Good interview. I appreciate the insights as someone that has starting dabbling into ultra running now that I’m 40 and the marathon distance isn’t enough anymore (still looking to get all 50 states completed). I just ran my first 12 hour run and did 65 miles. Now researching what 100 miler lines up with my training and family events.
Great vid, and that coming from an amateur runner… never quite know what it is that fuels certain people. but running is just so simple, you either do it or you don’t.
the only mindset is to get into a steady constant rhythm and flow and let your body and imagination do the work, all your doing is observing and providing slight corrections when you need to. Kind of like when you drive a car and turn the steering wheel. you only need as much effort with your thinking mind as you would turn a steering wheel. it takes practice but what you doing when your training.. your training to get into a flow to allow your body to do the work. the thinking mind has to be totally shut off.
