I just realized the Minecraft movie means Jack Black is in Smash TWICE. A literal human made it into the game twice before Waluigi made it once

tbh as much as Dan was dunking on the game, watching the stream did remind me why I liked this 'game' so much as a kid. Being an edgy "too-cool" 11 year old (I was a loser) is definitely part of it because I was probably the exact target demographic, but I did like how seriously the story took itself for a kids game. It had plotholes and plenty of stupid things but damnit this was my SHIT as a kid. The big reason I fell off it was because I noticed (at about epsode 5 or 6, yes I know it took a while) that me playing the game led to the exact same experience as just watching it on RU-vid. Despite the game promoting your choices mattering, this game couldn't be farther from that. It's really funny that this is one of Dan's least favourite games of all time, while some of his favourites (Slay the Spire, Balatro, New Vegas) are all games where your choices matter A LOT and completely change how the game is played.

Minecraft Story Mode is undoubtedly one of the video games of all time.

Minecraft Story Mode actually tries to be creative with its ideas set in the Minecraft world (like the Wither Storm), while A Minecraft Movie appears to stick by a very basic approach with unfitting graphics.

I don't even like Minecraft, but at least this game tried to replicate the thing it was based on. Honestly, they could have easily have had a buddy story with this games animation style about Steve and Alex trying to survive in the Minecraft world, building up to them getting stronger more experienced until they eventually fight the Ender Dragon, similar to how the game makes that the objective in survival mode. But no, let's awkwardly force in live action human characters so we can force in celebrities and be as lazy as possible. There's no point in making a cast of people who don't know how Minecraft works when the entire audience watching doesn't need an explanation of how Minecraft works.

I love how the RU-vid-censor sounds in some cases. When Magnus shows up, and I hear his voice go to a cheery tone (“RU-vid!”), and then immediately to a terrifying “youuu”…

I still love this game and I am currently replaying season 2. Sure, it can be corny or cringe sometimes and the choices do in fact matter only in some precise instances but there is a certain charm that makes me unable to hate this game at all; I felt no connection, on the other hand, to "A Minecraft movie" trailer, I feel like it serves no purpose and it feels like its sole objective was to make money, regardless if fans would be satisfied. I feel like they put more effort in this game than the movie they were working on for several years (but I think we are still too quick to judge). And then there are Dan and Stampy, obviously this is better.

The funny thing about the handshake near the beginning being given the pop-up "No one will remember that" is that it comes up at least two more times, meaning they did remember it, probably moreso than most of the times the game says that someone will remember something but it just never comes up again.
