Excellent basic understanding of fitment. Well done Alex. I have a red 2002 Miata LS. I purchased white CP23 Circuit Performance wheels. 16X7, +35. Tires are 205/45/16. Great fitment to keep it near stock. They were only 1 lb. more then my stock wheels that will get refurbished and stored.
Been watching for a while, enjoy you videos. I would have thought 15x7 with a +25 to 40 offset would have been most popular well size. I’m running a 14x7 +20 wheel. I wanted to be different.
15x7 is pretty popular too, im biased towards wider wheels though haha. Probably should have mentioned it. Nice! I'm a fan of tiny wheels on Miatas too.
@@AlexPerrucci tiny! Lol right sized I say. From the beginning of my build I had decided I was gonna make more of a GT then some sort of track car. I have the Flyin Miata koni kit with their rear mounts. With the 195/60 tire it makes for a really good riding car.
As someone who rode on coilovers for years. Going back to stock suspension on my miata felt sooo much better for daily use with KYB struts. Still gonna stick to 15x8 wheels tho lol
Car looks so good! Love the wheels one it. I see a GA tag, any chance you’re around the north Fulton area? Looking for some other Miata friends. My 93 is lonely lol
Good job as usual. I am happy to see I did not screw up on my wheel choice. Just got and am installing my TEIN Flex Z coilovers + waiting for my Advanti Storm 15X8 + 25 wheels. Now I have to decide on tires... I only want to cruise around (a little aggressive some times .... you know what I mean ;-) ) and go to car meets. (This is not my daily and I do like 4-5K summer only miles a year) I do not want to roll my fenders AND I want the best 'comfort' for this size. I don't need to slam it down but I want it low for sure... a bit higher than yours... Roads are rough up hear in Canada. I am debating a 205/50 or a 205/45?!?! I like the Toyo Proxes R1R but I am no expert. What would be your suggestion? Keep up the great work... love your stuff.
Thank you! 16" tire sizes are weird haha. Heard good things about the R1R. I'm a big fan of the new Falken RT660. Looks like theres a decent selection in both of those sizes. the 205/50 will probably be slightly more comfortable.
@@AlexPerrucci I will be on 15's though... so 205/50R15 is your suggestion then? I like the Falkens also (edited... should have wrote 205 instead of 225)
with the 15x8 +25 did you have to roll your fenders? I've heard varying things on whether or not you have to and really want to go with those specs but don't wanna roll my fenders
15x8 +35 however 15x7 with a bit of offset is by far the most popular for no rolling scenarios. Personally I have 15x8 +28 and did have to roll the inner lip but that’s really it
That is what I am thinking about, did you have any rubbing and did you roll fenders? Also are you lowered? My dream setup would be 15x8 et10 or et8 but that would probably rub alot.
Hoping i can get some help. I just bought a stock NB miata. Im looking at the konig hypergrams. I would love to run the 15x8.5 +25 on a 225/45. I want to know if im going to have issues at stock hight, debating about a modest 0.5” drop one day. Im not too thrilled about rolling fenders, i can live not going full lock. Main concern is tire to body contact. If theres major issues i think id just go with the 15x8+35 with 205/50. Any info would be amazing.
You'd probably be fine for the most part with stock suspension, it might rub some on heavy bumps. If you want to be safe you can definitely go with the +35.
I appreciate the info. I was mistaken. I was planning on rolling the fenders but not into pulling. That should help with minimizing body contact. I think i might risk it.
I've noticed this too! Has to be a caster issue I would think. Maybe have the alignment checked, there might be bent suspension components in the rear.
question please... if a 205/50 is ideal for a 15" wheel, then what would be the equivalent "ideal tire size" on a 16" wheel? ...i have a 99 miata on 16's & its a daily, & just running all-seasons, but id like to fit as wide of a tire as i can, within reason...? thanx
I want 15x8 kogeki wheels, they are 15x8 with a 36+ offset my miats isn't lowered or anything it has stock coils and I was wondering if they would fit my 2000 nb miata?
Is it different for the nb? Because i have 15x7,5 +26 and they look more like the 15x9,5 from the video. Is it because im not low enough? Im about 35mm lowered. The wheels are too wide to be legal in germany but they should fit on paper. I have no spacers installed
Hi, I've got a pretty basic question. Did you remove the plastic liners and is it a real problem with stone chips or crap getting to places you don't want it? I lowered it recently so need to stop the rubbing.
@@AlexPerrucci Thank you for the help! I'm debating between 15x7 +35 or the 16x8 +25 but I also like the bigger tires look, so good to know the 16s will work too. New to all this so this is very helpful!
I don’t understand the craze for wide wheels on tiny cars? You got 100hp trying to rotate huge lumps of rubber. All show no go. Throw some light skinny 6” wide rims on 185/55 or 195/50 at most and feel the car dance through the corners. Tire should match the force applied on it.
aesthetic. when you buy a super car it comes widebodied with wheels fitting the body. most true sport cars follow that too maybe not widebody but fitted. miata is a true sport car but a base entry level one. if they gave it more hp from factory it would have gotten wider wheels and possible flares. 15/8 is actually more functional than the 6 j you want on a miata with more hp
