If we didn’t mention this in the video, this is the start of a new series & every episode will feature Dave putting an affordable board together to try & sound like a popular guitar player. Subscribe & hit that notification bell so you never miss a new episode 🤘🤘🤘
1000% yes. And get his bass player Cici in to do bass stuff. She's on her way to becoming the Dave Simpson of bass. And his drummer John Joe as well. And while they're all there, get them to play an Andertons session. (They are his band the Dave Simpson Trio.)
@zen7349 using him? Mutually beneficial i'd say. Andertons are showing Dave off to a new audience - i guarantee he got a lot of new subs from these videos.
@zen7349 do you know of any businesses that don't want to make money? Anderton's are a brick-and-mortar shop in a day and age where the vast majority of people now shop online. I applaud them for what they do with this channel to generate interest and sales while many other music shops have closed their doors. They give us interesting content/demos etc, they give talented musicians like Dave a spotlight to show their talents off...... i genuinely don't see what you have against them if i'm being honest, but each to their own.
He could absolutely, even without the pedals. Dave is a genuinely great person and extremely talented musician that is generous with his knowledge. We’re all greatful for it and follow him until the end of time.
Well done Andertons for recognising Daves incredible talent and for bringing such an amazing content idea to life - with the perfect person too. Been to see Dave live and he's just absolutely cracking and a stand up gentleman to boot.
@@andertons Thank you for giving Dave this opportunity! The man is a bloody legend in the making. His talent is top-tier, yet his humble personality connects with all the commonfolk. He also has a wicked sense of humor. The more comfortable he gets at Anderton’s, the brighter and brighter he’ll shine. So glad to see him here!
I love Dave I watch the wed morning questions and answers, follow him for his orange amp reviews and pedal reviews but mainly I watch his vids for the long intense emotional jam sessions he provided at the start of his videos, you just get lost in the sound
My two favourite channels in one!! What a great idea to have Dave, who can represent your customers as much as anyone and Lee who represents a proper dealership. Their honesty combined will make an excellent series! 👏
Love the way Dave goes about introducing pedals to a board. And love the way John didn’t do things “as they are done” but experimented with the order of pedals. There’s no right or wrong when you create good tones. Try it and see
Definitely make dave a showcase on your channel....awesome idea Captain, add Danish Pete an yourself along with Dave ,...doing similar sound setups ..cheap gear at entry level specs...I admire dave for standing out an being true to who he is as a guitar player ...an philosophy on sound an ,he doesnt let mojo get in the way of inspiration...💗
So good to see Dave back!!! His knowledge of Frusciante tones and playing is immense, but he can nail many other styles just as well. Classic rock, Hendrix, Peter Green, Gilmour, all the way to Buckethead, this man has the chops. Can’t think of anyone who deserves this opportunity (and has worked harder for it over than years) more than Dave. He’s a legend in his own unique, humble way.
i just love this guy dave he talks our language. no bollocks just a simple way to get his point over for the general joe public who,s not blessed with shit loads of cash what a nice guy and a good guitar player well done sir
So good to see Dave Simpson getting the recognition he deserves. Epic player! Now Mr Simpson work your magic on a Ritchie Blackmore tone. The gauntlet has been thrown down!
I’m glad you’ve brought Dave back we need more Northern Guitarists on Andertons now Bea has become a global guitar icon would love to see him and Pete going at it
So pleased Dave is a part of Andertons. The guy is a legend and ultimate nice bloke who deserves every bit of this. Thanks Andertons and we’ll done Dave
Dave is the perfect person to present this, such a gifted musician but also very entertaining to watch! A great addition to the Andertons team, looking forward to more Dave content!
This man is the god of affordable tone. He really has a special talent of bringing entry level gear to a professional level. I think is brilliance is in his planning. Great video.
Hard not to love Dave. He has such passion for the guitar and seems to genuinely have an opinion on gear totally agnostic of brand or price which is very hard to do.
I think this is a great way to go...to get 'less old' guitarists to sample affordable pedals which make the sounds they are chasing..Tone city, Joyo, and many others make great affordable pedals, to get the 'vibe' you are seeking. Of course, after a few months/years...one sometimes deems it worthwhile to get the much more expensive pedal version. There are so many choices now...it must be hard to choose. The 'top guitarists' probably don't use 'affordable' pedals....well...I wonder????Jimi on a Tone City pedal?? Not as crazy as you might think! I wonder if Jimi might have been happy with a £200 set of pedals...??
