The offense is there it’s the shaky bullpen that ppl question. If the bullpen didn’t blow games they’d probably be ahead of Philly.

We were. 11 games under .500 with a putrid bullpen. It was gross.

I like Pete too but he has been dismal with runners on base when they've needed runs.

It has been a down season for Alonso, but all it takes for a great year is three weeks of strong offense. And Alonso has proven more than capable of that during his career. If not Pete, ... Nimmo or Alvarez getting on a heater could be the difference. We'll see what happens. But, damn, this team -- given everything that happened, from losing Senga and Raley and other pitching assets to the extended slumps of Alonso, Nimmo, and Alvarez -- it is AMAZING that the Mets are in it. And they might not cross the finish line, but this team has shown tons of character. I love this team. Win or lose down the stretch.

Oh, yeah ... I have no illusions about the Mets catching the Phils. Ain't happening. The issue is whether the Mets can hold their own and stick in the playoff race.

I'm pretty sure MVP voting ends before the post-season, but that aside ... Ohtani is probably going to win it due to historic numbers. But some people really give Lindor too little credit. Lindor plays all day every day. He plays offense, he plays defense. His body absorbs the day-in-day-out rigors of the season. He doesn't have the luxury of just thinking about hitting all day, every day. He doesn't get to just study opposing pitching and get ready for the next at bat. I don't know why people don't get this. As great as Ohtani is ... and he is phenomenal ... he only hits. Every game. It is all he does. Focus on hitting and hitting. It is a different thing entirely than what Lindor does. I wish people got this, ... but, heh, people mostly just look at offensive stats. Is what it is.

It's good to see ballplayers that aren't coddled and play as many games as they can in this world of pitch counts and load management. I admire Lindor's old school toughness
