As a new believer exploring Orthodoxy this was truly helpful. Especially when the Metropolitan said that we all have been given our own crosses to bear. So having much difficulty is not because of defectiveness or weakness I think he means.
I thank God and thank you Met. Demetrius, for these words. I found my heart being healed as I listened, and will save this interview so I may, God willing, remember to listen again.
Thank you. Archbishop Demetrius is one of the only people I know who, when he speaks, the flow of the grace of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, palpably drips down upon us. I recognize the truth of all that he speaks. These are things I used to know in my heart and soul, but fell away from. Now, when I hear them, I recognize them as true immediately. It reminds my soul that I used to live a better spiritual life, and pulls me back toward it. I feel like I have to listen to this man, for the peace and salvation of my soul. The life God has given me confirms every word Archbishop Demetrius says as truth...and I take every possibility to listen to him, with great thankfulness. His God given words heal and soothe my broken heart and soul. Thank you for sharing this video. It's helped me tremendously.
I truly was enlightened and encouraged by this especially the part on anxiety. Don't be scared or concerned about anxiety it can be used to draw you closer to God.
These were all very well put questions and enlightening answers. Thank you for sharing and please make more discussions like this one. People benefit from such videos even years after being posted.
Thank you so much for this video. My wife and I are both scheduled to be recieved into the Orthodox church through baptism this year on September 30th and we will both be giving our lifetime confession in a week or two. I have led such a sinful life for the majority of my life so having to sit and think deeply on my past has been so hard for me. Im remembering things I never thought I would have to think about again in my life. Im not afraid to confess what needs to be confessed. The hard part for me is knowing my spiritual father is going to know all of these horrible ugly things about me. Nonetheless I know it has to be done. This video was extremely helpful! All of that being said I can't even put into words how grateful I am that my wife and I found the church! I feel like for the first time in my life I will finally have an opportunity to know who I am and who I'm supposed to be in Christ!
Rejoice, my soon to be brother in Christ! With your confession and baptism you'll become as clean as the snow. And having these feelings of shame will keep you from coming back to the old man. May the Mother of God keep you both safe!
Bishop Demetrius is awesome, I’m binging on his sermons right now. A question that came into my mind watching this is do Priests sign any legally binding contract of confidentiality and do Priests and people in Church who teach children get police checks done before they begin their work? Thanks for any insight!
We're glad you enjoyed it! Bishop Maximus of Pelagonia was actually one of the first guests we ever had on Tea Time at the Seminary. You can find his episode about missionary work around the world here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0gHJ6Qf8qaw.html
I'm Thinking Of Looking Into The Orthodox Church Myself. First I Have To Find An Orthodox Church Myself. They're Kind Of Hard To Find.🌺🌺🌺🙏🙏🙏🇨🇦🇮🇱♾️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🦅🗽‼️
I have a question I haven't seen asked. What if you write everything down and think on it and go confess, but you have sinned so much that you forget some sin or maybe many sins? Would that disqualify your confession?
What about real mental illness such as inherited bipolar disorder and schizophrenia? Is it wrong to be prescribed medication. In tandem with a close relationship with the Church.
I just love the Metropolitan Demetrius. His calming voice is a wonderful medium for the wisdom he possesses and shares. 💜 His explanation resonates perfectly with my experience of confession. He is right, it does heal. But not as the world heals, confession heals from inside out, and the healing is permanent and true freedom is the outcome. It’s a miracle. When we go to confession, we participate in a miracle. If you feel fear of confessing something, just say it anyway. Anyone who will judge you is being judged by God, so there is nothing to fear. Care what God thinks of you, not men. All good advice given by the Metropolitan. Do what you need to do, but confess. Just do it.
Great interview. Metropolitan Demetrius is one of my favorite Orthodox people alive. Always wanted to see a video of him in a more interview like format. Thanks ☦️🙏
I enjoyed listening to the Metropolitan Demetrius of America. He made a lot of sense. As a traditional Catholic, I love to listen to various thoughts on the Sacrament of Confession. I think of all the Sacraments, this one is most misunderstood, so the more I can learn about it, the better I can understand it. Thank you so much and God bless you!
Thank you for this. Most will see this interview and get bored with the somber character and flow of His Eminence and this q&a, but for those really looking to get deeper in the faith...this is literally mana from heaven. Listen carefully and soak up this knowledge and understanding. The Bible is deep, the traditions are meaningful and beneficial for growth. I pray that more surface level Christians start to pursue God on a deeper level and understand the true meanings of what the Bible and the church teach. ❤
I was not bored and I actually found him luminous . I am a Catholic and have only experienced confession/ reconciliation in the Catholic Church but could totally relate to what he said. Very profound.
Thank you Despota for helping us to understand more about the heart and the head. And how to understand about how we should confess. Please teach us more about the teachings of our faith. Not every priest knows how to preach what the Orthodox Church teaches. Thank you Despota, and May God continue His blessings upon you.
I don’t wish to be uncharitable to my own Roman Catholic bishops, but to see a man of this caliber just underscores the dysfunction of the Catholic church. Pray for us.
Look into the Julian calendar and the Orthodox church which is Christ's church built on the foundation of the apostles and will remain until the ages of ages. God bless you
Truly enlightening and spiritually enriching. May God bless you to continue your good work any God raise many holy Christians like Metropolitan Demetrius. (From India)
confession isn't always easy but it's well worth it to be in friendship with God. lifelong experience trying to do right and to be freed up spiritually not easy but worth it, thank k you God❤
Hi love to learn as much as possible about our faith and it’s depths of knowledge. Just hearing about the old calendarist Church . And that it came about as a protest against the change in the 1930’s from the ancient calendar (in some sort of ecumenical effort ? Is that why ? ). if anyone can recommend a detailed history or analysis of what happened with this - thanks ! God Bless !
You can find a lot of information on the Orthodox Tradition RU-vid channel. There are a lot of sermons by Metropolitan Demetrios. Also, he has videos with questions and answers about the Old-Calendarists.
I very much appreciate the generous manner in which you share your knowledge in this video. It is remarkably interesting to watch and truly excellent. One sometimes feels isolated because the world runs to a different tune, but thanks to you speaking the truth you lift the spirits of those who are constantly bombarded by evil disguised as good. Blessings.
Thank you, Your Eminence for your Holy Guidance. Your talks are always filled with Truth in the Heart. All Praise and Glory to God for the Goodness that you share with us all.☦
Thank you and bless you for this interesting informative interview. I hope more come to follow and love Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Amen.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
