The peptide company I mentioned in the video is an Australian business, they were great and supportive. biov8.com.au/
Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that was originally developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. GLP-1 is a hormone produced in the intestines that increases insulin secretion, reduces glucagon secretion (a hormone that raises blood sugar), slows gastric emptying, and reduces appetite. GLP-1 receptor agonists, like semaglutide, mimic the effects of the natural hormone, leading to various beneficial effects in people with type 2 diabetes.
In addition to its effects on blood sugar control, semaglutide, like other GLP-1 receptor agonists, has been noted to cause weight loss in many patients. This effect is believed to be primarily due to its appetite-suppressing properties. Given the weight loss effect, researchers began investigating the potential of semaglutide as a treatment for obesity.

I know a lot of people share concerns about weight regain afterwards. I'll let you know but I think lifestyle and habitual change is essential to maintain any fat loss irrespective of whatever method is used to obtain it. We shall see. Thanks for watching.

I was on it for 6-8 month, the side effects weren’t too bad as long as you stay hydrated but… i didnt see much change, and some days felt literally ravenous which i found weird as its supposed to do the opposite lol, however been off it for some months now and getting mad cravings for veggies and meat as a posed to not wanting them before. Its changed cravings for food in a good way which is bizarre in itself. I heard other people had various changes in diet also, like once a lover of french fries or chocolate felt nauseous even thinking about eating them. Its a strange one!

We weren’t made in a lab James the last few years show that. We don’t need more stuff in our body’s we need less of everything . People need the address the route cause of the weight the trauma thats in their body thats causing them to want to eat more or drink or drugs whatever it is. This video was interesting, specially when in combination with the ADHD video. I recently was diagnosed (or as much as you can be diagnosed by a psychiatrist and a seperate psychologist, I guess) with ADHD too. And started taking some medication to see how I felt. Apparently, the feeling that mentioned at 4:00 is something that can be connected to ADHD as well. We're impulsive, we want fast and easy "pleasures" so our brains can get that sweet ass dopamine hit. I was like that with food. I was not hungry, but I constantly felt like eating. A common side effect of the medication I'm taking is loss of appetite. Apparently, because your brain becomes better at managing those impulses, so you will tend to eat less. Now I'm the one leaving food on my plate, or serving a lot less, because I don't think I will need so much food. Just wanted to give that side note, since I also started following you recently. Keep up the good work James!

This is exactly the same with me, two month ago I was diagnosed with pretty severe ADHD and put on Adderall. I just don't feel cravings for specific foods any more. I don't crave snacks or sweets. I decided to track my calories when I started and was surprised to find out I needed to eat more not less. I'm down about 8-10kg's in two months, and only added exercise after I was down 4kgs. It's weird being able to plan out my meals and stick to that plan because I have no cravings. And that's just what it did for weight loss. Hi James I decided to lose weight this year, I actually started march 15th as that’s when I started recording it on my Apple Watch. I had lots of reasons for doing so. So I’m a 55 year old woman who on starting my regime I weighed 133.6kg I’m now 108.2kg that’s 25kg in 21 weeks. I started walking by doing short distances at first and now I’m doing 3 miles every night after work with my pace per mile from 13.45-14.45 per mile now on top of that I do 50 sit-ups, heel and toe raises on the stair, squats, leg lifts, scissor leg lifts and 25 pelvic thrusts. I also do stretching exercises as well. I have a diet protein shake in the morning low calorie food for work and lots of veg and brown pasta or brown rice etc as well as chicken or fish for tea. I do have some naughty treats as I’ve given up so much of what I like. But I’ve lost weight and gone from size 26-28 to a size 20 in clothes my way may be wrong but it’s working for me and my blood pressure is now normal and health and energy wise I’m feeling great and I’m not finished yet. Another 20kg to go ❤

But it sounds that you are doing everything very well. I was just concerne when you Said about giving up things you liked. That’s scary thing to think about at 27 years old with two beautiful little girls, so about a month ago I cut out energy drinks, bread, and candy, so far I’m 45 pounds down and once I loss 40 more I’ll hit my first target weight but currently I’m shooting for 250 as my max weight but I also don’t want to hit a certain weight and get comfortable and gain it all back. Just wanted to share my story and say thank you, I apologize for the long winded comment.

