It is getting to the point where I am jonesing for Jay's next video!! Great review of a beautiful instrument. Your videos are always top notch and I thoroughly enjoy your nasty nasty tone on all the stuff you play. Well done, Jay. Please keep them coming. Rock on!!
£600. I guessed this price before i knew it was a FR Special. That'll need replacing after a few string change. I'm guessing Ash is a cheap wood, it seems to be widely used on budget guitars.
How difficult is it to change strings on a Floyd, really? Isn't it worth it to have almost perfect tuning stability? I think so. I have Floyd guitars blocked for gigging, in situations where no whammy is required, just to stay in tune. That tuning stability is priceless.
I love secrets, Jay~! Once told, they're no longer a secret, unless its from Van Halen. Then its always secrets. 😉😉 Another little secret, though. It's not for sale in the USA yet it says. 😥
$500 is my guess. Beautiful finish and color combo. I can't get into fret markers that are under the Low E string. I need to see it in the middle of the fretboard.
$ 499. 00 definately a love hate relationship with Floyds. I keep them on the guitars that i have them on but i will never buy or use a Floyd again. im annoyed with them now and days.. " Changing strings is like an Olympic sport" Lol!! Exactly! No S**T!! haha. Awesome Vid again J..
Thank you Jay for all you do for us guitar players like showing us how to play certain songs from one of my favorite 80's band Dokken or new amps & pedals. I appreciate you and your talent. Thank you again 🙏 👍 🎸
If you have fret rock should definitely send the guitar back no matter what guitar it is. Don’t let any company get away with that. It’s the most important part of the guitar.
Seems like a great piece of gear at that price, I was thinking it was about triple what it costs. Suppose it's a little surprising the back cavity is two pieces, seems it would be cheaper to just do it in one and more convenient. Hard to be a stickler for its sticker though, rock on Jay!
that is so good for the price. You're getting a good base to custom the crap out of. Yeah Id defo move that toggle and throw a screamin demon in the bridge and Si is a happy boy 🔥😂🤘 Awesome track bro
A-haaahhhhh ! Finally a review. I got mine in June this year; here in Germany for 326€. It looks and feels absolute fantastic. Little budget-faults (binding-paint w. not a clean edge...), just don't really matter... It stays in tune for a VERY long time. The pickups do a great job Fretboard great, neck just right, not as thin as Jackson, for example (i love my Kelly, anyway!) Fast attack, incredible Sustain (don't want/have to buy a FR Fat Brass)... Don't know where to stop. (Not only) for this price, the BEST i EVER had ! (had: Fender Strat '80 Charvel Randy Rhoads '90 ESP Horizon '92 (ok that also a gem...) Jackson Kelly 2011.) Brings my ENGL Thunder to glow in the dark (ok, there is also a MXR 108 in the effects-loop 😉). Try and BUY ! Metal !!! 🎸🎸🎸
Probably a very thin veneer, or decal top. Cannot be a "top" so to speak. Would like to see if all units have identical fronts. But yeah, not a good piece.
@@jfo3000 I just don't like how everybody's turned commercial. Everybody acts like they have to read from a script and make hands gestures and smile and its gross. We're a bunch of dudes we just want to see some other dude play guitar and mess with his gear. We don't want to see a commercial selling garbage. Leave the advertising to the corporations and the marketers.
Hey @truescotsman4103, I really appreciate you sticking around since the early days man. And I'm sad to see you go, but I wanted to chat to you about some of your points. Man, the last decade has been quite a journey! I've definitely evolved as both a guitarist and a content creator. It's all been about growing and trying to bring more value to viewers like you. Yep! You're right, I do script my videos now. Good catch! It helps me cover all the important details and present in a more coherent way - no more having to shoot inserts while I’m editing the video! Lol! But I can assure you that every thought and opinion is 100% my own. I've been a pro musician since I started on RU-vid (longer in fact), so I'm always aiming to show off gear in the best way I can. That’s just the way I like to work. And, I still love featuring budget-friendly stuff. There's tons of great, affordable gear out there, and I get a kick out of sharing those finds. When I work with companies, it's just part of being a professional musician these days - whether it's recording, mixing, guitar building, or making videos. My presentation style has evolved, but the enthusiasm, hand gestures, and smiles have always been part of who I am - you can see that in my earlier videos too. It’s always been who I am and hasn’t changed. I like to be goofy once in a while and over exaggerate. That’s entertainment baby! 😊🤟🏽 I think it's great that RU-vid has become a platform for showcasing music gear. It allows us to see and hear gear before making decisions - that's pretty valuable, right? @jfo3000, what’s up dude! Regarding the guitar top, I confirmed with the company before filming that it is indeed a solid top, not a veneer. I do get it, and if more folks supported through Patreon or bought merch, things might be different for a work perspective. But I'm just really grateful for the fantastic opportunities, for what I've got and all of you amazing people who watch and follow my journey. Really hope you'll stick around, but if not, thanks for being part of this wild journey. And hey, if you ever want to come back, the door's always open. Rock on and have an awesome day!
@@jayguitar you're a shredding musician you're a great guitar player. It's my opinion you should capitalize on that alone and not sell gear for people. If the money's the issue maybe do two channels a demo for gear and a music channel. I see the problem as the commercialization of something that was once fun and artistic. And the market is saturated with crap right now we don't need any more guitars or other gears sold to us.
Hey @truescotsman4103, I really appreciate your kind words about my playing and musicianship. It means a lot to me that you see value in that aspect of what I do. I understand your perspective, but I wanted to clarify a few things. I've actually been doing product reviews for about 9 years now - less so in the earlier years, but that steadily increased - it's not a new direction for my channel. While I love creating music, I've found that music-only content doesn't tend to attract as many viewers or lead to channel growth. I've tried that approach before, and unfortunately for me personally, it didn't resonate with a wide audience. The truth is, I genuinely enjoy doing reviews. It gives me an opportunity to create new music while also helping out companies that are often run by good friends and colleagues in the music industry. It's a win-win situation that allows me to combine my passion for music with my interest in gear. Regarding commercialization, my channel has been monetized for years. I don't see an issue with earning money by sharing my skills and craft with the world. As a professional musician, I believe it's important to value our work and expertise. There seems to be an expectation sometimes that musicians should share their talents for free, but I respectfully disagree with that notion. Think about it - we don't expect mechanics to fix our cars for free or plumbers to repair our pipes without compensation. Musicians invest years in honing their skills, buying equipment, and creating content. Why should we be any different? Our time, knowledge, and creativity have value, just like any other profession. Whether it's through performances, teaching, or creating content, musicians should be able to make a living from their craft. By combining my musicianship with gear reviews, I'm able to create content that's both entertaining and informative, while also sustaining my career in the music industry. It's a balance that works for me and seems to resonate with many viewers. It's also worth noting that if more people bought music and supported artists through platforms like Patreon, fewer musicians would need to diversify into areas like gear reviews or seek work elsewhere. In a way, the current landscape is a reflection of how the music industry has changed. Fans and supporters play a crucial role in shaping the industry. By directly supporting the artists they love, they can help create an environment where musicians can focus more on creating music and less on finding alternative income streams. The gear market might seem saturated, but I see it as an exciting time with lots of innovation. There's always room for new perspectives and honest reviews to help people make informed decisions. I appreciate your suggestion about separate channels, but I prefer keeping everything under one roof. It allows me to blend my musicianship with gear reviews in a way that I find fulfilling and that seems to resonate with many viewers. Thanks again for your thoughts and for being part of this conversation. I always value hearing different perspectives from my audience.
