In this new four-part lecture series, David discusses how the concept of the messiah emerges in Jewish History, beginning with the biblical period.

This first lecture examines the appearance of the messianic idea in Tanach, charting its metamorphosis towards a universal application.
David explores the development of the Jewish messianic picture throughout the books of the Hebrew Bible, including in:
- The Book of Samuel and its discussion of the ultimate messianic figure, King David
- The Book of Kings and its depiction of one of the most exceptional Jewish monarchs, King Hezekiah
- The Book of Isaiah, a contemporary of Hezekiah, whose visions of messianic prophecy are foundational to Jewish eschatology
- The Book of Jeremiah on messianic and Davidic lineage
- The Book of Ezekiel on David the shepherd and prince
- The Book of Daniel's eschatological visions for the future
- The Book of Zechariah, who made clear pronouncements on the coming of a messiah
- The Book of Haggai, with its messianic vision of the role ascribed to the Davidic descendent, Zerubavel, charged with rebuilding Jerusalem and the Second Temple.
He also considers the messianic role ascribed to Cyrus, king of the Babylonian Empire, in Tanach and later in Jewish History.
Additionally, the lecture examines discussions by modern scholars of the implications when biblical ideas of messianism become reimaged as contemporary visions for Zionism.

Hi Marjorie, it’s been a while since I’ve seen anything published on this channel. I hope it’s because of David’s work on the translation and not because anything bad happened to him. Thank you very much for all the work you’ve been doing in organising his materials so systematically, and for making them accessible to all of us. I truly believe he is a genius and in my view no other scholar has explained Jewish history in such a comprehensive and enjoyable manner,accessible even to simple people like myself. I’ve been returning to his lectures year after year for over a decade and I’m really grateful for everything.❤

This is really powerful and helpful teaching on how to cry out to God of Abraham for the Redemption of all our children and grandchildren and for our Nations. Ukrainian people should do as King Hezekiah. I'm doing this for all my 3 children and grandchildren and the world 🌎 salvation everyone else too . Please open the eyes of the 12 tribes in Exile and in Israel? Shema. I'm uneducated but want to learn more about what you are teaching. Thank you

Great lecture, just a little suggestion if I may, when you quote from the Torah in Hebrew please give the translation to English, you have actually done that towards the end but not at the beginning. I watch all your lectures and activities with a lot of interest and passion, thank you. 🌺

As a messianic Jew born in the Light I delight in the Lord Messiah Yeshua who when he was In heaven in the beginning spoke to the people through our prophets in more than 70 prophecies some which extend into New Testament that He was the Messiah as he declared it to the woman in Samaria when she spoke of the messiah Jesus spoke this very words, to her, “ I that is speaking to you am he”. In Psalms 22:16” ….they have pierced my hands and my feet” in Isaiah 2:11 For unto us a child is born, a son is given; and the government shall be on his shoulders’ and his name shall be called Wonderful counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. When GOD ask Abraham to sacrifice his son as a sacrifice it was a fire shadow of a solution I had as a young men, what gift could GOD offer that would be equivalent to what He ask Abraham since GOD is ONE, then he answered in Isaiah 2:11, Yeshua came into the world as GOD’s sacrifice for the forgiveness of men’s sin and to restore our relationship with Him. Amen.

The Christian “god” is three in one: the father, the son and the Holy Spirit. 1+1+1=3 NOT ONE. Christianity is mostly Greek and pagan. Paul is the Joseph Smith of his time, it’s a hustle and a business. I was Christian for 40 years. Not any more

@@SuzetteBouknight-no9fdwhich of the three is bad in your opinion? God the father? Jesus? Or the holy spirit? The one thing Christian's did bad was to switch the sabbath from Saturday to Sunday but some christians like myself still worship on Saturday. The truth of the matter though is that the prophesy about jesus in Isaiah 1-2 was fulfilled in the the new testament. Then jesus himself predicted about the destruction of the second temple which came to pass. He also accurately predicted about his second coming and the signs of the end times in Matthew 24.

I love the way David teaches. I haven't heard another Jewish man speaking of eschatology, and even the Brit Ha'Dasha. And also how incredibly intelligent he is in his knowledge of history. Yeshua is Messiah and in Zechariah 14 we see when He returns to bring the world peace and prosperity, and a restoration of the world into the world like it was supposed to ultimately be, before the fall into sin by Adam. Yeshua is the second Adam, and in Him is all righteousness. He is our Cohen ha'Gadol and Sar Shalom.

That is exactly what the Vedas say, the oldest scripture in the world. All transformation takes place inside, within each individual as they work to evolve their awareness. The work involves purifying oneself from ignorance. This is the practice of meditation and self development.

