I know this series occasionally suffers of unfortunate visual moments from the limitations of 80's animation, but man, look at the choreography and how they make the characters dance and gesture. There is so much being communicated here, it really is like a music video and there really was some creative talent behind this show. Pizzazz's posturing in this video in particular is just awesome.
There's ups and down in the series because when they were running out of time the studio in Japan outsourced the episodes, but in this particular video they made one of hist best jobs that paired with the great fashion and empowering message of the song turn it into one of the best videos of the series.
im very fucking late but this is because (once they got the budget thanks to the numbers on sales) they were able to afford better animation for their series, and get animators over seas to animate their music videos and even some of the episodes :) this was done by Toei animation! the same studio that animated dragon ball
I love how it’s Pizzazz of all characters to sing a song with such a positive and powerful message. As bad as she is, you gotta admire how hard she tries to get her band to the top. Her dedication is probably even stronger than Jem’s, which is what made her perfect for this song.
This is one of my favorite Misfit songs, it shows how lovely Pizzazz's singing voice is, also this song is very Pizzazz. She certainly wasn't the type to set and home and wait for stuff to happen she went after what she wanted.
That's the irony of the show for me. Jerrica was such a doormat, while Jem was passive-aggressive and indecisive. The Misfits did what they wanted on their terms.
i LOVE the Misfits! Stormer and Roxy are my favourites, but I really like all of them. A lot of the Holograms are quite bland by comparison. You can tell the Misfits really struggled to get where they are - even Pizzazz, who is a spoiled rich brat, had to struggle with a cold, emotionally distant father who thought throwing money at his daughter was a substitute for parenting. Her background explains a lot why she feels the need to have such a big, brash personality - only way to get noticed! And her lack of self-worth because of parental neglect explains why she feels the need to be so hard and tough - it's a self-defence/survival mechanism! They're all such great characters😁
One of the best of the Misfits songs. The great thing about Jem is that as the series got older it got more mature. It let the villains be more than just villains and let the heroes be more than just paragons.
It was a rare cartoon with character development. Pizazz mom died, Roxy couldn’t read, Stormer was good at heart but she felt she needed to belong to something
Can we just take a moment and appreciate the bass lines featured in this song? It's just so catchy and memorable. Definitely one of the best tracks from the Misfits!
A BOP to this day!! Misfits top 6 jem can't compete. The EDGE & CONFIDENCE WAS UNMATCHED!! 1. GIANT 2. UNIVERSAL APPEAL 3. DESIGNING WOMAN 4. QUEEN OF ROCK & ROLL 5. I LIKE YOUR STYLE 6. OFF & RUNNING
I remember watching this animation when I was growing up in Korea back in the 80s… it was dubbed in Korean but only the songs were all sang in English I absolutely had no idea wth they were saying but loved it!!! And yes! This was one of the best things ever 😅😂 a bit weird now I can 100% understand what they’re saying it sounds so different
I was 6 years old when I saw this, I love Jem but in this amazing moment Pizzazz teach me the most importan advice for my future life: "Bad girls have fun like no one". I love everything of her in this song, she is absolutly gorgeous and perfectly evil ❤️🥰❤️
The Misfits WON The Battle Of The Bands With "Takin' It All" OK? Let's face this fact no matter WHAT the show dictated. xD They rocked this show... Jem had some really good tunes but The Misfits just stole the show imo.. Even when The Stingers came.. The Misfits STILL came out on top!
popi2971 now that's tricky. I like jem, and here music is good but at times it's a little too syrupy sweet ya know? Like with "that's not the real me", it made me want to scream "woman you bust your ass 3 different ways can you pleas act a little spoiled?! It might do some good" but I do have a few favorite songs "let me go" "too close for our own good" and "nightmare" are my top 3
Shame how she takes such a bad turn in character development when Sting comes into the picture, and she totally loses her charm as she devolves into a lovestruck fangirl being used for her money, ironically becoming the very woman she mocks in this song.
0:12 Wait wait wait!!!!...."CA-NIKE...SheBok...TUNA...REVERSE...raddidis...WTF... HHHmmm...I can buy a pair of REVERSE "Brook Sailor Super Star"!!!....Hahahahahaha....
Well, at least I know some of you are still "making it" after those "not so joyous holidays" of 2013. And yes, it still gets clearer by the issue, TMF...
Yea, I can see you're beginning to post cleaner versions of several of the original videos already, particularly of the longer (1:15-1:30 length) ones. Can't wait for more stuff...
I know that the movie is an abomination, but Kesha still would have been PERFECT as Pizzazz. Her music video for 'Woman' is essentially just like this. Female empowerment.
It's a visual gag. Check out the boxes that the clerk is carrying at 0:12, they're all jokes on popular shoe brans Ca-nike = Nike, Shebok = Reebok, Tuna = Puma, Reverse = Converse, Raddidis = Addidas
