Thank you so much! I read the directions numerous amounts of times but just couldn't understand it... All I had to do was just watch this once and I understand the whole game now! Thanks again 😄

Also, the rules in the box were a little vague as to whether or not you actually discard the cards upon the use of a throwing star, so thanks for clarifying that. Your way is much easier.

Ahh, yeah that's a great point. I think the "discard" part was clearer in the original The Mind rules. They clearly changed the wording because in this one we have the choice between discarding our lowest white or our highest red.

5:58 I like how you messed up the level but you just kinda rolled with it. I just got the game and that’s what I did a little too often.

Ahaha, I totally did. This game really is just too extreme sometimes 🤣

So, no need to buy the original one cuz it seems like we can just use the cards of this sequel to play in an original way?

In the original, you sequence one set of cards numbered from 1-100 in ascending order. You could mimic that in two ways, both of which I find unsatisfying. A) You could just play with one stack of 50 cards. This "kinda" works ok for small numbers of players who don't complete many levels. B) You could play with both stacks, but mentally add 50 to one color. i.e. the white 11 is "11", but the red 23 is "73". For a game that is already having you think in strange ways, this extra permutation will result in increased misplays and frustration with most groups. Therefore, I do not recommend trying to play the original The Mind rules with The Mind Extreme cards. The changes are different enough to warrant playing with the actual set you want to be playing with.

In a blind hand if the order of white cards played is 1,2,5,3,4,6 would you loose 1 life for the 5 or two lives for the 3 and 4? Also, if you see a card played that means you have an out of order card can you request playing the ninja star or do you loose a life straight away?

Great questions! In the first case, we check our blind play results for any cards that were played before any number of lower-value cards (the 5 in this case) and each of those costs one life. So your example would cost the team one life. I'll post the relevant example from the rules below. Second, the rules say that, "if someone plays a number card out of order, the game is paused immediately..."-so I've always read that to mean that using the throwing star to "save" an error play would not work. Good thought though! Blind errors example from the rulebook: "The following white cards were played: 2-13-11-28-44-42-37. The 11 should have been played before the 13, and the 37 and 42 should have been played before the 44. Two lives have to be given up for these two mistakes."

@@BoardGameBarrister thank you. Am I correct in thinking if the first query was in a face up scenario it would cost two lives? When the 5 is played there are two out of order cards in the players hands costing two lives.

@@kayakcanberra Actually, it'd be the same single-life-lost result in a face-up stack! Here's the example from the original The Mind rules for face-up errors: "Sarah plays the 34. Tim and Linus shout “stop”. Tim has the 26 in his hand, Linus has the 30. One life is discarded. Tim places his 26 to one side, and Linus does the samewith his 30. The team refocuses their concentration and the game continues."

In which levels we have to play blind and in which manner?
@BoardGameBarrister
@BoardGameBarrister 3 года назад
If you see the small handprint symbol above the 0, then you play the white cards blind (upside down) for this entire level. This first example is on Level 3. If the handprint symbol is above the 51, then the red cards are blind this level. Hope this helps!
