Wanna get it for free? go here: thejemplayer.ji... The We're Finally Here! Extended Version of Universal Appeal reached to youtube today :D Thanks to: Taffeta (Britrock) for the Instrumental :D
02:51 It never occurred to me when I watched this show as a tween that some of the scenes in the music videos could be a little far-out for younger viewers. No kid watching would have expected their vision to be hit straight-up by that close-up shot of Pizzazz's "bust"!
This song would've charted. How would the creators of this song feel if they knew that? Pride, Disappointment, Resentment, Endowment? Tell me if you had a hand in creating this music.
Universal appeal, that was my hit back in the 80s as a teenager because I’ve watch this cartoon over 30 years ago back in Philadelphia when it aired on Philadelphia’s WTAF channel 29 back and 86 because this extended edition of universal appeal is very cool here and this is why I like cartoon state has the stuff.
Haha, same here! `Here`s the crazy thing, the other day I was thinking `Hey I Wonder what Jem and the Holograms would be like now at 37 as opposed to 8 years old...` and when the songs played they were SO FAMILIAR. `Universal Appeal` especially was a song I would recall but never really know where it was from other than one of a slew of random songs from the 80`s. And I started watching the series again online one night randomly and BAM! There it IS!!! THAT SONG!!!! I didn`t even remember the lyrics just the chorus tune and it`s like... wow.
Universal Appeal is my favorite Misfits song, it is totally cool 😎🌻 and it rocks. My favorite group is Jem And The Holograms are my favorite group, but The Misfits have their own flair and style. 👠🎹🎸🎵🎶🌹💕🌈🔆
How many times I have to say that the cartoon's "creative barn" should've called them "The Femme Misfits" to get around (did have to face their IRL lawyers back then) the fact that the name was taken from that IRL punk rock band (that STILL PLAYS 30+ years later)? To each its' own (and I'm not whom to judge, since both have their proper place, and well deserved at that...). * to an all-inclusive fandom...
I really love this video because I remember watching the Jem cartoon series back in 1986 back then when the Netwerk WTAF 29 once aired the first season of this cartoon show back around Saturday September 1986 because I remember they once had a toy franchise based on this cartoon, and today, I have the complete series of this cartoon on a DVD box set.
The Misfits were DEFFINATLY the better band! Metallica covered "last caress", "green hell" and "die die my darling"... but Metallica NEVER cover ANYTHING by Jem n the Hollograms!
Let me put it this way to not get the bad impression between the "punk" lovers of the IRL Misfits (the band is still playing as of late '14 and they were in the flesh for the very 1st time in Puerto Rico just before I've typed this) and the (surprisingly mostly adult) lovers of this cartoon series, let's call the animated version "The Femme Misfits" (should've called them that way from the beginning to forgo the lawyers...). That would put everything separate and in perspective...
I am saying this only once. the band name Misfits is not owned by middle aged men who named the band after the Marilyn Monroe film of the same name. so they took it from another themselves. I don't believe it was a big meeting where the executives said "I think we're going to use the Misfits, because it will piss off fans of a band that only made A few albums, and here in 1983-84 we can see the future, and by golly, there will be a new band in fifteen years worth a new singer, drummer, and guitar player. yep, that's it, piss them all off". get a clue people, they were "MISFITS" of society in this false cartoon world, and the cartoon was for little kids 7-11, maybe up to 13? Not that serious if an issue, I know all about this stupid argument, the hubby is Danzig/misfits freak.
Hahahaha thank you for sharing it, this was a long time and no excuses it seems it was out of the right spot, possibly not on purpose but yeah it was released that way 😅
@@Superjavian of course, I read and try to reply to everyone, thanks to your post, I noticed that I haven't liked many of the comments here but is not on purpose back then the love the comment option was not available as well so I did a nice catch up, I am glad you like them, thank you for being here!
I really liked the french voice actress for Pizzazz's singing voice, but this was the only Misfits song recorded in French. Is there any chance of L'unvers A Mes Pleds extended version?
If you've followed the Series enough you'd find that this is about par (since Day 1) for the "character" of all of "The Femme Misfits" members. This made them so interesting to listen and watch.
Jack Mensah-Bonsu The arrogance of the Misfits served to contrast them with the more whimsical and cutesy Jem and the Holograms. While their hubris, particularly Pizazz's was a flaw of their character, it was also quite admirable to see how utterly self-confident they were, something many women are challenged by. The Holograms's songs came off as topical to the developing plot while the Misfits found their focus in their ambition.
DvF (Me) Extended (longer version of the original song) WFH (We're Finally Here, the name of the free album where the song is found) Version (there is another DvF extended version that is completely different from this one) - I hope this explanation helps :D
