The Missing Boba Fett Prototype 

Hope someone finds that FIGURINE

My Aunt just found a 100% real all grey rocket firing Boba Fett prototype One of about 25 I believe. It just got authenticated and is at the grader and will be auctioned in June.

I saw the Boba Fett prototype at a diner in Kalamazoo, Michigan having breakfast with Elvis.

I remember my friend having a figure similar to that. He visited family in Cincinnati. They gave him a tour of Kenner. He was given an Xwing Luke and a rocket firing Boba Fett, the only one I ever saw. A couple years later, I remember him selling at a joint yard sale we had as kids. The rocket was missing and I already had a Fett so I didn’t buy it from him. I was so jealous of him when he came home. Not only did he get the tour, but he played wiffleball with the neighborhood kids there. They were Ken Griffey Sr.’s kids.

Rocket firing Boba Fett doesn't hold a candle to Double telescoping Farmboy Luke...

I plan on finding it in a box of junk at a garage sale this summer. I'll send you an update when I do.

I saw this bobba fett on Craigslist. The guy wanted to meet me behind a dumpster to collect it!.. he didn't show. I was gutted.

I remember my brother receiving the Boba Fett in the mail it had no rocket firing capability nothing and there it sat but still it was Boba Fett.

Even more elusive and mysterious is the Farmboy Luke Prototype.

Crazy, so the Gus Lopez from the Dark Side of Collecting video with the scammer Ren, is the same one that made the Jediarchives? That's pretty cool! Just watched the other video earlier today and then now this one.

I still want this figure exactly how it looks here. Can't believe Hasbro hasn't made it yet. In fact, now that I'm thinking about it - besides the figure we got not having the promised rocket firing feature, I remember being kind of disappointed it didn't look like the prototype. I mean, I didn't trade it in for another figure or anything and I was still very happy to get it just like everyone else but, I really liked that prototype.

I always assumed that the term "kit bashing" originally comes from combining parts from different model KITS to make something new. Seems like that was where it was most common at first. So technically, the Death Star trench was a kit bash by George Lucas.

Rocket firing Boba is the stuff of legend!

Appropriate that there’s such a bounty for the best bounty hunter in the galaxy. I like that there’s the painted “horns” on the helmet, among other small details that could be mass produced

Imagine having this figure as a kid, just to make it suffer the same fate as some of the other figures in the line.., by blowing it up with a fire cracker...

There is a guy who re-created the kit bashed Boba Fett. It's incredibly accurate to the photos and made the same way as the old Kenner figures. I bought one. It's a little pricey, but it's a cool collectors piece.

I used to stick my sister's Barbie doll heads on my MOTU figures to get her mad so maybe if you pop the head off it would be found?

This is something that will be found in another country like the land speeder prototype. The page offering the reward should be put in multiple languages. It could be in South America or Japan.. who knows

Damn dude. When I was growing up my dad worked at Kenner, and he brought home a box full of these. Of course being kids we dismantled, and buried them. Let the Dog chew them apart. I bet they would be worth something today. What do you think?

I LOVE the kit bash version of Boba Fett! So much so that when I got the real Fett in the mailer box, I remember being very disappointed as I felt the shipping figure was nothing like the cool figure in the ads and did NOT even look like. Real Star Wars figure! Seriously, I didnt like Fett with his purple coloring (his body color always looked violet to me, though I suppose it may be more of a baby blue? Anyway, it just didnt seem to fit in with my other beloved figures and looked like it was from some other line. Oddly, the non-firing back pack didnt bother me much at all, or at least I dont recall being too bothered by it. By then the Battlestar Galactica toychoking death was well known and my Cylon Raider and Colonial Viper both had the annoying “press to launch but just hangs out the edge”. So I remember wondering if they changed it for that reason, even tho Fett didnt fire at all, and I wondered why Kenner didnt just do it like the BSG toys and have it catch the edge and not be fully removable. But the thing that bothered me more than even the purple body color was his helmet shape!!! It looked so cool on the ads, all sort of bulbulous and insectoid like that I had committed that shape to memory, and the Fett toy I received just seemed so angular and too small. Glad to see so many others like the Prototype as much as my 8 year old self! :-). I do recall seeing Stan Solo had made a Prototype figure for sale, but by the time I found it, it was sold out or I couldn’t afford it, cant recall for sure. I was also later heartened by the Retro Mandalorian FIgure as I recall thinking his helmet had the closest look totally he Fett Prototype that I had seen! May even try kitbashing my own using Retro figures now that I know the recipe and with the Mando head and some Sculpey to do the chest armor. And he’ll be in that oppressive cool gray, not that bright purple/baby blue body that always bugged me so much (tho, ironically, I absolutely am obsessed with getting the 6” Black Series Kenner Deco Fett, which I missed out on and now it haunts me it looks sooooo good! I tried painting one myself, but can’t get that annoying color right or even close, which may be a sign my color cones just aren’t perceiving the color properly (anyone know for sure what the color is? Pantone code? LOL!). Of course the late line Fett had a much lighter body color (or was that just a factory variant rather than an intentional running change in deco?). In any case, that’s my recollections of KitBash Fett!

Ah yes, the old Boba Fett prototype. One of the coolest 3.75" figures ever made. Imagine my disappointment like a million other kids when my free figure came in the mail and it was completely different from the picture. Does it still exist? I think it does and some lucky son of a gun has it somewhere. I refuse to believe that anybody at Kenner would destroy or throw away something that cool and unique. Oh yeah, that figure is worth more than 10,000 bucks but unfortunately, what Star Wars fan has that kind of money? Only a celebrity!(whch is most likely who has their hands on it!).

Just thinking that someone might have thrown it away is a sad thought.
