Being Mortal has been an important book for me as well. The tension between what we want for our elderly parents-that they be safe-and what all humans including our parents want-a sense of agency-was a paradigm shift for me. Another thing about this book is that I picked it up expecting insights on my mother and instead learned more about myself. I really liked Ed Yong’s latest but my favourite is I Contain Multitudes. I’m glad you found time to do this tag, Melissa. 👍

Yes, Being mortal really does invite the reader to investigate their own biases towards the end of life. I considered myself quite knowledgeable and progressive about it. And yet there were things I simply had not thought about. This makes me even more excited to read more Ed Yong!

Melissa! I was just thinking of you because I got out the tracker to dust it off... (it did not fare well in June) 😅Nice to see you 🤗
