Watch me use the Mica Method (as created by Jade from Jaded Gem Shop), to make the unwanted lines caused by multiplacing and/or bad placement with square drills, virtualy disappear! On an almost solid white background! It is amazing@
I hope this tip, or some of the others throughout, are helpful for you on your diamond painting journey.

I didn't know this was a thing! I randomly did it by using colored chalk (I don't have money for Mica lol) and the result is amazing!

Interesting. That's a very inventive idea! I was surprised though how cheap you can find some mica powder on Amazon. They have small bags for like $5, and as I'm sure you saw with your chalk, you really don't need much: a little goes a long way. But hey, if chalk works, and the chalk is on hand, I'd say keep using that too! Thanks so much for your comment and info!

I’m so glad you found it helpful! I never know if I should do a video similar to what others have done, but I decide to do them just in case people haven’t seen it so I’m glad that was the case for you. Jade deserves all the credit for coming up with it though. It really makes a huge difference. It’s supposed to be great for skin tones and stuff too. Thanks again

I bought mica powder in a few assorted colors in narrow tubes on Amazon. Like you, I decided the white works best for covering gaps in light colors, so the other colors weren’t needed except I did use black for gaps in black portions on my canvas. I’m on a budget so for me, buying mica powder was pricey. However, it helped so much in covering the symbol lines that showed through the gaps/cracks that it was worth it. I agree with you, Jada came up with a genius idea!

I've been adding fine glitter to my diamond paintings for years, just for an extra shimmer. I've never tried mica powder. ❤
@Rubies_And_Moonstones

Ooh! I wonder how that works and what exactly it is that you use? Do you apply it everywhere? Just to certain areas? On all paintings? So many questions!
@SagaciousSix
@SagaciousSix Месяц назад
@Rubies_And_Moonstones I just bought "fine glitter" on Amazon and sprinkle it over any areas I want to add extra sparkle. I've tried to do different colors of different areas of a single painting, but let's be honest, it gets everywhere. LOL. I shake off any excess into a garbage bag to try to keep it contained and then seal the entire painting.

This is great! But it is far from a new idea, or something world shaking. I have cats and if I were to hang a completed DP on my wall cat hair would stick between the drills - while it's not much it would certainly build up over, the years as will household dust! I like sealing the stickiness! Since I usually don't seal my finished DPs this has been a great solution. There's a 108 color set for not too much more $!!👍❤❤️ Your drill placement is impecable - beautifully done piece! 😍
@Rubies_And_Moonstones
@Rubies_And_Moonstones 12 дней назад
@@cookielupappas940 thank you! I sure don’t think my drill placement is “impeccable” so that is a wonderful compliment! Yes: it is not a new idea. Jade created the method but I’d never really tried it before and just wanted to share it on my channel, as well as the amazing results. And you’re right: this would be a nice alternative to sealing. I’ve started using it on the edges of all my paintings I’m going to hang to cover that glue line to avoid any dirt and who knows what from collecting too. And I think they even have a color set of 120 colors if you wanted to get that into it for color matching. I know I didn’t get the largest box. Thanks for watching! Hope it does help with your cat hair

Please wear a N95 mask when working with mica powders. They fly through the air and get into your lungs! I work with them for my acrylic painting and when you are in the right lighting you can see how much they circulate around. Wouldnt want you to damage your lungs.

Have you tried this on a round diamond painting? This looks like something that could solve the issue with the glue that is exposed in between the drills.
@Rubies_And_Moonstones
@Rubies_And_Moonstones Месяц назад
I technically have not, however, I have seen it done by other RU-vid creators and know that it works and think it really works well on round ones. You just need to be sure that all the drills are exactly where you want them first because it will remove the stickiness of all the glue around each drill
@cookielupappas940
@cookielupappas940 12 дней назад
exactly! Also, when you change a design using a similar color powder that coordinates with your new drill color can somewhat camouflage the old colors on the canvas! I move a lot of round 742 over a mixed 939, 841, 950 space and the change left some serious ugly! The mica powders helped minimize these background canvas colors. 👍 (but I used a fine tipped brush and kind of painted the powder in the spaces so as not to get the color in the wrong places.)

@@Rubies_And_Moonstones Just want to stress it minimizes. The oowders tend to be somewhat transparent because you can only get a very fine layer down.

Is the mica expensive? Do you use it before or after you seal?
@Rubies_And_Moonstones
@Rubies_And_Moonstones 2 месяца назад
So I don’t seal my paintings. Haven’t yet anyway. However, if I was to seal one, you would definitely want to use the mica powder first, otherwise the sealant would block it from getting into the cracks which is the whole point. And it’s not that expensive. If you go to Amazon (in the USA anyway), you can find white mica powder that ranges from $4-16. Especially if you just get a small amount it is less, and you really don’t need much. A little goes a long way. I think the one I put in the description box was $6 and it was a decent sized tub that would last a long time (for the white powder only: not the multi colored pack)

Would you seal when you have done this, would it be needed
@Rubies_And_Moonstones
@Rubies_And_Moonstones Месяц назад
I have never sealed a diamond painting. And I did not seal this one either. I don’t think it’s necessary but you certainly could. After wiping with a baby wipe it stays in the cracks since it sticks to the glue, so I didn’t see a need to seal it

This too much trouble for me. I just place them as straight as possible. You won't see the gaps if the canvas is looked at from about 3-6 feet away, not 3-4 inches. I didn't realize that DAC drills were still that gappy but thanks for sharing tho.