Jimi had unique stuff, most likely expensive, especially for the time. He had prototypes and the pedals he made weren't widely available or used at the time. It's impossible to compare.
Most famous/touring musicians use gear that is easy to get at every music store, so that's why you see a lot of Boss pedals and less boutique pedals etc.
@@matthewpollard2843 It may have been rare then but its infinitely affordable now. Its not like they're doing an affordable pedal build in the 60s. Its 2021, the golden age of affordable gear. Or at least 2019 was.
@@BollocksUtwat that does not connect to what I said. I said you cannot compare the 60s to now. Plus as a pro musician, Jimi would have a pro board. Saying he'd have a cheap pedal board is ridiculous. Effects were being invented then, they've all been invented now - delay, chorus, etc. It's just impossible to speculate. He would have had 60 years to go through all the gear and whatnot to get to today. Do you see Clapton using cheapo pedals? No. That's a better comparison
I want Dave to take this over and just relax which normally causes his personality to explode with huge knowledge and ability to entertain with disarming sincerity. The man is a diamond .
Very smart decision to put Dave in here! He‘s such an awesome guitar player & lovely dude. What I don‘t get is why they‘re using an Orange amp. With a Marshall you could handle the pedals much better & I don‘t think you‘d bust the bank with a smaller Marshall combo compared to an orange one. It‘s like you want to test the performance of a car in the snow but use summer tires.
Dave is a bloody good guitarist. And a bit of Lyre Bird for Frusiante. I suppose this is the new Sounds Like? If so, great! Edit: I'd be quite interested to hear what this exact cohort of pedals sound like through a Hot Rod Deluxe or similar valve amp.
Been watching Dave for the last year, and as is his unconventional way, he throws the rulebook for setting up a pedal board out the window, just goes to show playing around with the sound works, Great move Captain in getting big D in, cannot wait for the next instalment.
Seems like no one noticed when Dave hit the toggle switch in his great playing flow at 19:40 the switch knob was on his way to another universe (his reaction there is just gorgeous) and then at 20:07 he found it and professionally put it back on. That man is a legend and should be backup for the peppers whenever John needs a time out.
Really happy to see Dave getting this exposure because he's one of the nicest blokes on youtube, not to mention the most genuine. He's as far away from a salesmen than you could get. Nice job Andertons. Now let's get Dave up over 100k subs.
Dave is an AMAZING player and the absolute opposite of what we would call a gear snob, he's the perfect choice for this kind of vida. Obs.: The Ibanez falling apart as he played was hilarious!
I was just learning a Chili Peppers song today. Its like someone read my mind and made this video for me. Awesome. John Frusciante is amazing. His riffs and solos is what I would listen as a kid on a sony portable CD player in bed at midnight. I didn't know shit about music or playing an instrument as kid but I knew there was something amazing in this guys guitar playing and now that I'm older and learning to play the songs its amazing to finally crack the "code".
Love to see Dave working with you guys more! He helped me so much when I wanted to sound like John Frusciante but couldn't understand what made john's tone sound special.
Make Dave a permanent member of the Andertons Team. The dude is genuinely nice and one of a kind. Inspired me and thousands to appreciate John Frusciante and Jimmy Hendrix, the G.O.A.T.S of guitars.
It's crazy, but if John doesn't quit the band in the early 90's and descend into heroin hell, we never get the reunion and we never get the subtle and twisted beauty of Californication.
The tube screamer is so beautiful. I love it it stands out so well. The mojo I’m not familiar with but sounded most like fruscante to me. Good to see you Dave!!! Love having you on Andertons again. You seem well more comfy this time. The same as you were about thirty mins + into your interview vid!!
Go Dave! This took me by surprise, didn't know it was coming. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Nice to see you in your element with the Frusciante tones. Big thanks to the Captain!
This is the best show I've ever seen on Andertons. Absolutely love Dave Simpson. He's not just a one trick pony, he can play any damn style you want, flawlessly.
The ending where dave bought it all together should have been longer! Enjoyed the vid, loved the collab but needed more of that payoff at the end. Thanks though, really great video this one
Simplest answer is …. “ Yes Dave Can sound like John Frusciante With Affordable Guitars Pedals !!! “ Classic Example of a Great Guitar Player doesn’t need expensive Gear 🤟
Dang, so I guess that planned revival of Sound Like with Nolly GetGood that was hinted at way-back isn't happening. This is a very good replacement, and I'm super looking forward to future episodes, but it's a bummer Bea and Matt aren't doing this type of thing anymore.
