So I REALLY don't like Essgee - but this Katisha has to be one of the best I've ever seen. (Favourite is obviously Sylvia Clarke, but Bev Shean is a close second.)
@@DAv2003 I believe this recording took place during the New Zealand tour and was broadcast on Australian TV, the company is Australian tho? It’s one of the two 😂
Lavish production, costumes, set, voices, performance, direction. I can't understand why you had a synthesiser instead of a proper orchestra to complement the it!
@@lucillemurray3395 - My goodness! I posted this in 2007! I can't even remember doing so! I take your point though, Lucille. I've been a 'gentleman of Japan' in this, my favourite GnS, three times in my life. (My name is Oliver, by the way. When I set up this youtube account I left out the 'r'!)
Bev Shean steals the show - she is fantastic. One of the best Katishas I have ever seen. This production is such a mixed bag though. "For he's going to marry Yum-Yum" was ruined. Why was it necessary to replace Pitti-Sing and Peep-Bo with this trio, and where is the women's chorus - not to mention the lack of Pish-Tush. If they had left the basic script alone this was have been stunning evening with the reorchestration.
