MyQ is actively searching for and shutting down all other methods outside of their own to force you to buy their products. It’s a shame, I will be going with a different company next time, I already paid a premium for this opener to start with.
Spent hours trying to figure this out. My simple mistake was not naming the shortcut exactly the phrase you will use with Siri. Having read many of the replies here I thought I was having the same issue as everyone else. But the key was naming the short cut the exact phrase you will use. Thank you for this video
Ugh...me too...for anyone having the same issue click on the small drop down arrow at top and rename the shortcut "Garage Doors, Gates" to something like "Open Garage Door"

Any suggestions for what to do if you used your Amazon account on MyQ? When I try to login on LiveKey with my Amazon account it says invalid credentials
Sign out of myQ app and register again with new login credentials. It will say email already on file and then just reset password option. This worked for me.
@@jayeelliston178 Follow the instructions on the video. Once live ley is set with MyQ go to the shortcuts app and under shortcuts add a shortcut, add dismiss Siri, and continue, then click the search bar, select apps, select live key “garage doors gates” under live key settings select which garage you would like and what action you would like. Keep in mind as it is explained in the video you need one shortcut to open and one to close. Make sure you name the shortcut exactly how you want to tell it to Siri.
@@jonathandelgado4842 oh sorry I think I misunderstand your original post. I though you found a way to do this with only the shortcut app. It seems like live key and MyQ can no longer be synced together. Livekey no longer accepts my MyQ login information
Hello, I'm having problem with LiveKey accepting my MyQ credentials. I tried to change MyQ email+password but still LiveKey still doesn't accepting them. Any help?
Does one need to install the white pod thingy? When I try to link the key and MyQ it asked for email and password. I’ve never used a password for MyQ and wonder if it involves the white hub/box thingy
Nice video, thanks for sharing….. wondering if in order to the short cut to work when you ask Siri to open the garage the phone needs to be unlocked? I have a Apple HomeKit garage door opener that in order to open the garage door the iphone needs to be unlocked….. but don’t matter when closing….. please let me know. Thanks
Even though your video posted recently (a month ago) my interface on live key and shortcuts look all different. Having a tough time setting this up lol
Have you been able to get this to work on an Apple iwatch? I tried adding the shortcut under the iwatch tab but the Siri command doesn’t work. Siri on my iPhone works like a charm though !!! Thank you!
MyQ has cut off any kind of connectivity with Apple HomeKit. I set up the Meross Garage Door opener which is basically a wifi enabled remote and a hard wired magnetic sensor. The Meross solution does integrate with HomeKit and CarPlay .
In fairness to him the video was created and uploaded a year ago. If you look at the comments around 7 months old or so, they state "it works like a charm, etc" so at that time livekey was around, the circumvent method was true and correct.
@@USA-CANADA1480in this guys defense as soon as the program was removed and no longer worked the video should have been taken down. The owner knows it doesn’t work cus he is liking these comments, so it’s false advertising
@@Alderauth2463 intelligent people do their research before jumping in any instructions that have date stamps. THAT IN ITSELF acts as a disclaimer. Googling is one way to find out when such instructions are still applicable or not. Anyone with common sense knows that technology evolves and all that you see around RU-vid vlog instructions are just a guide. 😝
@@Alderauth2463 Lmao. I found a Dell 486 RU-vid video commercial from the Dell dude that says it sells for $800 with bubble jet printer!!! Woohoo. It’s 2024. The video has not and probably will never be removed. I guess that’s false advertising!! Yup. To the dumbest people who think technology is forever stagnant with no evolution. Lmao 🤣. Get real.
As I approach with my tesla can myq also turn on my outside light , unlock my door from garage to mudroom and turn off my alarm. Can a message pop up on tesla screen to disarm and unlock door?
Thanks!!! I have been trying to figure this out for a while. Had an issue previously getting LiveKey to sync with MyQ but finally got it working tonight.
I just got mine to work; I will be doing a how to video tomorrow showing the steps. It works great with MyQ Garage Door Opener (My Channel Is Welding And Stuff)
when using the voice command ( SIRI) do you have to be on your home wifi or will it work over cellular? I have read that some products out there have a disclaimer ( usually in small print) that you must be on the home wifi to use SIRI. I have a 300ft driveway and wondering if I could use this as I drove into driveway or do I have to wait until I get all the way up to the house and connect to wifi? Both your videos on this topic are great thanks for the work you did.
Hi do you know how to add this to Android? I have a Samsung galaxy and I use android auto in my cars. I've tried Simple command and it's OK but nothing I try seems to open the door. It's so frustrating because I have the Myq with the Bluetooth and WiFi and the camera all built in, so I thought it should be quite easy but it's not. please help with any ideas you may have. Thanks in advance😊
When I added the Garage Door I didn't get the "Voice Actions" option - only "Automations" and "LiveKey Shares". Any thoughts? I'd sure love to make this work! Thanks for any help you can give.
Same. I only get Automations and LiveKey Shares as options. No opinion for Voice Actions. When you select Automations it only takes you to the instructions on how to setup the shortcut. Which I did exactly as instructed. But come back to the live key app and there is no option for “Voice Actions”
@bcteslaguy i think the livekey app was updated and now the process is different. I was trying this yesterday and we now have to go directly to the apple "shortcuts" app to create the shortcut ourselves. livekey directs you there
It's working now. I renamed the command to say "Siri open garage" and it seems to work. Also, I just added it to my apple watch. The process could be another video for you. :)
@@BrianHoJazz @BCTeslaGuy if you have other homekit accessories using "Siri open garage", "Siri close garage" and "Siri Garage Status" seem to be the only way to make it work for me. If I use just "open garage" it looks for something in homekit and says I have no garage there. Thanks for the naming tip Brian and thank for the video BCTeslaGuy.