I would suggest U reach out to a Health Coach, affordable & long-term commitment is what U need. Get on 380lbs is a result of many years of neglecting your body & health through an unhealthy lifestyle, building bad habits & frankly thanks to a system we live in and allows us to freely access harmful products on the market that are merely regulated e.g. energy drinks, bread full of salt & sugar, ultra-processed food etc. etc. etc. To an extent this make people victim, the rest is our free will to reject these cheap affordable & convenient easily accessible products... and that's the hardest part. ... a good Health Coach can 💯 help eliminate these bad habits and not only that, but also identify & remove/improve other aspects in life that are contributing to this poor state e.g. sleep pattern, stress management, motivation, positive mindset etc. Good luck, seek like-minded people to keep your motivation going, remember that you're likely to be the same as 5 closest people you're surrounded by most 👈

Ok I tried this 2 years ago.. A little background-Im 58 yo male type 2 diabetic. 6'2" 260 lbs. My MD prescribed Ozempic for the diabetes and I wasnt active at the time and I thought OK I'll give this a try. I tried this for a month and felt terrible ie nausea,cramping and just general malaise. In addition I didnt lose any weight. Yes I know shocking! Fast forward to today. I am now 220 lbs and in good health with diabetes managed without any medicine through dietary choices and activity. I am very active with biking,rowing and weight training doing one of those activities 6days/week. I havent felt this good in many years. I just cannot imagine myself going back to my old lifestyle that put me in the sorry shape I was. Point of the story is- look at all the options in front of you.Ozempic is not the only one and it is not magic. Good luck to anyone that wants to make positive changes in their lives!!!!

The thing with Semiglutide is that it's only going to help you do what you are prepared to do with diet and lifestyle. It interrupts the insulin response and slows digestion. For people who need to loose weight this can help jumpstart you. If your metabolism is a scale from 1 to 10, where 10 is peak performance and 1 is sedentary, it can push the scale up 1 to 2 points. However if you are at a 1 and go to a 3, that's not going to be much weight loss. The key is if your at a 3-4 and struggling to get over the hump and push things in a very positive direction its great. If you are eating fiber, eating lean protein, reducing calories, increasing activity, and you take a GLP-1 inhibitor you will gain significant momentum. Why that is important in weight loss is because the more weight you lose the more efficient your metabolism gets. So if the drug can get you over the peak of the hill and onto the flats, or even a little into the down slope the work you are doing then will sustain you after the 20 weeks of normal treatment is complete. The real hope comes that if you are now operating at a level 5 or level 6 metabolism the momentum that you gain will help you try to transition into a level 6 or level 7. And that boost tends not to be something one can maintain. But if you stay on the uphill side of the metabolism hill once the drug has run its course you are going to slide backwards. Of course in James's case he is already at a 7 or 8. So GLP-1 was able to do its most power and get him all the way to a 10. Which as he indicated can be a problem. When you are at peak red-line metabolism you start draining resources from your body at extreme rates, and with something that slows digestion that can eventually lead to your body cannibalizing muscle mass. People operating at peak athletic levels usually start having to consume 6-8 or more meals a day to keep up with their body's intake needs. (Note these levels are just an arbitrary analogy and the metabolism is a lot more complex than that)

However I was taking it as I have type 2 diabetes. Symptoms are very common and most usually go away after a short period of time. This compound doesn’t make you lose weight from just fat specifically. It will cause you body to pull from your muscle tissue as well which is why a lot of people see rapid results. Muscle weighs more then fat, muscle will also hold more water…
@Smashedpuppet
@Smashedpuppet 7 месяцев назад
Yes but that’s largely because people are under eating, not having enough protein and not exercising, especially resistance training. If you lose weight fast with or without these drugs on a low protein diet and without using your muscles, you will start pulling energy from muscle tissue. It’s not the compound making you lose weight and muscle directly, it’s your appetite and inadequate intake in order to lose like 1kg a week, which is too fast for anyone who isn’t morbidly obese if for a prolonged period of time (q/2 month or more) At worst, do something like have a protein smoothie for breakfast, a protein shake (with milk/nut butter/a banana), then some meat for dinner. And do some weights for 15 mins twice a week if nothing else.

