Abdullah bin Hamid Ali is an associate professor of Islamic Law and Prophetic Tradition at Zaytuna College and the Founding Director of the Lamppost Education Initiative. At Zaytuna he heads the Honors Program and teaches multiple courses including Family Law, Inheritance Law, Commercial Law, Usul Al-Fiqh, and the Fundamentals of Sufism. He completed a BA (Ijazah ‘Ulya) in Shariah from the University of Al-Qarawiyyin in 2001, an MA in Ethics & Social Theory in 2012, and a Ph.D. in Cultural and Historical Studies in Religion in 2016, both from The Graduate Theological Union.