Very helpful information. Thanks for posting the details needed. Now, on to using Alexa. And trying to figure out how to get MyQ to tell me a door is open. I can get it to work via shortcut, but I would like a push notification from MyQ that a garage door is open after 10pm.
You can program MyQ to close automatically, after so many minutes being open, or on a schedule. Plus, you can have MyQ send you an alert when the garage is opening and/or closing. Haven't tried having it send me a notifications if opened after a certain time, as I have it automatically set to close if open for more than 45 minutes.
On My Q app go to settings>alerts and notifications>click blue plus sign at the bottom. Maybe this is a new update but you can set alarms up for open, closed, or incomplete closure at custom times of the day!
If the livekey app is not open and I say "siri, open garage door" or "siri, close garage door", the iphone opens the livekey app then I have to say the phrase again and it will work, does yours open the livekey app first or do I have mine set up wrong?
did you install livekey and setup the commands? I find if I ask Siri slowly she come back with something about not having any devices setup. I just say my command "Hey Siri, Open garage door" without pausing. Seems to work for me. You can verify if livekey is setup correctly by using the app and clicking the button. If it works, then you may be using the wrong command. If I say "Hey Siri, open the garage door" it will fail. let me know how it goes.
Thanks! This works great on my iPhone, but has anyone been able to use the Siri command with CarPlay? Siri keeps telling me she can't do the operation while I'm driving🤦♂
Added a shortcut for open garage & close garage. They work when tapping them on my phone but won't work with Siri. She says "I can't find anything like that in home." Any thoughts or suggestions?
did you use the default voice command? I get that message once in a while. I find I get better results when I say it quickly without pausing after saying "hey Siri".
No.. HomeKit doesn’t need internet to send commands to devices. Internet is only needed if you are not home and want to control something remotely. In your setup my guess is that internet is required all the time because Siri is sending commands to Livekey which sends it to your online myQ account and then myQ service is sending command to controller from internet.
AWESOME VIDEO, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I did not have the voice actions, nor the geo actions as an option on my iPhone but followed the instructions in Livekey. Now i am able to control both garages with Siri.👍👍👍👍👍
Worked great....then 5 days later it stopped working...MyQ no longer syncs with Live Key....any idea how to get it back working....I have tried to reinstall....Live Key no longer recognizes MyQ password
Mine as well. Installed last week, worked great up to yesterday morning, last evening no longer working, and same errors, deleted and started over. Invalid credentials. Can not add integration. Also tried to add integration to my WYZE cameras, same issue, was able to add my SONOS however.
Easy to follow tutorial. I am trying to setup for my dad. When we try to use siri voice command it says there are no accessories setup in homekit. However, my dad doesn't use homekit. Any ideas?
WOW. THANK YOIU BC Tesla Guy!! This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. Very simple and straight forward. Now I can open my garage door as I'm arriving home simply by saying, "Hey Siri, Open Garage Door" and close it with, "Hey Siri, Close Garage Door". Subscribed!👍👍
I can open garage door by tapping on open button in LiveKey app but the Siri pairing does not respond at all. Sometimes says done but doesn’t do anything.
Voice action does not come up on my screen. Am I doing something wrong? 😊 update , I had to go into Siri shortcuts . As the other action did not work previously stated what I had to do was put in 2 separate commands one for open. and then put in another command for close It was a great feeling when I finally got it working . I did couple of tests it worked really well the main thing is patience. It took me hours and hours. Thanks
The shortcuts work from within the Shortcuts app, but Siri doesn’t work stating that she can’t find the doors in the Home app. But I can’t add the doors to the Home app, because the myQ gateway isn’t HomeKit compatible 🤷🏻♂️
It turns out that Siri just refused to recognize the phrases I set up. I have three garage doors, and in myQ they’re named Garage Door 1, Garage Door 2, and Garage Door 3. So I thought the easiest way of dealing with this would be to create Siri phrases such as “Open Garage Door 1”, “Close Garage Door 1,” etc. Again, that didn’t work. Siri kept telling me the accessory wasn’t found in my “Home”. I played around with various phrases that both made sense and functioned, and finally landed on: Open Tesla Garage Close Tesla Garage Open VW Garage Close VW Garage Open MINI Garage Close MINI Garage Why Siri has no issues with those more complex phrases, but does have issues with the simple numbered ones, I have no idea! The really ironic(?) thing is that I have myQ active in my Tesla, and it works flawlessly for automatic opening of its garage door when I arrive home. But, it will automatically close the garage door only about 1 out of every 15 times I leave. Now at least I can just say “Close Tesla Garage” as I’m backing out and Siri will close the door for me. My MINI has a HomeLink mirror, so I just push the button on the mirror when I’m leaving. And I also have Tailwind iQ3 so the MINI will automatically open the garage when I arrive home. The VW also has built-in myQ support and it works flawlessly (leaving and coming home, unlike the Tesla), but I’ll use the Siri command to open the door as I’m getting in the car.
I don't have the white pod that you have, just the old style MyQ hub. Did everything you described, but it's not working. Also, every time I ask Siri to open or close, the Livekey app opens up.
Same here. I have a 2017 Chamberlain garage door opener (no white pod) and followed every step. When I ask Siri to open or close the garage, the Livekey app opens, but nothing further happens. Siri does respond positively, so Siri seems to get feedback that it opened/closed the garage. I'm wondering if it requires the white pod for it to work.
Do you need the white box or not? I don’t know what password to enter for the MyQ being asked during the linking step in the video *** update. Sorted it out. Do not need white box (hub). Just need MyQ app and the key app
