So this video was a bit more dangerous than I was expecting, I ended up at the doctors after being bitten by a horsefly! But it was worth it for that pie at the top of the hill! How would you test this microwave? More individual gadget videos here if you fancy a Barrathon: ru-vid.com/group/PLfItiEY3o1msZB4DJXPXdg2qKBsG3nGav
You had to go to the doctors from being bit by a horsefly? Most people get bit by a horsefly and keep going with their day. You must be allergic. Or did you just think that something similar to a bee sting was worth going to the doctor?
My left foot inflated to the size of a small boat and I was very sick for a few days, truly bizarre and first time it's happened to me from a horsefly to that extent but you do hear about it, it wasn't lyme disease or whatever it's called, but some weird thing that fly wanted to share with me and it wasn't a pie@@iamfreeareyou681
This is what Elon was doing with his satellites. Need a whole chicken cooked but you aren't at home? Easy, Elon will send a big forkoff laserbeam down from space and cook it in seconds. Secondary benefit is you can take baddies out from space....... or maybe that's the primary use thinking about it.
Makita also has an excellent portable cooler that can go down to -10°C and up to +50°C. So during summer, you can refresh yourself with a bottle of frozen water on the construction site, while in winter it'll keep your soup nice and warm. Just write your name on it so other crews don't try to steal it.
Hahaha if that was a dewalt microwave, my partner would buy it just for the sake of adding to his insanely expensive collection of “tools’ he never uses 😂😂😂
This new video style is so awesome. While I thoroughly enjoyed your old vids, this new style is refreshing and witty. I say you do what makes you happiest and the hell with what others think.
Hey thanks for that. Sadly cam has left so I just need to either find a new cam or another way that helps give me the freedom to express myself a bit the way it has these past few weeks plus get a bit of my life back 😂 I’m hoping to find a replacement 😊
As a relatively new sparky myself I can say your representations of a trades person are absolutely bang on, and makita should 100% sponsor you as im 200% sold! One of them would do great in my growing makita collection! I could put it in my van and use it twice a year! 🤣🤣Honestly the production quality of this video is excellent and the humour is on point! I really hope the new video style continues, However I did read the recent news on cam and its heart breaking! But no matter what happens I really enjoy your content and have been since I found your channel back when Barshens first started! Wish you all the best and thanks for inspiring me.
I was just thinking about time traveling to ancient times and bringing a box that can heat things and showing the ancients. AND NOW I CAN! No Cords required!!
Might need to get the camera person a gimble, but I'm otherwise enjoying the new style of filming - It feels more dynamic, and it's always fun to have someone behind the camera that can sass you.
Great video, very off topic but I just read the post from earlier this week about so many people being nasty about the new filming style & it makes me so sad & a bit angry. If you hadn't noticed this lovely man was able to put out so many more videos & you can clearly see how happy he is in the newest videos. He got to spend more time with his family & less time hunched over a camera so leave it to selfish people to ruin it instead of just letting the man have a break. Accept a little change people especially when it's for everyone's benefit & don't be surprised when we start to see far less of this lovely man when he's burnt out, then you can complain about that too.
Hey, honestly it's fine! Everything happens for a reason, if it was up to me it would have carried on but you have to have thick skin for the online World a bit & I told Cam not to take the comments to heart. I'm having a think about the next step forward as having the help was awesome and even the company, really nice. We will get there, got some interesting ideas and folks in touch already, so we will see what happens!
While I did make a comment about it, I was being more constructive, people being nasty about it though? Yeah no I have to agree that that is silly. I still have and will forever thoroughly enjoy the videos, even if I think some of the changes are a little negative.
No nasty comments from me I simply couldn't like the new style BUT if this video was with Cam I find it perfectly acceptable. The stuff people didn't like was all the odd camera angles and movements. These movements and angles were great. Doubt most people ment to hurt anyone. I do hope cam at Least keeps doing the editing.
I'm not convinced about this, firstly 9 min of microwave power on a full charge and the maximum wattage in 500w, and don't even get me started about microwaving tea, how long dose it take to charge up those batteries from flat? Ok 15 min still isn't the best, if they can increase it to 30 min then it may be worth getting It dose remind me of travel bass Amp I use to have years ago
@@charlottebarker2999 ok, I was wondering because as a vapor I know 2 18650 take over 2 hours to charge and you know how small they are compared to those 2 battery's Barry showed
Love this video not going to lie, I love the quality of the new videos, just so sad that people aren't as willing or happy to see change or progress, keep up the amazing work 👍👍👍
Interesting bit of gear, there, Barry. And you're not wrong about the builders' radio - my neighbours had an extension built, last year. The builders - singing along to hits from the eighties, were great at that, especially the big chippy who could hit the high notes on Bronski Beat's classic, 'Smalltown Boy'. Less impressive, though, were their building skills, or ability to return after lunch. My poor neighbours are still trying to get it sorted. The singalongs were great, though. 🤔🤔🤔
Come on anyone although this is portable it’s pretty useless really if it only has, a total of 9 mins microwave time and a a max of 500w I mean a large jacket potato takes about 10 mins and most microwave meals take between 7-12 mins (frozen) at at least 800w so what’s the point in it and who’s gonna wait probably the few hours it takes to recharge the batteries. Then their is of course the weight, it’s not really camping friendly is it after all it’s not backpack ready is it.
And here I thought Makita just made chain saws. Fun Fact: You can microwave something on a tin pie plate, *BUT* (yes it's a big but) you have to put it on a glass plate and put a glass bowl over it. Without any path back to the radio coil, the ions excited in the metal can't discharge.
