This was the album where Queensryche first had their own original sound. So good.

Saw them twice on this tour once opening for AC/DC and once they were headlining they were absolutely amazing

One of my favorites, when i was overseas in the army i got a chance to visit Israel, we were walking the Streets playing this album on a ghetto blaster i had , in Eilat and Tel Aviv, we got some looks :)

Awesome album! I bought it when it first came out and thought it was ahead of it's time. I do believe it is one of the most underrated albums and has never gotten the recognition that it deserves.

The most unique metal album of the 80's. I bought the blue ring CD version the day it was released, have the blue ring album and cassette version also.

One of my favorite albums by anyone. Since no one else mentioned it....but all great comments.....since I'm a bassist myself Eddie Jackson is phenomenal. Killer tone & playing. Remarkably his tone live is just as good. First time I was in a good studio...a little while after this album came out...i brought a copy of the cd to the studio. Engineer asked what I was looking for in my bass tone...i put on gonna get close to you....said thats what I'm going for.

Geoff Tate had such a great voice, one of my favorites! Loved this Album and Operation Mind Crime, Empire was good too.

My favorite Ryche album (although Mindcrime is a masterpiece, of course). Still have my original blue ring vinyl.

Here's another one: I read that the very last sound you hear at the end of "Walk in the Shadows" was a car door slamming shut in a parking garage, which gave it a sharp, heavy sound, and a nice echo. Original lineup QR is my favorite band ever! Never get tired of the songs and the quality of their songwriting, musicianship, and unparalleled VOCALS. Met them all several times. Great guys! How I wish they were still together!

0:17 not '84, but '86. Anyway it doesn't matter. Back in the day, no one understood what this thing was all about. The mid '80s notion of "the faster and the heavier, the better" led to a gazillion of people dismissing it as gay, as crap, as pretentious, as pop etc. Especially from the thrashing part of the community. A few years later, they all ate their hat, swallowed their humple pie whole and went on to start listening to a bucketload of technical, introvert and esoteric bands. Nowadays and rightly so, this thing, is the first prog metal album, which in itself says nothing, if it wasn;t for the unbelievably good songs in it.

I thought their image was cool for that album. I wish they had developed it, but making it darker.

The video for "Gonna Get Close To You" is kinda glossed over now days because it's basically the band stalking a model :-)

I liked Operation Mindcrime and Empire better.

Rage for order is so underrated after this album I lost interest. What you didn't like mindcrime no I didn't the warning is my favorite brides of Dracula pictures to damn Glam
