Some points I learned while trying to get this all to work. I needed to reset my garage door opener to remove all remotes before the My Q hub would connect. I needed to hold the wifi reset button for the full 8 seconds (4:00 in the video) on the my Q hub when transfering the wifi settings. It looked like it worked with a shorter press but the process kept failing. Keep holding it.

Ok, so I have only the garage doors, no hub currently... I just got the home bridge kit.... what do I do differently, if I don't have a hub to transfer over?

Maybe some one will know the answer to this. I just installed a myQ garage door hub and connected it to my chamberlain garage door. Everything works but the flashing light and beeping comes from my garage door and not the myQ hub even though it’s got a light on it and speaker. That normal? I mean, everything works. Can open and close with the app. Just that the light doesn’t work.

I have this setup in my garage, and installed it before it went the way of the dodo, apparently. I’m wondering, are you still using yours? If so, did you happen to notice that your old hub is no longer viewable in the myQ app itself? I noticed this just today when I wanted to add another sensor to my other garage door. I have two single doors instead of one large one.

I’m unfortunately not surprised. Sorry to hear that it in your case though. That’s a bummer. I am no longer using mine for this very reason. I was afraid there would be less & less support for it. 🙄

This is helpful. My app is not giving me the option to transfer… So I think I need to go through the set up again. Did you do away with your HomeKit controller after you installed the bridge?

I haven’t used this device for a couple years, so I’m afraid I’m not as helpful as if I still was. Once they discontinued the device, support pretty much went out the window, so it’s basically obsolete at this point.

Thank you, Your instructions are the first ones to actually get me connected to the HomeBrige and then to HomeKit. However, I have two doors, without trial and error and possibly messing up my garage door one, what do I do?

You’re welcome! Glad I could help. Did you get yourself a second sensor for the second door? If not, you just need to pick one up & then add it in the MyQ app.

This device just has the worst instructions, either instructions that might come in the box, terribly out dated on their website and I’ve not found anyone that was as simple and worked as you created. At least your screen shots looked like mine. I might suggest that you slow a little (and you’re better than anyone else), just to give those of us that are trying replicate what you are doing, I had to stop, go back even then I thought I missed something because I think you skipped something that you already knew wasn’t important. Unfortunately I had to undo everything and reinstall my doors and Myq hub. This took everything off the bridge and HomeKit. I’ll get it figured out. Again, thank you for the great help.

Just confirming what others have stated. As of 7.13.22 the Chamberlain support agent indicated the company no longer supports integration of any other apps to the MyQ app, specifically no Apple HomeKit or voice awareness software.

So irritated. I specially bought this for that reason. 200 bucks. Worked great. Fast forward a couple years and noticed after resetting up a new network that it’s no longer working. Found out it’s no longer supported. My wife’s still works though with Siri and all. So weird. I tried to appeal to chamberlain and the fact it cost 200 bucks and they literally said it’s not their problem. I will never, ever, EVER buy another product sell chamberlain. Unethical and shit service.

They are not a great company. I need an obvious Apple CarPlay integration and this should simply be Chamberlin allowing the app to run on CarPlay. How difficult is that?

You can open with the Siri command, but you have to confirm on your phone. You can close with the command, without confirming.

I know that this video is a few months old, but I'm in the process of moving to a new house (well, build in 2013) in S. Florida and am preparing a list of all the smart home tech that I'll need to buy again (I'm leaving everything I have with the house I just sold). With regard to this video, I *just* got off the phone with Chamberlain customer support because it looks like they're no longer carrying this device and Amazon is charging a whopping $120 for it. The support agent flat out told me that Chamberlain will be discontinuing HomeKit support and while this device may work, for the time being, it will eventually no longer be supported. She said that they're basically pushing everyone to use the MyQ app, which is a pretty big bummer. My question is whether it's even possible for Chamberlain to cease HomeKit support. If I understand correctly, this device doesn't need to communicate with any Chamberlain servers, right? Isn't it the equivalent of a Starling hub, but for MyQ garage doors?

I don’t see this device losing HomeKit capability if you already have one. I haven’t heard anything about them ceasing HomeKit support, but if they do, I imagine it would be for future models, not people that already have them installed. It’s the very reason this device exists. Interesting that they told you that though.

@@GeorgeLangabeer Agreed - I was kinda surprised that the support agent would share something like that. She even said, "maybe I shouldn't be sharing this yet, but I want to provide good customer support by warning you before you spend money on another device." Don't get me wrong, she was a great agent to chat with, but it was worrisome to hear. The writing is definitely on the wall that they are likely discontinuing the device, though. You can't order it anymore and the sites that do carry it are pricing it at a premium of $20 - $70 above MSRP. I'll still nab one because I really would like to have my garage doors managed via the Home app. With that said, the house I'm moving to has three garage bays, each with a Chamberlain Liftmaster opener. Rather than use two sensors with one hub, I'm just going to opt to get three individual hubs with their own sensors. I know that the MyQ app won't have any issue managing three different hubs, but do you know whether all three hubs will migrate into HomeKit if I use this Home Bridge?

I never keep the devices I use as demos in operation. I always switch them out. So that code won’t do anyone any good, because that device is no longer in use. Come on now, You’re talking to a security guy. Lol But thanks for the concern.

I am looking to replace my 30 year old garage door opener and really want “Hey Siri, open the garage door”, so I don’t have to take out my phone or watch. Is that possible?

There are quite a few garage door openers compatible with HomeKit. The MyQ option in this video is one option of many. As far as opening your door with Siri…you’ll be able to do it, but for security purposes, you’re going to have to authenticate the request on your phone or watch. They do that for your own protection. For example, let’s say you have a HomePod mini in your garage (like many of us do). If a criminal was smart enough to scope you out, they could know that & just yell at Siri through your garage door to open it. You can close your garage door without your phone or watch however. You can also open your garage door (with a HomeKit compatible opener) using CarPlay. Using CarPlay, you don’t need to touch your phone to open it.

My system was working perfectly until it wasn't. Suddenly it stopped working. I had to reinstall the whole thing including the Chamberlain Smart Control, again from scratch. Then the garage door would open completely spontaneously. Very worrying. Right now, it continues not to work properly. For example, if I command "close garage door" using Siri, the light flashes and the beep beeps, but the door does not move. If I command "open garage door", Siri says she is "working on it" but nothing happens. I think I might ditch the whole system, which is a shame, considering how much money and time I have put in.

Very strange. Sorry to hear you’re having such a rough go of it. I haven’t had any issues with mine and I haven’t heard any complaints from our customers that have them. I’ve found it to be very reliable.

@@GeorgeLangabeer I have tried unplugging the whole system, resetting both devices to factory settings, starting again from scratch, and the system remains unreliable. The most worrying thing is the garage door just opening spontaneously which is totally unacceptable.

@@GeorgeLangabeer yeah but even chamberlain’s wifi garage door doesn’t connect right! There’s like 3 different ways to do the same thing when it comes to connecting to the wifi and I’m not sure which one is the right way. I’ve done it a couple times but don’t think it’s been the same every time. They need to stop saying they’re selling a wifi garage door. If I ever get the wifi reconnected I’m goi g to try it without the bridge using simple commands with live key. Cause that was working but changed internet providers and it’s to damn cold out to be messing with it

After watching your install at your former co-workers garage on the MYQ, I bought one . Never got it to work on a 3 year old opener. And, the HomeKit was a different part #. MYQ has the worst website for telling you the proper part # for HomeKit. The only reason I know the correct number for HomeKit, is that the help line guy sent it to me. I wont be buying it again, Wait for Euphy..
