The real magic of the 80's , was the cellphone and the internet were non-existent . I believe the cellphone and the internet stripped everyone of creativity and individualality ... No one talks about today's music .

There wasn’t a big trend to release power ballads in the spring of 1985. Alone Again was one of the first power ballads to really take off, followed by Home Sweet Home, which really opened the flood gates.

Quiet Riot "Thunderbird," Scorpions "Still Loving You," Twisted Sister "The Price," Kiss "I Still Love You" and "A Million to One," Ozzy "So Tired," Def Leppard "Foolin', Night Ranger "Sister Christian" all came out in 1982-1984, so it was definitely a trend. It was probably kicked off by Aerosmith "Dream On," but you also had Alice Cooper doing "Only Women Bleed" and "I Never Cry." I agree that "Home Sweet Home" put it into overdrive though and made it mandatory.

Back in the 80's, when Dee Snyder interviewed Don, Don mentioned the story of the volcano.. Alone Again was the song that turned me on to Dokken. As a young woman, going through a particularly rough time in my life, having just lost my mother, this song was so comforting. 2 years later, I met one of my good friends who had contacts in the music world and I had the pleasure of meeting the band in person. They were some of the sweetest, nicest guys that I had met and they took the time to mentor me and give me advice which actually helped me become the woman that I am today. They had a profound impact on me and I was heartbroken all over again when they broke up. I considered them to be like surrogate big brothers and when they split, it was like losing MORE family members. They will always be special to me and it hurts when I hear about all the animosty and tension. Here's hoping that they make peace. We are all getting older and if one of them dies, I hope the others don't say, "we should have..( fill in the blanks)". I would say that to anyone who has a personal or professional bone to pick with someone. Forgive them, if possible, tell them but don't let it ruin you and the talent that you contributed to make life better for others.🤔

What a great story! Age can definitely alter your perspective on things that previously seemed SO important.

Fun fact: thr same person who played evh on the fair warning album is the same person who played the character of George lynch in 1985. Listen to beat it solo . That person played that as well.look at the pics

“Everybody knows the song Breaking The Chains; everybody heard the song, but nobody bought the record. I mean, it’s death; it really tanked.” - Don Dokken. lol. and he's right.

@@vynyly I know it from MTV around ‘83/‘84. It got some heavy play and was in rotation for a couple of weeks. I bought the next 2 records.😎

I don’t know where you got your information but Jeff Pilson contradicts all that about Don not being on drugs.