@jlb8061 Год назад
I wanted to comment on this because I used this drug for 5 months. I was supposed to use it for 6 months and I had to go up in dosage each month and after five months I had lost about 40 lbs. It absolutely worked by killing my appetite. But I had to stop after 5 months because the higher dosage really fucked up my taste and smell. I’m here over a year now after taking it, gained all the weight back and my taste and smell still isn’t right, although I did see improvements within days of stopping the drug. And it wasn’t covid, I was told by my dr that it was the medicine. My taste is almost back but my smell isn’t. Now, I didn’t lose my smell and taste like covid. Rather everything started to taste and smell like metal. So, did it work? Yes, but keep en eye out for those side effects. Ultimately if the drop in weight doesn’t motivate you to change your mindset and make fitness a lifestyle, then any weight loss you experience will be temporary anyway. After having done it, I wish I had just gotten on a consistent workout routine and made eating healthy a lifestyle. Anyway, that’s my experience. Not saying it’s bad, but it’s not for long term use and it needs to motivate you for long term change or else it’s a waste. Oh btw love your vids James. I’m finally back working on my health and trying to get things under control because of your videos.

It's interesting hearing this. I've always struggled to maintain ideal athletic weight. I've done many marathons, utramarathons, triathlons and endurance cycling events. However, my weight has always been much higher than competition within my height range. Constant extreme exercise keeps me fit and I'll podium in events, but the moment I suffer injury my weight explodes and it becomes this depressing cycle of trying to bring my weight back down again. It got to the point I stopped competing because I was so afraid of suffering another injury and weight gain. My diet is good (extremely clean) but like you said, there was never a plate I didn't clean. I found increasing protein caused me to lose weight, but I got to admit pill and powders are something I quickly forget to take. After a recent injury involving getting hit by a car, I've been really struggling to get the weight off and this stuff sounds like it might be worth it, if only for a brief period of time. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will reset how my brain's looks at food on plates.

@@ContentUniverse2024 Yes counted calories using cooked values (as opposed to uncooked gram volume counts). I've done this for over a month and it didn't change anything other than I realized I was eating a lot less than I thought I was. The gut bacteria thing is one that I've looked into but never used anything other than an over the shelf unrefrigerated supplements, which seemed to have no effect. I have looked into getting a proper microbiome, but was a bit turned off by the cost having not seen any change with the common versions. At this point, I've just gone back to crazy workouts combined with a lot more strength training to prevent injuries (something I neglected because I hate the gym) in order to maintain weight.

Yes, satiety is key. The way you described thinking about food all the time, is very relatable. I do too. And once you don't have that nagging feeling in the back of your mind that makes you get up and open your fridge 5 times a night, you can take back control of your food intake in a sensible way. Keto helped me with that, but I guess I'd go for this stuff too if I could get it. Lowcarb really helped me seeing food as a resource without the added uncontrollable cravings, and I'm convinced its this and this alone that makes keto/locarb work, forget all those claims about more efficient fat burning or whatever.

I100% relate to this…I have achieved the same feeling this drug gives by omad…eating 1 mean a day. And I’m flabbergasted that I can get the feeling of hunger for a bit but not be bothered by it and then it goes away. People don’t realised that the hunger /cravings/addiction feeling for food is totally different to the hunger feeling in “normal” people. It’s bit of a paradox…less you eat, less you feel hungry (cause insuline spike). I run 5/10km a day or do weights (now with protein shake after run) and still can go without food till dinner time.

