I know this was "just" a kids' show a long time ago, but I'm kind of surprised that people don't legit cover some of these songs and flesh them out a bit more. This is a great tune with really cool, creepy lyrics.
have you heard of the band spleen? they exclusively covered jem songs and they would even embrace the hologram thing by pretending to be their own fans
They helped yes. But JEM & crew still had to clear their names by leading the authorities where the rest of the jewels were which lead em to the real thief I swear these 2 groups should just join forces. Oh wait they did kinda sorta. Long enough split mash up for 2 Separate episodes. 3 if you count the final episode when EVERYBODY IS SINGING & getting along. 😎 🎉😂❤
@@kagomecc461 Yeah the few times they teamed up they were successful In the episode "the Bands Break Up" Kimber and Stormer do a collaboration that is successful in the club scene and results in an album that goes double platinum in the episode "The day the Music Died" the Misfits joined all 3 groups and broke every existing record (but still lost money LOL) That set the stage for the truce in the final episode
Also in In Stitches Shana got the design credits for both the Jem and the Holograms and the Misfits (so it was actually irrelevant as to which band won the costume contest)
I remember as a kid watching the Culture Clash episode and noticed that when The Misfits are in the studio "recording" this song they sang, "Wait'll see, what's in store for you." And I was like... wait, something's not right here. Haha! Incredible! I absolutely love this! It sounded out of place and weird at first since I'm so used to the edited version from the show. I can see why they might have edited it down to make to sound more quick and to the point- I don't know.
Surprise Surprise is one of my top 10 favorite Misfits songs of the entire series. Then when I found this version with the missing verse included that the original episode cut out for time, Surprise Surprise became one of my top 5 favorite Misfits songs of the entire series.
"Surprise Suprise" always felt SO disjointed to me in the cartoon and now I realise why! The 2nd line of each section has been snipped out, I kinda always thought because the episode was about experimental art that "Surprise Surprise" was written in a disjointed experimental type way (whilst still featuring a recurring melody to keep it pop and 'kids cartoon'). Wow I'm totally freaked out by this !! So weird knowing the song since I was 10 years old and now suddenly it's different !!
as a little awkward as the additional lyrics sound in certain spots I am so glad that this has finally been released ( well I found it ). I knew about the "wait till see what's in store for you" from the re-rehearsal scene in the show but I had no idea there were more. "Surprise, Surprise" is my favorite Misfit song of all time. The music is so crazy and awesome. Not to mention the maniac laugh xD
hellz yeah that fkn' crazy laugh!!!!! makes this song at the time just totally insane.. fitting for The Misfits. Again my favorite song ever. I can't get over it. And there are soo many more but this takes the cake.
after 2 years I am back to listen to my FAV Misfit song ever!... and I meant to say "This Takes The Cake To Jem's Face" Hahahaha..... SURPRISE! ........ BAMM! xD
There's an episode where I remember the line, "Wait til you see what's in store for you" is sung. Possible during a concert scene. Great to hear all the additional lyrics. Even when they used this song again they didn't include extra verses/lines.
Love it i always liked the Misfits and Stingers better then Jem they just are too goodie goodies...The Misfits took risks it might not always have worked out but they are amazing singers and look better.
You know! Interesting you say that, I did love this show as a kid and of course Jem I was about 12 years old . I remember my male cousin that was 8 years older than me (he actually loved music) he wouldn't watch it he was just there....one day he told me " You know the Misfits are the ones with the better music, they are daring" He was right, Jem's music was cute and romantic and goody goody. My cousin, may he rest in peace...he was right.
@@mazdamx6686 hee well your cousin was right and yes The Misfits are daring and much better music plus their outfits are good too. Sorry to hear about your cousin.
I don't know, but they're very gifted, I'll give them that. ;) lol `Glad I'm not the only one at a complete loss of words that caught that and was scratching their head! lol
Naybe the staircase was going downward?? Ok, it doesnt look like it, but still lol! Or maybe it's one of those moving walkways and rails like at the airport...or maybe I'm just making that up to justify their movements lol
Thank you so much, i was actually going to ask if you had this one. I always knew there were more lyrics because of the line they sung in practice, but i did not expect this much more! Kudos!
What I find especially fascinating here is that this demonstrates what a good job the editor of the episode did. IMO, they succeeding in cutting all of the song's weakest lines--like Pizzazz's odd mixed metaphor, "Open your eyes, listen to what I say"! Still, it's truly remarkable to hear the full-length version. Could Roxy and Stormer be any more adorable? Love the little wave Roxy gives as Stormer delivers the package at 0:23.
"Brains for dinner- brains for lunch- brains for breakfast- brains for brunch- brains at every single meal- why can't we have some guts?!" -a MUCH better Misfits song!
Since this version has additional lyrics it'd serve as a nice base for extended, "radio mix" and "dance mix" versions by the JatH-based loaders who specialize in those... It couldn't sound better, Chris...
Love this song, and this episode. However, I was always surprised (no pun intended) that Stormer didn't take issue with trying to frame The Holograms as jewel thieves--she usually did the right thing and stopped The Misfits when they tried to get Jem in any *real* trouble.