You are a master at taking a relatively mundane thing like a microwave (albeit a battery powered one), and making it a compelling video I had to watch to the end. Bravo!
Well if it weren't 800 bucks over here, I'd love to carry one of those... I guess I'll just have to use my hob/pot setup I have been using a bit longer. For the people that don't understand this: When you work on a building-site in winter, no windows yet, no heating whatsoever, nothing, nothing does more for motivation than a warm meal and/or drink. Else you have a bunch of cold guys that can't work after lunch because the cold crept inside their bones while sitting down for break.
For everyone that hated on the new style, look what "Cam" was able to do. He was able to record Barry microwaving a pie on a hill. I will be honest I don't know if Barry would have been able to do this on his own. I am sure he could have done the intial set up but all the different shots and angles I don't think so. He will be missed. Best of luck on future endeavors.
The bit where he goes to hand him the cash cracked me up too. I did understand the wobbly camera making people feel unwell but I figured Cam with a tripod was the answer. Some people were just so horroble about Cam for seemingly no reason. Or for jealousy? I hope he's having a great time in his new endevours and Barry continues to try and find a way to take on less himself and be more relaxed on camera like he has been.
At first blink I thought it was a speaker for a guitar... Its an interesting concept to have, even as a non-builder How long did it take to charge the phone?
Oh, Makita, you will never slow With anythin' away from home I'll never know how good it feels to use you. Makita, I need you so Oh, Makita, is the other side Of my stirfry needin' extra time Countin' ten batteries in a row Oh no, Makita, you'll never slow (with apologies to E. John)
The much beloved and my first microwave didn’t have a ‘spinny plate’ (or turntable) I think it was meant for the German market as the cookbook was in what I think was German. Lovely book, real quality. I applied to the company for the English version……… it was a pamphlet 😳 Bless my mother, it was a Christmas present to me for my first Christmas as a wife. 😂
Anything including Boston instantly gets a like from me, seeing you and the little scamp together is always great, they say people and their dogs go together and you two definitely do in the best of ways. Also a portable microwave is pretty sick especially for glamping or emergencies if you’re out on vacation in the wilderness.
Not only would this be useful for sites in new developments that haven't had electrical utilities added but also for trades that move from site to site, saw an electricians ute (small truck) with a 4 port charger connected to a battery solar inverter setup so he always had charged batteries on standby.
Builder's tea and teacher's tea looks similar. The teabag and milk in together, often overbrewed cause you walk away as soon as the elements are all in the cup. Only difference is most teachers I know are very health conscious and wouldn't load up the sugar. Personally I never have teachers tea because the idea of milk and tea in the cup at the same time puts me off.
I read the title, thought "Construction workers would LOVE that but they'd really want to use batteries from their tools." 11 seconds in and that's already been taken care of lmao.
This all started with an april fools post of a portable coffee maker.. but the response was so overwhelmingly positive, they turned into an actual product... now other manufacturers are making their own.. and Makita has started making different apparels powered by their bateries, like this microwave and mini fridge.
I think this video sees the new style really working. I've been a bit uncertain of some of the recent ones but this feels like you're doing something different you wouldn't have done before.
Sorry you got bit out in mother nature. How about testing some camping kit, protective clothing and bug repellers. I have a rocket stove that will cook a meal by making a fire with twigs or charcoal.
Please note, for the microwave 2 batteries and a charger you're looking at about a grand. The bigger batteries barry mentioned cost about £250 each, so then you're looking at about £1300-1500
To maintain the strength and longevity of the battery, it is better not to use it up completely. Modern batteries need to be charged every time. It doesn't matter how short or long you use it. Otherwise, they are completely unusable
Hi Barry, This was fun to watch! Thanks for sharing! In one of your new videos I made a comment about the new style having more of a Ramsey feel then the Barry I’m use to watching. I hope I didn’t offend you! I’ve watched your other new style videos and I’m not sure if the new is growing on me or if you are starting to get comfortable and in the groove but I do like them! And I’m so happy you have someone running the camera so you aren’t breaking your back to give us your great ideas from the kitchen! And the jokes are still uniquely you! Never change that part of your style please! Even the really corny ones! Haha😊
Genuinely loving the new things you are trying! This is hardly the first time you have changed things up, and it's very clear how much excitement the updates bring to you. Love your videos as always and will continue to enjoy watching however you decide to move forward!! You being you is what has kept me around all these years anyway.
Barry makes a valid point, if you've got grafters coming round to do work for you a cup of tea is a must, and if you dont supply said cup of tea, you best believe corners are being cut on the job and they'll think you're a scumbag hahaha
I have the feeling that in just 10 yrs time that the future gen will be laughing at us all in 2023 over our primitive battery technology as demonstrated in this vid....
Not good practice to put china ware that is gold trimmed or painted as this is metal. . Still that is a nifty gadget. But he unit plus a pair of batteries with charger is like £1300, Whats wrong heating your sausage roll on a shovel and a blow torch lol..
I like that you have a cameraman now to help you, but I wish that the cameraman would try to mimic your old style more, the dynamic shots and haphazard editing style make it really hard for me to watch the video comfortably. I liked how relatively calm your older videos were better than this new style.
Oooh, they probably could but would be dangerous as steam is a great way to clean microwaves - water and electric, not so good combo! That's a great invention though potentially!
Did you not say that you don’t like olives yet? I saw you eating one in one of your videos. I really love your channel. You are hilarious and your wife is so patient and sweet.
oh man absolutely loving these last few videos i think the more professional camera work with the classic barry banter is great a true evolution of your style
