20:32 yeah that explains a lot. Like you said João, I could really hear a 'different' Spiritbox as well from Rule of Nines forward. That song made me pay attention to the band, while their previous stuff did that less so. Such an obvious thing to include the singer in the songwriting, yet a lot of 'proggy' bands clearly don't do that and you can hear that.

I wanted to add that "yet a lot of 'proggy' bands clearly don't do that and you can hear that" isn't always a bad thing. It's just different, which is my point. Ok, bye!

Man, just found out you run a podcast interviewing all these huge personalities in metal. So happy that you're able to be doing this. Orgulho! P.S. Mike Stringer is a legend and quite possibly my current favourite riff writer.

This was a brilliant interview, João - your questions were substantial and thought-provoking, and you offered insightful contributions of your own while at the same time stepping back to give Mike the space to thoroughly develop his thoughts. There is an art to interviewing, and it is a delicate one. One can find no shortage of interviewers who dominate and speak over their guests, which is to say nothing of others who fail to put in the work beforehand to develop a meaningful set of questions that move beyond prompting 'yes' and 'no' responses and instead lead to constructive conversations. Again - exceptionally-done!

I fucking love Mike Stringer (and all of Spiritbox as a whole). There’s only one thing that gives me ideas for songwriting when I begin writting new songs, or get stuck in writer’s block: listening to Mike Stringer playthroughs

you sir, are a wonderful interviewer/journalist. you ask good questions that that feels the person wants to answer. instead of the routine ones. and really look into what makes a band tick and the motive behind everything. its really awesome.

Great interview Joao! Your questions and content is so genuine. And having Jesse Cash and Mike Stringer back to back???? Dude, who is next? When Mike was talking about these other bands being the biggest in the world I don’t think he realizes that his band is about to be one of the biggest in the world. He seems like a real humble dude and I hope he stays that way. His songwriting is top notch and I can wait to see what this new album entails. Keep up the good work and content sir! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

I appreciated hearing that Blessed Be was something they worked hard to make as good as it turned out and didn't just settle for what happened in the shorter time span they had, because it ended up being one of my favorite songs they've done and the chorus is a huge part of that. I also respect the talk about Courtney's tweet talking about fan expectations especially in the metal world. It's odd that the internet has caused people to always feel the NEED to let everyone know what their opinion is, ESPECIALLY when it's negative. Music is interpretive to the listener, and most of the people I talk to in person about metal has only had good things to say about Spiritbox at least, even non metal listeners. We should really just be happy people are making the music they do and that when something comes out that resonates with you, cling to it and leave other people to enjoy the stuff you don't resonate with.

What a great Episode, I think you two had a good dynamic :D The thing with Spiritbox is you never know what you get, but you know that it is going to be awesome I am just so excited to hear what all the songs are going to sound like, which is propably why 'Eternal Blue' is by far the most anticipated album in a while for me ^^

I saw myself on 47:48 part, and that’s absolutely true! There was a time that I spent the whole day trying to play ABR - Composure song and I was kind of struggling to play some parts, Then I just got a good night of sleep, I dreamed that I was playing this song correctly and the day after I was actually playing it! Sounds a bit like magic but it actually happened to me 😂
