non Muslim friends who are not amongst the those who are enemies of Islam. How should we behave when we visit them during their religious festivities where alcohol and gambling is also going on. How should we wish them on say Diwali or Christmas

just curious the Sheikh says in every land there are Muslims which I saw there are some villages or maybe some other land that have no islam so I think the sheikh is wrong with what he said there anyways I pray islam does reach in EVERY single land ameen I'm happy dawah can reach anywhere. I've seen e.g. abdirahman green's video about a group of people who never heard of islam became muslims after hearing about it from them & showing them how islam works mashaAllah!

Who is the Qari recited Surah Al-Hashar?

Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: *"A man follows the religion of his friend; so each one should consider whom he makes his friend."* (Sunan Abi Dawud 4833) Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said: *"A man is upon the religion of his friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends."* (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2378) How can a muslim ever make a disbeliever his close friends when the Prophet said this about friends? The people that i know in my personal life that have gone astray has been because of either kafir friends or fasiq friends. For the shaykh to say that it is totally acceptable to take kuffar as friends is very *VERY* problematic. And to use Abu Talib as an example is just wrong. Abu Talib was the Prophets UNCLE not his friend! Abu Talib was a father figure not a friend! I am not friends with my father, i am a SON to my father subhan Allah it's not the same. Also being acquaintance with a disbeliever is not the same as befriending them. I am acquaintance with my classmates, co-workers, neighbors, etc,. but i am not friends with them! There is a difference that the people need to understand. Saying you should be friends with them is contradicting the Prophet and is extremely dangerous to the eeman of the youth.
