Wow, she married so young and had a full family by 30 and was the bread winner just to be shut out of her own finances. It makes wonder why we as women give up our power so easily. I don't get it either cause best believe if you wasn't with me shooting in the gym you ain't getting half of shit if we split. Atleast 25-50% of my funds would be unreported in my marriage or it will be made clear that yo money is yo money and vice versa...we can have a joint bank account or two but everything else separate.

People forget that her first husband was the bread winner, her manager and initially served as her image restorer. The Miss America organization hired him not her parents because they wanted to protect their organization from the scandal. He was an established businessman. The reality is that Vanessa was always ambitious. Her first husband put her on the map, he was older and once she got a sure foundation, she didn't need him anymore. The other husbands served a purpose, Rick Fox was great to be seen with publicly but he had already learned the lesson of protecting his finances and it was over quickly. She now has someone with enough money to share generously. That's why she said when she's 90 we'll see not at 90 years I hope to still be with him. It's all about the bag,what's love got to do with it?

I remember this interview she had with I can't remember who (I want to say Oprah because she interviews everybody) where she spoke about her marriages to Andre and Rick. After her divorces she said they all spent a Thanksgiving together and the guys stayed overnight. She laughed about it and said she was over both of them, she did it for the kids. What I admire about her is she's very forthcoming. She didn't evade or refuse to answer any question that was asked of her. She is really a national treasure.

I remember when she was crowned Miss America. As soon as she was giving that title, suddenly she lost it. I went from being extremely happy for her to being in total shock. Vanessa had experience different issues in each of her relationships/marriages and had 4 beautiful kids as a result. Sometimes you have to go through a few bad apples until you find the right one. I was sad to hear that her marriage to Rick Fox didn't work out cause the brother was fine as hell and they made a good looking couple. But at the end of the day, Vanessa found happiness again and I like the idea that she considered her youngest daughter before deciding to date again because a lot of women makes that mistake of dating so soon after a breakup and bringing a man around their young daughters too soon. Smart woman 💯

I don’t think her marriage to Shipp will last. She talks about how she approached him. How she got his number. How she invited him to her hotel for dinner on his last night. That man was going to check out of that hotel without even asking her out. She was the hunter. From her interviews, She seems like she has to be in control. Men don’t like to be chased unless they’re really beta. I don’t see it lasting.

I love Vanessa!! I have been a fan since she became Miss America in the 80s. We are almost the same age. She is and always be the most famous Miss America ever without a doubt. However, I was disappointed a few months ago when she posted a wedding pic on IG of her and Rick Fox’s marriage twenty years ago! I was like, wow! Why would she do that? It was in very poor taste. I thought then maybe there was trouble in paradise in her current marriage to Jim. I wish her well and hope she finds happiness.

Wow, she did that??? Maybe there's trouble in paradise and she's living with regrets of it not working with Rick. Maybe he was her favorite? They do share a beautiful daughter together, so they will always share that connection. I don't know him, but I bet if anything were to happen to her, Rick would be there for her in a heartbeat. Just my two pesos.

@@AlmondJoie I met a dancer in a gentleman's club in the Chicago area and her friend was Rick fox's girlfriend in Miami and she said he had a different girlfriend in every NBA city.This was when he was married to Vanessa. There was no chance that marriage was ever going to work.

I applaud Vanessa for not being afraid to reach out and embrace love. The main thing is that she kept a man in her life. This let her children know that Mom needed someone too. The biggest mistake some women make is to not have a man in their life after a divorce. What happens with that is the children become very possessive of Mom and don't want her to see anyone. That's what I did and my children threatened to run every man away that showed interest in me. I am divorced but haven't been married since 1984. Thanks to the kids. They are grown now and living their own lives.

Vanessa Williams is just a true class act. I loved her character in Desperate House Wives. Her life is a testament of a true “we fall down, but we get up” story. Life is so interesting in that she was stripped of her title of the first Ms Black America because of the nude photo scandal but yet she is probably the most known Ms. America because of how her life has transcended that notorious scandal. Do any of you know any other Ms America’s name (past or present) without having to Google it? I doubt it. This just goes to show us how the Almighty can position your life in a way to allow you to make a powerful message out of your mess. Her’s is one of triumph over tragedy time and time again.

I don't think all failed marriages are a failure on either part. Things just don't workout the way we hope. She has beautiful children and they're well taken care of.
