Sir, I would just like to say thank you so much for this wonderful story. Being a retired Air Force member, I deduced the NORAD element of your story a little early. And so, buy the time you had reached the end of your story, I was in tears. There are a lot of tough jobs you have in the military...some you may never be allowed to relate...even to your dear wife. This is one story I thank God was allowed to be shared. Thank you! And though it is now 2018, please allow me to offer you a belated but very heart-felt "blessed Christmas."
The Norad Santa Tracker has always been a big tradition in my family. I remember running around the house with my cousins as we announced where Santa was. I still track Santa as an adult just because it brings back such special memories.

My kids and I search Norad every year to track Santa. My oldest now 18 now assumes the computer tech role to share with her younger siblings. She still gets excited and remembers fondly on how I showed it to her when she was little. ❤
Dear Mike, I know you probably won't ever see this but since I'm not a member of Twitter or Facebook this is where I share. Like many of your fans, I feel compelled to say thank you for what you do. You are a wonderful throwback to a time when being American was cool. A time when people from everywhere would come to be "AMERICAN". We were a culture that the rest of the world dreamed of being a part of. Immigrants came here to BECOME AMERICANS. They assimilated into our culture. No matter what religion they were, they celebrated Christmas. Because That is what AMERICANS DID! Yes America was a melting pot. And no individual culture would DICTATE to the majority, how they should live. Or, celebrate their national Holidays. We had Leaders that understood where the values, that we as a culture, held dear, came from. A value system based on the teachings of a Man named JESUS. A value system that is the basis for our own CONSTITUTION. That it has become a point of contention to wish someone "MERRY CHRISTMAS" is a sad and worrisome thing to many Americans. As one of those who finds the PC world of CORRUPT Politicians and their UN AMERICAN Constituents that have bullied their way into what WAS once a free country of patriotic CITIZENS, I just want to say say; Thank you. For holding the line.
Mike, thanks for the story. There is some sort of magic that makes grown men go out of their way for kids, it was alive 60 years ago and it continues today. It's part of what makes the world a good place to live.

Mike is such a class act. Loved his show and I love what he's doing for the country right now, with this channel and with the comments he's made on some of the shows he's recently appeared on. We need a boost of morale and a reminder that there is so much good in this country and in human beings. All we have to do is tap into it and appeal to the better angels of our nature.
You are very blessed, Mr. Mike Rowe. You are a great storyteller, great in commericals, in radio, t.v., a man of many talents. I liked watching Evening Magazine with you and Malou Nubla. Both worked wonderful together.

Just stumbled over this video (and of course had to watch it (I had seen the other one)) -while I have heard the podcast (more than 5 times) I hadn’t see this. I lived in Colorado Springs for over 30 years...I loved that NORAD did the service of tracking Santa. Keeps us all young. ♥️
My dad worked at NORAD in the 60’s and I thought that the reason for the work he did all year was so they could track Santa on Christmas Eve! After all- what could be more important? ❤️

Mike, I've grown to love 'the way I heard it'. The stories have proven to be just what I need when I'm having an off day and need to be reminded that things do work out and that small beginnings are not always connected with small endings. I especially enjoyed this one as I am what is charitably called a Christmas Nut. I know you work hard raising money for your charity and wanted to offer a suggestion. If you, when you feel you have enough, we're to gather these stories together and bind them. I and many other people I suspect would be happy to buy volume 1 of The Way I Heard It by Mike Rowe. You could self publish and sell them with enough of a markup to cover costs and help Mike Rowe Works. just a thought but there's an open spot in my library waiting.
I have no memory of ever believing in Santa Claus. Always knew it was a logical and logistical impossibility. I did get my share of presents, but rarely anything I wished or hoped for.
