Please enjoy this NEW cut which includes mad reaction videos from the US, Japan and India via our Twitter page (at 6.51); additional footage and commentary inserted for effect including Lucas Moura in tears; as well as interviews from the Sydney Crew including Handsome Barry at half-time (at 1.07), and Denny, James, Davo and another top lad after the final whistle (at 5.22). See RUNNING TIMES further below for all video details.
For the final version we’ll be adding some interviews with some of the people in this video from Sydney, around the world as well as a few her were at the game too. If you were in the stadium and have any goal reaction footage let us know, we’d love to hear from you. Also if you have suggestions for other things to include let us know.
PS. Also, if anyone knows how to contact Dan, the guy who looks like he’s dying during first half, but comes alive in the Opera House dancing bit with me and a few lads at the end, can you tag him below, or have him DM us?
RUNNING TIMES/SEGMENT DESCRIPTIONS:
*0.00-1.05: 1st half at the Surry Hills Hotel in Sydney, worried faces, stiff upper lips.
*1.07-1.35: Half time - Cheese Room host Mr. Jolly interviews a dejected
but somehow hopeful, Handsome Barry Kouros of Sydney OzSpurs. He says we need to get the ball forward faster second half. :D
*1.36-1.58: 1st goal and reaction in the pub with commentary/goal b-roll.
*1.59-2.23: Onana’s save from Llorente, and then 2nd goal and reaction in the pub with commentary/goal b-roll. This is funny AF!
*2.24-3.52: Moura’s miracle 3rd goal and reaction in the pub with commentary/goal b-roll. Highlights include mass limbs of madness; light-bulb head guy doing his striptease-esque dance; Jermaine Jenas being speechless; and a few lads and lassies in complete and utter disbelief!
*3.53-4.28: Final whistle: Jubilation and relief in the pub.
*4.29-4.40: The pub sings “We love you Tottenham We Do!”
*4.41-5.21: The pub sings “Oh what a night, watching Tottenham on a Wednesday night…” includes shots of people still in utter disbelief, others look like they won the fackin’ Lotto, some in tears!
*5.22-6.19: Mr. Jolly interviews Denny, James, Dave and another top lad in the pub and asks how they feel; can we do Liverpool; and James wonders if Madrid is ready for Davo??? The lads firmly believe we can go the whole way, and Davo has the last word reminding us the amazing run we went on the final. :D
*6.20-6.50: Footage of Lucas Moura watching the goal on a phone with Brazilian commentary with the Sydney crew’s celebration inlaid.
*6.51-7.50: Spurs around the world go nuts when the 3rd goal goes in, or at the final whistle. Videos from Chicago; Philadelphia; Austin; Dallas; Atlanta; Japan; Mumbai; Arizona; and Tampa Y’bor.
*7.51-8.16: Interview with Handsome Barry Kouros; and “White Chocolate” David Ralph about getting permission to attend games at 5am. Barry explains his wife actually orders him to go the pub so he doesn’t wake the whole neighbourhood. The interview was done at half time. Note the humour still remained despite our precarious position at the time. :D
*8.17-9.02 : Mr. Jolly, Ben, James, Paul and Dan (the guy who looks like he’s dead first half), celebrate with a mad run and dance outside the Opera House. There’s a mental Mary Poppins inspired dance with a Spurs coloured umbrella, used to shield the lads from “Ajax tears”, as well a quick version of ”Let’s all have a disco!” The umbrella is shredded but somehow rendered still useful to Mr. Jolly, a bit like Spurs with our injuries and still somehow surviving all the way to the final.
*9.03-end: Mr. Jolly fulfills his promise pre-game to jump in the Sydney Harbour next to the Opera House if we made it to the final, after his fountain dances from previous rounds set the scene. This time he’s joined by Ben, who’s originally from London but been in Sydney for 2 years… (at 22 he’s exactly half Mr. J’s age :)... they leap in with joy, and then Mr. Jolly waves his Spurs shirt around his head while treading water in the harbour not far from where a diver lost a limb to a bull shark shouting Yes. Yes. Yes.
The video ends with the Sydney OzSpurs massive outside the pub before the game hands aloft in a happy and hopeful foreshadowing of the glory to come in just under 2 hours time. COYS! TTID, and let’s do the Red Scouse!