It’s absolutely a valid question and an equally valid concern. Until I lost weight (60lbs) as part of a more physically demanding job, I never considered weight loss a thing, for a lack of better term, it just wasn’t something that was an option that I had in my mind even though I’d been told I needed to lose weight, so seeing that weight fall off completely changed how I looked at the whole fitness concept and got me asking a lot of questions and doing research. I put the weight back on during COVID (completely my fault), but having had that experience and knowledge of being smaller, it doesn’t make it easy to start losing it again, but it’s a very real and tanglible thing that I know is within my reach. It’s so hard to say what portion of people will have a similar reaction who just need that first big win and what portion just want the easy way out forever but, and to James’ point, it seems like something that may be worth trying to get that first kick in the rear and get people to open their eyes. The job I had was basically my ozempic, and if I hadn’t hadn’t lost that weight, I have no clue what path I’d have gone down

If you read the research abstracts, you realize that GLP1 antagonists drugs don’t just work by lowering caloric intake. To chalk it up only to that would be a disservice; it works in part by delaying caloric intake yes, but also by improving insulin sensitivity, increasing insulin secretion, and decreasing glucagon. It’s a bit odd bc increasing insulin should in theory make us fatter, so clearly there are other mechanisms at work that we don’t fully understand. For example patients have reported changes in mood (alleviating depression separate form the weight loss) and decreasing addictive behaviors and alcohol intake. Yes thats an excellent question! that’s why it’s so important for a Dr consultation first to ensure that patients meet a certain criteria before it’s prescribed to them . My worry is that people will see the likes of their favourite celebrity losing weight thanks to Ozempic but might not be able to afford 2-3k per year to buy a prescription so they end up sourcing it in street drug form or from the kind of ‘Dr’s’ that’ll give you a Brazilian butt lift in your own living room 😂 And we all know that ladies and gents of a certain age really don’t want to be messing with anything promotes muscle and bone density loss! The kardashians will be fine of course, cos they can afford the best healthcare and regular blood monitoring to ensure they don’t become nutritionally deficient but not everyone can afford the same.. but may still want the results . Remember when they said that dermal fillers dissolve within 6 months .. and now there’s women walking around with shelves on their faces instead of lips .. well I hope this drug doesn’t trigger a generation of middle aged people riddled with osteoporosis walking around looking like 90yr olds .. yikes! 🤣

If you're excessively obese, this would be an easy tradeoff. People don't realize the havoc that being obese raises on your entire body, particularly your cardiovascular system. If you can meaningfully lower your weight from obesity to a healthy range, even serious side effects are probably worth dealing with in the short term.

Hearing you talk about food is exactly what I would want to hear from someone that is giving fat loss advise. Not that people who've never struggled with food can't give good advise, it's just that they don't truly understand what it's like to struggle with over eating. One thing I have seen being reported with this is that the majority of weight loss for the average person is going to be lean mass. If you don't do resistance training while using this, it could be causing longevity issues because you lose muscle.

I've been overweight all my life. In 2010-2012 with the help of a dietician and exercise I lost 40kg. I've put that back on plus some extra! I am on week 4 of a GLP-1 medication. I've had no side effects and have lost about 4kg. At the moment I'm limited to what I can do for exercise as I have a back injury. I'm hoping to start resistance training and walking more soon. Since being on this drug the food noise has stopped and as James said you feel fuller quickly and just eat less. And while I'm here I also want to say not all obese people are lazy so don't judge them all until you know their story.

