Of course, all the sequences a well drawn and that makes the song more appealing, the visual result plus the song makes it an outstanding from that trilogy of episodes, note that Pizzaz earings look like Jem's in some frames...
This actually slaps. The reason villains songs hit so hard is because they are incredibly cathartic. The lack of shame, remorse or any inhibition that tells you not to do something, the feeling that goes "fuck it. I am the best and ill get whatever i want and do whatever i want"
Just like rock songs in real life. What's not to love? I've always thought Lzzy Hale or someone could do a complete album of Misfits covers. They're solid rock tracks!
No such thing as too much bass. Beside the lyrical comparison of Pizzazz's ego and celestial bodies, the bass line in the Halley's Comet part is what makes this song. Also important to note that this was the first episode not to end with a Jem song in Act III.
Jem and the Holograms for the most part had great animation for its time! I really admire the effort. And like the comment above says it was done in Japan by Toei Animation! Although 5 episodes (the ones with horrible animation, like the episode "Video wars") are done by a Korean Studio, I can't find any information on them though.
Yeah, the original miniseries animation wasn't that great, but when the first season was greenlit for production, they had a much bigger budget and it REALLY shows.
I like how Stormy and Roxie's choreography! The animation was just a second slow, but you can tell whoever choreographed these music videos had real skill! Can you imagine this being made today?
This is hot! One of my favorite songs out of the entire show. (i haven't heard anyone use the term DAT in YEARS...man, taking them tapes to studios and live shows back in the day...lol now an entire performance set can be on someones cell phone, time keeps marching on)
The misfits songs are actually more better than Jem's. It's catchy and it sounds good. I mean, I know they're messages for most songs are....NEGATIVE. But their songs are still good.
Just because the message is better does not mean the songs themselves are better. And it depends on taste. Jem's songs are more pop, The Stingers more rock, the Misfits more...punk. And I like pop, but I like the Misfits songs so much more than the Holograms'.

LOVED this Misfits jam when I was kid in the 80s, love it as an adult in 2022!!! Cool animation to accompany the lyrics too! I personally prefer Pizazz's voice to Jem's.
Someone said in the comments that this is The Misfits best song, I think Congratulations To Me is #1 but is by far my #2! Either way, The Misfits music was technically meant to be looked at as selfish, self centered and less meaningful than J &H’s however I always disagreed with that idea. J & H’s music was positive, uplifting, flirty, girlie and communicatory. But back then some decades ago I always felt empowered by The Misfits music and felt encouraged to put me 1st! When I was in college I used this song for a campaign female empowerment project for a class and won! J &H writers were phenomenal and I commend them even though I don’t know them. Universal Appeal and Congratulations To Me should be female anthems in today’s world!!
Yes that extra "universal" is edited in to extend the song slightly in the episode. I am not sure why since it's such a minor extension but I actually like it with the extra "universal". I may have to edit it in for myself ^_^
I might use this in an episode of Brianna’s Truly Outrageous Adventures with Jem where we go to a planetarium. The working title for this might be “Spaced Out and Star Struck”.
at 00:45 It never occurred to me when I watched this show as a pre-teen that some of the scenes in the music videos could be a little far-out for younger viewers. No kid watching would have expected their vision to be hit straight-up by that close-up shot of Pizzazz's "bust"!
