My dad used to play this on his Thorens turntable. Both are long gone, but it was nice to hear this again.

Mi padre tiene este álbum, y yo lo escuchaba de niño, impresionado por la calidad de sonido. Recuerdo particularmente peace train y el solo de batería. Escuchando este disco por you tube noto diferencias de ejecución en los temas

I have this same album, yet it's different. Almost like a different recording. EDIT: And then I see people saying the same thing in the comments below!

This is due to the different takes o sessions they made in order to have a direct recording to the master disc, as master discs can only output a limited quantity of records before loosing quality

You've got some background noise that you may want to find out what it is and get rid of it and re-record this. My copy is the tower logo not the flower. There might be 3 versions of this.

At least 3 versions. I have SL3/SL4, SL3-2/SL4-8, SL3-3/SL4-9, and one that I think is SL3/SL4-8.

I have 3 copies of this album. This copy is a tower logo with (SL3-2/SL4-9) AND (SL3-3/SL4-10). Upon opening this album, the interior is white with black lettering which is different than the other two copies I have. Of the other copies, one is tower logo and the other is flower logo. They both have the same numbers which are (SL3-2/SL4-8) AND (SL3-3/SL4-9). Upon opening these two, they are both grey with white lettering. If you are interested, I also have the first album on here. I have Sheffield S-9 on here 3 times. A side 1, side 2, and the full album.

@@mogsaz You're not going to believe this, but I dug out all of mine and I have 7 copies in front of me! I have no idea how I ended up with so many. All of mine have the tower logo on the jacket and maroon record labels. In the upper right corner inside the gatefold there's two sets of number, but the record labels should only have 1 number, so double check what your labels say compared to the jacket. Here's what I have: 1st copy: SL-3/SL4-9 on labels, grey inside the gatefold with white text, (SL3-2/SL4-8) (SL3-3/SL4-9) 2nd copy: SL3-2/SL-4-8 on labels, grey inside gatefold with white text. (SL3-2/SL4-8) (SL3-3/SL4-9) 3rd copy: SL3-2/SL-4-8 on labels, grey inside gatefold with white text. (SL3-2/SL4-8) (SL3-3/SL4-9) 4th copy: SL3-2/SL-4-8 on labels, grey inside gatefold with white text. (SL3-2/SL4-8) (SL3-3/SL4-9) 5th copy: SL3/SL4 on labels, grey inside gatefold with white text. (SL3-2/SL4-8) (SL3-3/SL4-9) 6th copy: SL3/SL4 on labels, grey inside gatefold with white text. (SL3-2/SL4-8) (SL3-3/SL4-9) 7th copy: SL3-2/SL4-8 on labels, white inside gatefold with black text. (SL3-2/SL4-9) (SL3-3/SL4-10) Copies 1-6 all say Sheffield S-10 (SL3-2/SL4-8) (SL3-3/SL-4-9) inside the top right corner of gatefold. Copy 7 has white inside gatefold & black text, Sheffield S-10 (SL3-2/SL4-9) (SL3-3/SL4-10) in the upper-right corner of the gatefold. Four copies SL3-2/SL4-8 Two copies SL3/SL4 One copy SL3/SL4-9 I don't have any that are SL3-3/SL4-9 or SL-3-3/SL4-10. My dad has 3 copies of this at his house, 2 are tower logo, 1 is morning glory logo. One tower copy of his is for sure SL3-2/SL4-8, with grey inside gatefold with white text, which seems to be the most common. In the liner notes it says they had 2 lathes for Side 1, and cut two lacquers for each take. For side 2 they only had one lathe (2nd was rented) but it doesn't say how many takes they cut. It has to be at least 4 since there's SL4, SL4-8, SL4-9, & SL4-10. Now I have to track down a copy that has SL4-10 on Side 2. I'm going to have to do needle-drops to compare all of these different lacquers, and also try to figure which takes they used for the CD. Side 1 lacquers: SL-3, SL3-2, SL3-3 Side 2 lacquers: SL4, SL4-8, SL4-9, SL4-10 Combinations available that I know of: SL3/SL4 SL3/SL4-9 SL3-2/SL4-8 SL3-2/SL4-9 SL3-3/SL4-9 SL3-3/SL4-10 I also have 2 copies of S-9, 3 or 4 copies of Missing Linc Vol III; two are sealed, one Take 5, the other Take 6. I think I have 3 copies of Thelma Houston; 1 is sealed.

I'm guessing your album cover has the Sheffield flower logo, not the tower like is pictured in the video. Different takes have the different logos.

The copy I have recorded here is the tower logo, but I also have one with the flower logo that has not been played.

@@mogsaz That's interesting. My dad has a copy with the tower logo, and that's the same take as the CD. He also has a copy with the morning glory logo and that one is the same take as your video. My "tower" version has the same take as my dad's "tower" copy. I wish I had his and mine handy to look at the numbers in the deadwax to compare to yours. My dad bought his "tower" copy brand new in 1972 or 1973, so I'm assuming his is one of the very early pressings. The local Marantz dealer in town got a copy of Volume II sent to him by Marantz, who suggested using it as a demo disc, and that's how my dad heard it. He bought his "morning glory" copy sometime in the mid-'80s, so we always assumed it was a later pressing after the first stampers were used up.

@@mogsaz Could you look at your copy of this sometime and see what stampers were used? Between my dad and I we have 5 or 6 copies of this; SL3/SL4, SL3-2/SL4-8, SL3-3/SL4-9 and one other combo I can't remember. I've seen there's even a side 2 that's an SL4-10, but I haven't found a copy yet.