@@ClareCC0902 you just need to search for GLP-1 and artificial sweeteners, then you will find papers regarding the influence regarding that. general papers about the function of the L-cells contain the information on renewal of L-cells within approx. 3 days. studies about fiber show SCFA production for about two days. bacteria needs to be fed with fiber. you can find papers about scfa production from fiber and fasting. papers about glutamine repairing the gut lining and L-cells. that knowledge put together in the application of carnivore (steak+eggs) explains why it works getting rid of bad gut bacteria (no fiber, no sweeteners in steak+eggs) and repairing the gut (all aminoacids including taurine and tryptophan and of course enough glutamine in steak+eggs)

Hi James, great video and great for you to still be willing to change your opinion. I was on a different drug for a few weeks that had the GLP-1 as a side effect and I feel everything you said. Everything. It also worked just as you describe but I had to take a pill a day. I lost 20 pounds in 4 weeks, but I lost loads of muscle as well. Anyway, I was stupid in my approach, taking the drug and going for 5-10k runs every other day while eating as litle as the drug would make me. I would assume, if I would do it again today, if you try to take in as much Protein as you can stomach AND work out hard in the gym 3-4 times a week, that you can severely minimize the muscle loss. And as soon as you start eating "normal" again, combined with the hard training, muscle should just as quickly return. Whats your opinion on this. I go on vacation in December... and I am currently toying with the thought of going through another cycle in late Oktober/ earlyNovember to get shirtless-ready.

This might work for some people but for others its a nightmare. Im a personal trainer and my client was put on this by his doctor for weight loss. While he did lose weight, he was hospitalized twice, once saying he had pancreatitis, the second time to have his gall bladder removed. They believe it was caused by Ozempic. There are many, MANY more similiar stories out there, very easy to research. It's not worth the risks, he says despite the weight loss he wishes he never took it. Without his gall bladder, he's incredibly limited in what he is able to eat now and all his favorite foods are out of question. I suggest anyone interested in this so called miracle drug to research it throughoughly beforehand.

It’s to the extent you’re recommending it that’s the issue, with a few added seconds at the end to ‘balance’ it out. It’s a polarising hot topic and I fear you’ve gone for the high views here instead of offering more of a pragmatic approach (which I honestly think you usually do really well and I do like your stuff). This is just dangerous ground and I think you’re underestimating the impact you can have on people in more vulnerable positions- like teenagers.

@@HollyKennedy-l8p I think people will find in a video what they want to find in a video. The video could have beeen bleak but made a passing reference to weight gain, and some members of society will run with that and use it to justify taking these compounds. Trying to be objective, it seems like James was correcting a prior video were he had called out such substances, and trying to be more balanced. He talked about how he lost a lot of weight quickly, leading him to stop the course he was on, and even mentioned being sick trying to get a protein shake down - none of these are particularly incentivizing comments. There is a faction of society that are morbidly obese, and these compounds can help them drop weight to a point that starting exercise and healthy habits become a reality. It shouldn't be a tool misused by anyone trying to get from 10% to 8% BF, but as James explains, those unmotivated members of society, for whatever reaons, may struggle to start a healthy lifestyle as even 100 steps may leave them breathless. Another issue with excess adipose tissue is impact on hormones, especially testosterone, and therefore reducing the adipose tissue prior to kickstarting a gym routine may help with energy levels and a range of other factors. My takeaway, as a guy who'd like to drop 10lbs, but know I'm no seriously overweight, is that this is a useful tool for those who perhaps haven't worked out for years, barely get 6000 steps in a day, and perhaps overeat due to a range of factors in their lives. This will allow them to drop excess fat to more manageable levels for an exercise plan, possibly help with T levels, and perhpas even bring some back from the point of being pre-diabetic. It's not for everyone, and that was clear from the video - but people will see what they want to see.

Just started on it last week, tomorrow is my 'official' weigh-in but 2 days ago (so 4 days into the week) I was very happy to see I had dropped 5lbs, with no extra exercise just day-to-day stuff at work, probably about 10k-15k steps nothing major, no gym. Looking forward to seeing what the scales say tomorrow and very excited to go into my 2nd week. I dropped 10st years ago with slimming world (dropping that much weight took me over 3 years because I was clueless) but it has all crept back on in the last 5 years, this injection has made me realise I don't need half the calories I am eating every day and totally changes your mindset about food. I just wish they would bring one out for smoking lol but other than that, very happy so far.
