for those asking where to get copies of the Pirates of Penzance or Mikado: they are both Australian productions, there is also one of HMS Pinafore and all can be bought from the ABC shop online and some other online stores. cheers :D
It's a shame that this video pixels-out in this size, but is too hard to see in the mini-view size. I saw this YEARS ago, and there was no problem in watching it. Something has happened to the various sizes that videos are played on today. Shame.
I saw this live back in the 80’s and it was absolutely marvellous. They had the audience on their feet clapping and crying and laughing and screaming, it was truely wonderful. I played one of General Stanley’s daughters in my first ever musical when I was 12 and have loved it ever since. RIP John English, apparently his understudy only filled in for John the once and was much shorter than John and so the pirate boots came up to his armpits,
I adore G&S and I adore the Fabulous Singlettes. The Pinafore they did was very exciting. I have to admit, though, if I see a live performance I want it to be traditional.
Poor wand'ring one! Though thou hast surely strayed Take heart of grace Thy steps retrace Poor wand'ring one! Poor wand'ring one! If such poor love as mine Can help thee find True peace of mind Why, take it, it is thine!
He's accepted the challenge Done-Done! They say he's a quitter, He'd better get fitter or Scallion will surely succumb Cumb-Cumb! So tame your expressions of glee. On this subject we pray you be Mum. Mum-Mum You'll find they're not many. Who'll fight for a penny? This bike's worth a rather large sum Sum-Sum A very good bargain indeed On this subject we pray you be mum. Mum-mum! Oh this bike's worth a rather large sum. Sum-Sum! You'll find there are not many, not many, Not many who'll fight for a penny It is a very good bargain indeed It is a very good doctor he'll need As you can see a good bargain indeed, As you can see a good doctor he'll need, Yes indeed, yes indeed! Yes indeed, yes indeed!
I had a huge crush on Simon back in the early. 80’s. Went to the show and it was wonderful, a blast, superb. He says he suffered from terrible nerves which is sad as he is a great performer and his singing,, well..just listen,
i never really liked opera until i discovered the pirates of penzance and of course Helen she has the most amazing voice and i cant stop listening to her and the poor wandering ones
