80s were great too for kids movies. No politically correct bullshit and lots of imagination by the end of the 90s kids movies started getting a little too PC and unwatchable for adults but imo the ones from the late 70s-till late 90s were the best. And I say this as a 90s kid.
My cousin worked on this movie as the On Set Dresser. She told me it was illegal to drive a car on an actual pond in Minnesota, so they had to flood a parking lot to make it look like a pond to drive the limo on the ice for this scene
@@kingdt903 sure, so you’re suggesting that a bunch of Minnesota state legislators woke up one morning and decided to do away with a (supposed) law prohibiting cars from being driven on a frozen pond? The OP is obviously misinformed. More likely the film crew flooded this particular parking lot because, 1) the location provided a nice backdrop of the Minneapolis skyline, and 2) having a sheet of ice only a foot or two thick would’ve been much safer for the actors involved in the scene than playing hockey on an actual pond or lake. No insurance company is going to sign off on that with a large group of child actors.
@@swishknish No one is going to drive a limo onto a pond in Mn. It would have to be mid January before there is thick enough ice to support the weight of a limo, and I've seen trucks go through the ice on Lake Mille Lacs as well as other lakes. But I've never seen anyone foolish enough to drive a vehicle onto a pond.
The one thing that really makes this one stand out above the other two is the dialogue is much edgier and dirty. This scene isn't the finest example of this but still kinda stands with the lines being said. It's funny too since this is one where the kids are at their youngest yet the language and innuendo is at its strongest of the trilogy.
I used to think that Averman was saying “You really suck” towards Bombay. Now I realise upon further inspection that he was actually referring to himself and the team. At least he was trying to warn Bombay that they weren’t very good LOL 😂
@@dnasty312 The Sharks actually set a new NHL record in their second season in '92-'93 that still stands and will likely never be broken. The record is for most losses in a season: Top 10: 1. San Jose Sharks 1992-93 *71 losses* 2. Ottawa Senators 1992-93 *70 losses* 3. Washington Capitals 1974-75 *67 losses* 4. Quebec Nordiques 1989-90 *61 losses* 5. Ottawa Senators 1993-94 61 *losses* 6. New York Islanders 1972-73 *60 losses* 7. Washington Capitals 1975-76 *59 losses* 8. Ottawa Senators 1995-96 *59 losses* 9. Pittsburgh Penguins 1983-84 *58 losses* 10. San Jose Sharks 1991-92 *58 losses* Ottawa Senators are on there three times 😄
To be honest, I think Emilio and the kids acts pretty good. Even if the story is mostly cliché is still a pretty nice movie. Not a masterpiece of cours but it's entertaining. I've never been that kind of sport guy, not even as a kid, but even I liked this movie as a kid.
This is a hockey movie you can talk the whole family to, unlike Slap Shot. it was made in an effort for Disney to get a NHL team in Anaheim with the same name. This is all the marketing they did, when the team was sold the new owner shorten the name to the Ducks, probably because the old owners had the trademark on the previous nickname.
It started out cliche, but moving the most hated player of the opposing team to their team was a nice twist in the dynamic that sets it apart from other sports movies
@@osamabad3597 I wouldn't call Banks the most hated. Even when the three hawks are picking on the ducks, Banks seems more passive in his taunting of them like his heart isn't really into being mean, but he feels he has to in order to fit in. The other two were much worse to them.
Oh I know right?! I missed him in the 3rd one. I read somewhere he didn't get along with Kenan Thompson so he decided not to return. Real shame though :/
"you little bastards where'd you learn how to play!? oohhh you suck you skate you little bastards...AH ah ah ahhhhhh."drop" god this scene always makes me laugh so hard I can't remember his actor's name but Peter did this scene so well lol its a shame he didn't come back for the rest of the trilogy
So the "pond" was actually the field at Peavey Park. They hose it down, ice it up and set up boards every winter. I used to live in south Minneapolis right across the street from the park when the movie was being made. Even as a kid I used to think it was funny that Charlie's mom was berating Bombay for endangering the kids by driving on a field with an ice sheet on it. Lol.
When I saw this movie 3 weeks ago, this was one of the scenes that made me laugh so hard because of the Rob Schneider impression and (even more so) the fact that these kids thought Gordon was a drug dealer LOL SMDH. I love how this movie's plot is very well executed despite its generic premise.
Interesting Fact: Jake Gyllenhaal was considered to play the role of Charlie Conway (he really wanted to) but he had to turn it down because his Parents for Forbid him from starring in it. For 2 Reasons, 1. It would've required him to be away for 2-3 Months (he was born and grew up in Los Angeles) and the movie was being filmed in Minnesota (he was 12 at the Time) and 2. They wanted him to focus on School and to get an Education. But I'll be honest it would've been cool to see Donnie Darko play some Hockey !!!
Not to be Birdman to your CinemaSins, but you do realize that this movie was a live-action DISNEY film, right? Also, this movie’s script was probably written in the late 80’s, early 90’s when the word HOOD was definitely in a part of the American vernacular at that time. Need proof? Watch Boyz n the *HOOD,* South Central, Menace II Society because all of those movies used the word HOOD often as well and all of these movies were released around the same time. 5/25/24 | 8:25 p.m. | EDT
Connie knocks down Averman and presents hers to Bombay! Marguerite is so pretty as her teen age and she is the only girl in the team until Tammy Duncan (Jane Plank) joins the Ducks!
This and Surf’s Up are the only two sports movies I’ve seen that aren’t horribly cliche. They aren’t perfect movies by any means, but at least they have a character or two that are somewhat relatable and tell a somewhat compelling story.
They should have brought back Jesse Hall for D3: Mighty Ducks. They used lines Hall used in previous 2 and gave them to Kenan thompson's character Russ Tyler and they were bad.
So somebody wrote a comment on one of the Empire videos & I had to check it out. I did not remember the guy who plays the gay brother (Jussie Smollett) being the cute lil brother I had a crush on when I was younger lmao he grew up FINE!! But it was obvious he would 😄😄😄
I watch these movies when I'm sick or have a bad day these oldies but goodies make me happy and when I'm sick I cry and when I have a bad day I get upset and eventually cry
One of my favorite children/family youthful movies in the 1990s from Walt Disney Pictures because of my favorite child actors in the cast Elden Henson (Fulton Reed), Joshua Jackson (Charlie Conway), Brandon Quintin Adams (Jesse Hall), Garrette Ratliff Henson (Guy Germaine), Aaron Schwartz (Karp), Jussie Smollett (Terry Hall) and Danny Tamberelli (Tommy Duncan); Marguerite Moreau was my only favorite kid actress for playing the beautiful role of Connie Moreau in the film.
