At first it can appear to be a spoof, but when you look closer, this is a very _well_ worked piece of music. Being a Doors fan, it seemed like a mocking of the number, but if one takes the time to really watch the musicvideo, one will see it as a real good number. Very professional.
Agree entirely. The Doors wrote such memorable songs, that they could have easily been covered by a crooner. Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ is their greatest cover.
When he played this live, he'd have his back to the audience, turn around, quickly pull out a pipe, take it down to a lady in the audience and sing "Come on baby, light my briar". Genius.
I was only 4 in 1968 but songs like Happy Together & Windy must’ve laid the foundation for my love of good Pop tunes in spite of hating chart music if you know what I mean. 👍
Outstanding. I reserve this word for what is deserving it. I was humming this ballad this morning in the shower - out of the blue and am here now. A maths teacher called Mr Lamont mentioned it circa 1997 and I gave it little thought. Edit (Autoplay) No,that was the wonderwall version.Or whisky. But it still works.
Jack Jones, Robert Goulet etc eat your heart(s) out. What a swinger...great stuff! Only just discovered this guy from the BBC easy listening documentary
We can see where Steve Coogan got some inspiration from with Alan Partridge and the arrangement for this is obviously the one that Will Young used. I would pay good money to see Mike live now. The details are hilariously brilliant and musically competent. Great singer too and hasn’t received enough recognition for his talents!
The Mike Flowers Pops and The Sounds Superb Singers still do the occasional gig, usually around Christmas. Mike mostly composes for film and TV now but still gets the wig out sometimes…
He's my ultimate man. You can keep Daniel Craig or Bill Tarmey, this is the one for me. Suave, urbane, a voice like melted honey and a Purdey haircut. Oh yes
Please tell me there is a swing band at a vintage fair with this guy singing. His voice is magnificent and way too good to be doing nothing with it now.