Just found some more messianic references prior to Gen 1:3. In Gen 1:1 the 4th word in Hebrew is not translatable but as I understand uses the first and last letters of the alphabet: Alef, Tav. Jesus is the beginning and end … the alef and the tav. He is the untranslatable Word that is with Elohim and the Word that was Elohim. The Jews who wrote our New Testament taught us this, please see John 1:1, Rev 21:6. Another keen seeker has found that the pictographs of the characters forming the first word of Genesis 1:1, Bereshit (“In beginning”) imply: “the son”, “destroyed/fire”, by the “hand of God”, by the “cross”. Further, Isaiah 46:10 says that God declares the end from “the beginning”. We are born in His image, our body is His temple. The flesh has its own Will, and so it follows the law of its flesh. This must be crucified so that divine Will can be expressed in our mortal flesh. That is the goal of our truthseeking. The great news is the Spirit of God (Truth) dwells in all who believe, therefore our earthy will can be Holy! The flesh that simply manifest the Life of the Spirit of God are the bride of Christ. (It’s my goal to manifest this life and privilege to learn more about how it happens)

If you only read Torah you will be lost unless Yeshua(Jesus)saves you. David has a human mind and wants to explain it all with his own knowledge however great it is just man’s knowledge and to says there is no messiah is foolhardy, it but be easier for him to fly to the moon and come back to earth on his own power, as impossible as what he is trying to do, prove there is no messiah or will be. GOD bless you David , Jesus loves you and died for your sins.

@DavidSolomononline Thank you so much! Pls, what do you suppose is the nature of our heart, does it have 2 parts? How does one actually please God and live righteously? Our doing (body of life-work in heaven) comes from the relationship we have with Truth in our heart. Our earthy heart is corruptible and follows a lie. Redemption would be dying but then God moving in with Truth. New covenant is living in willing obedience to Truth, faith like Abraham … rooted in love. The problem is seeing when my second part (mind, will, emotion) is actually loving God and not thinking doing and feeling it’s own idea. As one lives with Truth one will find how the mind is under “the law of flesh”, the law of that part that is supposed to be dead. Therefore the mind is renewed in co-death, seeing earthy law at work is to see the root cause of sin. Turning from sin (dying) produces righteousness, heavenly life by faith! How is this possible? The glorious answer is that the first part was raised with Him, our earthy spirit is in heaven, Holy! Following the Spirit of Truth, reveals that we are dead, raised and ascended with him. Therefore the heart has heaven yearning for it to think, feel, and do the Will, Mind and feelings of God. The possibilities are without measure, if we believe! Another interesting note: one of the first messianic indicators would be Gen 1:3, “let there be Light”! Light is God’s Truth that causes the trees to grow (light plus living water). Lord, Help us to follow your Light! Wash us in the reality of your word. Amen

The end times and the last days were the end of the Old Covenant when Jesus the Messiah came. It was the beginning of the end. The final desolation was AD70. JESUS came in judgment upon oral law Judaism for persecuting the bride of Christ comprised of both Hebrew and Gentile believers. Jesus's kingdom is spiritual and the Jews were expecting a restoration of their national sovereignty as they had under Solomon. They misunderstood how the nations would be blessed through Abraham's seed, Jesus Christ. Jesus came right on time according to Daniel. Jesus was literally the temple of God as he was God in the flesh. Jesus ushered in the New Testament and all nations were indeed blessed. The Northern tribes (Samaritans) were brought into Jesus's kingdom and theyvwere brought in beforevthe Gentiles were. Read the New Testament.

How will sin be removed without a Temple, we are in the processes to erect the Third and final Temple, but GOD in His infinite wisdom and loving kindness sent His Son as the sacrifice and our sins are removed to the promises of eternal life and a home in HIS kingdom of a New Heaven and a new earth and the sun or moon will provide light but GOD himself will be our light and there shall no more be death, no more suffering, no more sin for all those things will be thrown into the lake of fire. The end times are coming soon, all who accept Yeshua will be saved.

David Solomon is great in history in Old Testament theology, the Torah, but he is still rooted to the earthly knowledge of the Old Testament and has remained there but the rest of it is fulfilled in the New Testament/New Covenant as were the Jews in the time Yeshua and though thousands accepted Him but many more did not believe him even though He raise the dead. Now my brothers in black in Jerusalem do not believe even since GOD sent his Son, gave them many prophecies, has saved millions of Christians and Jews, warns them of the end and what happens in the New World order. David is wrong there is a Messiah and He already came and is coming again. David needs the Holy Spirit to open his eyes.
