The Institute of Coaching is excited to announce our upcoming CoachX Conversation with Ellen J. Langer and Carol Kauffman on The Mindful Body. This CoachX Conversation will be on September 6th at 12:00pm EST.
In this CoachX Conversation, Ellen and Carol will talk about adjusting your thoughts can change your health-from the "mother of mindfulness" and first female tenured professor of psychology at Harvard.
When it comes to our health, too many of us think that a medical diagnosis describes a static or worsening condition. We live our lives as though our ailments-our stiff knees or frayed nerves or failing eyesight-can only change in one direction: for the worse. Ellen J. Langer’s life’s work proves the fault in that logic. She has spent more than forty years testing the limiting effects of our negative assumptions as well as the healing power of being mindful-present in the moment and not distracted by memories or projections into the future. In The Mindful Body she unpacks her findings and boldly demonstrates how our thoughts and perspectives have the potential to shape our well-being.

Ellen... "I think what people should stop doing is trying to add more years to their lives, what instead they should be doing is add more life to their years - then the rest will unfold naturally." Mind-blowing yet every cell in my body tells me this is the truth. I have often thought it is quite ironic how humans who are obsessed with eating a certain way frequently die young (just as they had feared). Yet others who are living life on their terms can live really long lives. My grandma is 100 and doesn't eat fruit but boy does she love red meat. Ellen I am certain you are updating the ancient wisdom teachings for the evolving consciousness.

My grandmother lived to 110 and nothing was wrong with her except her eyesight. She did lose her eyesight around 100. She ate lots of sweets, the rest of her diet was pretty good but she never thought about what she ate. I think the obsession with our health can be carried too far.

Interesting but incredibly boring .All she talks about in every interview or the studies. You would think with all of mindfulness that she might be able to frame Info a little differently each time she gives an interview
