We resume our narrative with the newly-fashioned Duke of Marlborough taking his first continental command, and soon impressing his Dutch allies with his skill. Yet there will soon be difficulties as the war progresses.
To clarify a phrase used repeatedly through this series: the Jacobites were those who wished to depose the monarchy and restore a Catholic monarch to the British thrones in the person of James II and his lineage.
I must note that I have regrettably referred to England, Scotland, and Britain with some inconsistency in this video. Whilst I could pretend this is an allusion to the somewhat undefinable nature of the relations between the two Kingdoms in these last years before the Acts of Union, it is more down to my own error, for which I apologise.
