A joyous little number guaranteed to bring a smile to the face. Yes, Queen bringing us a waltz, we told you these boys could write and play ANYTHING.

I’ve always thought of “The Millionaire Waltz” as being something of a companion to “Bohemian Rhapsody” because of its many musical change-ups in style within the song. And the period during the albums A Night At The Opera and A Day At The Races was also when Freddie was at the peak of his “cabaret song” period. Another example of this on Races is “Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy” But don’t miss his epic ballad “You Take My Breath Away”. Many will tell you to listen to the live version, but you MUST hear the studio recording first, which features Freddie’s incredible multi-tracked harmonies that cannot be reproduced live. ❤👑

Freddie loved all genres of music, and he dared to play them all

This is a fun and beautiful song. It definitely sets a mood and Freddie uses his voice so perfectly. This truly is a Waltz too, written in 3/4 time. You get that definite 1-2-3, 1-2-3 cadence in the music. Brian makes some very interesting sounds with is guitar, possibly using the Deacy Amp that was made by John Deacon. It creates a distortion that can make Brian's guitar sound like horns or string instruments, Nobody has ever been able to duplicate the Deacy Amp though many have tried. He built it from junk he found in a dumpster. Someone has come close recently, according to Brian but Brian still uses the original which John gifted to him when he retired.

Thanks JMBOY, that was so entertaining... Yes, Freddie and Queen could do it all, and do it SO WELL they created their own genre!! Another deep cut in the rabbit hole of Queen is "Dreamers Ball"... a little French ditty you might enjoy... or "My Melancholy Blues"... or "Jealousy"... all wonderful songs... blessings.

The band had been working with a very famous, succesful and rich manager called John Reid between 1975-78. Freddie had a friendly relationship with Reid and it’s said, that Freddie wrote the song about him. Pls, check out another genre from the band the jazzy My Melancholy Blues.

Freddie not only did ballroom and rock music, he did opera and believe it or not he also did a lullaby called Dear Friends. It's only about a minute and a half. You should check it out. And never ever expect anything from a Queen song. You'll be wrong about 90% of the time. 😆

Dreamer's Ball live in Paris 1979 is a favorite of mine. It includes the guys' imitation of other instruments by just humming etc., and Freddie is always on point. I am loving your reviews. Well done.

Thanks! This is such a unique and pretty song... all the harmonies.. and love the bass-line... and of course, the guitar solos and the changes... just another example of how Queen rocks any type of music, right?

I always thought Queen had a regal sound to them. Brian's guitar is beautifully Baroque. 🤩

Another cleverly worded Freddie song. And the musicality! Wonderful. How does Brian make the guitar do that? Pure talent. This song is charming & very 'waltz-y". Watch a video with people ballroom waltzing, turn off that sound & TURN UP "The Millionaire Waltz". It's the real deal.

Awww the Millionaire Waltz is absolutely fun, makes you wanna dance!! Hahaha! *MAYBE JUST ME* But anyway, written about Queen’s manager John Reid, who also managed Elton John. It was rumored that they had a romantic relationship!! Now you should react to DREAMER’S BALL. 💐💐

@@deboraclark5791 I hope you can enjoy them! For me they have many similarities with Queen, especially in the 70s and then in the 2000s (they started using Queen-like vocal harmonies, for example in "Dick Around"). "Falling in love with myself again" is their waltz-rock song from the '70s, and came out two years before "The Millionaire Waltz".
