@@kurweider haha yeah i know where payerne is🤣🤣 I was in the military.. there you just call it the green hell😂😂 Yeah why not man give me ur insta account:)
When Dave steps on that wah you know his Strat is about to get an absolute pasting, love it! Can't wait to see John really let rip again for the first time since his latest return but you're just as much fun to watch in the meantime Dave. Also appreciate you explaining your settings for pedals and amps. I've played guitar for about 15 years but found myself struggling to get the sounds I wanted/expected from certain pedals. Some real eureka moments from watching your vids. Cheers!
Wow, what can we say Dave, awesome intro, you really took us on a sonic adventure as always. Love everything about this Channel, from your contact with your subs to the emotive guitar playing and everything in between. Definitely the best youtube channel by a long way, Rock on maestro
Incredible playing sir. All the feels right there. I only came looking for demos of a boss sd2 as I scored one cheap on eBay. After 10 seconds I forgot what I was looking for and just hung around for the playing.
I've been watching you for many years Dave and I very much appreciate the consistent content mate. You the man Dave, I hope you know that. Cheers brother
Dude- they say smoking a cigarette ages you five minutes, well, your intro just made me eight and a half minutes younger. Uplifing & inspiring. Great to feel it.
Sold, Bro!!! I need to check one out. The distortion function to the old Slash wah was very similar in that it needed to sleep with a dirty channel. Thanks man, this was a solid video and I appreciate the company at 2am!!
This whole video was great in its entirety but 3:50 to 4:07 literally cracked me up in the most enjoyable way ever. Definitely laughed and felt through that moment with you. Loved seeing you enjoy playing that much!
"You give this pedal what it wants... it will love you forever and a day. If you give it what it hates... it will destroy you." = BEST PEDAL REVIEW EVER?! :D
Yet another great video. How anyone can give a thumbs down needs a swift kick in the shins. By far the best guitar teacher on line. So informative and inspirational.
I love how Kurt Cobain’s tone in In Utero gets almost like a lead synthesiser at times, it’s just so driven (and going through a chorus too, helps) but that’s what lead me to this video. Which I have to say is a brilliant video! Thanks for doing what you do!
Love both 1 and 2 channels. Sounds truly WOWSOME!!! Great playing as always Sir. Thank you. John Russell (72 year young Rocker now in a rocker ;) in the U.S.A. (Born in Portsmouth U.K)
Been wanting one of these for months, I’ve searched every second hand marketplace because I’m cheap and didn’t want to cough up $100 for one brand new until finally I looked up if there was a cheaper clone of the ds2 and I discovered the behringer ud-100, it’s an exact clone of the circuit board used in the ds-2 and it sounds EXACTLY the same, even the same controls! Best part is that it cost me only $25 when I found one on eBay, 1/3 of the price of a ds-2 used. Now my John Frusciante/ Kurt Cobain pedal board is even more complete now than it was before. Thank you Dave for teaching me the magic of the ds-2 sound :). Ps. there are two models that behringer makes that are dead on clones if anyone wants to look for one themselves, UD-100 and UD-300, not sure on the differences but they look and sound exactly the same. Hope this helps anyone who wants that John tone on a budget
I watched the Captain Meets and found your channel I’ve now bought a Strat clone and aspire to learn to play 6 string guitar and hopefully be half as good as you. Inspirational and can relate to your passion and mentality
I tried for years to love the Boss DS-1 and 2. I used them for a while, then an OCD and I’ve found the Proco Rat is my go to. You know how make the best of the DS-2 though Dave, incredible intro, very FRUSC’y
You really can't go wrong with a Rat, even though I usually don't like hard clipping ckts., I have almost always loved the sounds made by Rat pedals or other pedals based on Rats!
Hey Dave, thank you so much for sharing this comprehensive video discussing the proper way to use the DS-2, I really appreciate all of your amazing insight on all things Frusciante related, and this video is a great example of your tremendous knowledge regarding these awesome guitar tones. I love the BOSS DS-2, and the thing I love most about it is: you retain all of your note articulation, you get endless sustain, and it is much more usable than most fuzz pedals. You make this pedal sound better than anyone I’ve ever heard!!!! Thank You Dave! God Bless You and be well my friend! 😎🤘🏻
Dave, your playing is immeasurable in its awesomeness. Plus you look like all the great guitarists rolled into one. Definitely smatterings of Hammett, Frusciante and Gilmour in your look and playing style.
I have this video bookmarked and every now and then I open it and listen to the intro jam a couple of times (or four or five...) much like tonight's dinner soundtrack, and I do the same sometimes with other intro jams you have from other videos that I've bookmarked. You should put together some of the best ones on an album or video series or something 'cause when you're killing it, it's mind blowing man! Really really awesome... Hands down! Maybe get a producer and let him do it so he'll bypass your sensor ;-)
Bloody ell..bloke just rips it up...I need to learn the neck more... what I love the most about daves channel is with in a few mins of his videos .I start to stare at the guitar..I look at my battered finger tips from yesterday's playing and think ..damn there sore..yet the videos make me pick the guitar up ..your inspiration to many dave
I got this pedal because of you ages ago.....and I don't regret it for a second...so thanks Dave! I absolutely love the Kurt Cobain guitar :) You're so right about this pedal needing a broken up clean sound to get the best out of it. Also loved the intro...especially with the head banging...great stuff :)
DS-2 .... my 1st gain pedal i ever bought ... incl. the extra switch ... great pedal. I just tried BUT you are mastering it - as always! It just sings along with you ... Thanks a lot for sharing.
Nice one Dave, I was sorting out some guitar stuff to sell and the DS-2 was on my list as I couldn't get it to sound good!!! Not now though!....Cheers. Keep up the amazing music!
I think I've worked out why you love that Ibanez wah so much. It sounds like a panic attack! That's the most inhuman scream - nothing like my Vox. Awesome to see John looking so together - even groomed.
I think i will buy it just for the opening solo, great playing as usual. You should have way more subs. i get the feeling you used at Mahgot brain cover. Sound fantastic. I am pretty sure though it will sound crapppy in hand :)
Ah I miss my Guvnor so much ( had the old model ), STOLEN BY BASTARDS...Anyway dude that intro jam was fecking awesome Nice one. Hmmm I really do like my DS1 but after listening to your vid, the DS2 yee haa baby
As a huge Kurt fan and Frusciante admirer, I always have a ds2 somewhere in the chain. Great pedal if you know how and where to use it. AGAIN great tone, awesome play! Thank you for sharing man!
This month my playlist to fall asleep in peace: - Hole, Softer Softest; Awful; many others. In case of insomnia: - Ryan Reynolds and Will Farrell, Grace Kelly; - Dave Simpson, The Mighty DS2 Solo (2-3 times). Severe imsomnia: - Dum Dum Girls, Coming Down; - Jane Siberry, It can't rain all the time; - Dave Simpson, The Mighty DS2 Solo. Yes, again : )
@@thedavesimpson I am certain of hero status, man! Hooked up the ds2 in front of the wah today and let it sing. Intro to slane, on point 👌 Lucky to have seen it in person too! Some gig!
I was seling my Ds2 a few years ago i didnt knew how to set it and it was almost at the end of my chain it always sounded bad to me and then i saw this video i still have the pedal. Ds2 and a Wah its Frusciante go crazy tone right on the spot! Thank you!
