@@quintonpillar By 2021 the most consumed vegetable in the US is Raid Shadow Legends. The sad part is most people don't even cook it to remove all the microtransactions.
@@quintonpillar lol doubt that he cares for that shitty game at all. a brother gotta do what ever to get the money so I dont blame him. He probably go a decent amount of cash for this AD
@@wm1573 Absolutely, but it's still hot garbage. Especially when he pretends that he has sudden interest in gaming - yeah, sure, and as if anyone would go for Rain out of all the things. I just skip these parts, but it still leaves a bad impression when someone tries to sell you trash.
Eh, the man's gotta make a living. That sponsorship probably paid his rent. We all know he probably doesn't play Raid, but at least he's not hawking brain pills or some shit.
there's a restaurant in houston that serves it's wedge salad with a feta cheese dressing instead of blue cheese dressing and it's hands down my favorite salad
I gotta say I've been watching since 30k subscribers. It's always amazing to see the progress and how far you've come Steve. Keep killing it with the videos.
Dude, your videos always come out when I'm working, but I love them all. Thanks for your passion and knowledge, I'm learning a lot. Much love from San Diego, California!
Absolutely loved this one! So simple. And I' realizing how much I'm missing iceberg lettuce ... I've been eating only leaf lettuce in my salads for years. Thanks.
I had a wedge salad for the first time pre-pandemic and I was blown away by how good it was and now I'm contemplating recreating that experience with this recipe.
I'll tell you, you are putting way more effort into making a wedge salad than any restaurant I've worked at. Your standard restaurant wedge salad takes almost no work to prep or build.
This is my first video of yours, and I dig it! I just ate a wedge salad at my uncle's sort of fancy Assisted Living Village. It was for the Father's Day BBQ and was served with a steak. I enjoyed the history of iceberg and the way you explain the cooking and technique.
I've been watching you for 2 years (yes I've binged and caught up lol) I don't comment much but I watch everything! You taught me how to #Really master Short Ribs. I love how much you put into your vids. And Steve.. you have the most perfect/gorgeous hands! If you're not hand modeling... umm WHY NOT? 😇🤣 xo
when i was a kid growing up in the bronx, my mom used to make this salad that was lettuce leaves wilted in hot... bacon grease? with either walnut or sunflower seed? or something to that nature. it was really good. oh, and the waldorf salad. could you do a video on that one? man, maybe start up a salad series! i really enjoy your videos. i made your weekday sauce for my family the other day and bro. it was so good, my wife asked ME for the recipe. let me tell you, man: it was so good, my PICKY ASS SON ate SECONDS. it was so good, by the time my wife and two small children ate their fill, there was NOTHING left of that pound of pasta for daddy. i have been binging your content for nearly a week now and i'm just so glad there's so much to go through. you are the man, sir. you sir, are the man.
Discovered this excellent cooking channel today and subbed (a rare honour - I don't give my subs out easy!) I'm English and discovered the wedge salad on a trip to New York around 25 years ago. Here in the UK, iceberg lettuce is looked down on as the cheap and cheerful, tasteless McDonalds garnish it's so frequently thrown away on. We Brits tend to favour posher leaves like romaine, little gem and rocket. But for me a salad base is more about texture than taste, so the much maligned iceberg lettuce (no flavour but unsurpassed for crunch) is my personal favourite, and the wedge salad is a dream. I found this video invaluable, and will now be attempting to make this novelty dish at home as a starter, side or light lunch. I was never sure how to prepare the lettuce itself and now feel foolish, as you showed it couldn't be simpler - it's just a quartered lettuce FFS (your coring technique is unsurpassed). Iceberg lettuce is the perfect foil for rich, strongly savoury flavours and textures, so a creamy dressing and fried bacon bits are perfect, as would be other robust accompaniments like anchovy, garlic and - oh, I'm not sure off the top of my head, but I'm sure as hell going to investigate now my iceberg passion's been reignited. Thanks for a great video!
Handy tip: freeze the bluecheese and use a microplane to even distribute the cheese in the dressing. Works like a charm. And please use fresh garlic instead of powder..
Actually, and this is totally serious (although I don't know if it's accurate), but I've heard that iceberg lettuce got its name because when heads of it were sticking out above the tops of the open panel trucks, they looked to pedestrians like icebergs. It sounds unlikely but I did hear that somewhere.
I cant believe I watched you make a Wedge Salad but I am so glad I did. You took my favorite salad and made it even better. I cant wait to make my own blue cheese dressing. Thank you Thank you Thank you
Pretty fascinating that iceberg lettuce has actually only been around for about a century. Not just a recipe, but a really interesting history overview. Great video - thanks!
I don’t know if you’ve ever tried the “Bibb & Blue” salad from Macaroni Grill, But I would LOVE to see your twist/version of it!... That is my all time favorite, But they went out of business last year and I haven’t been able to get it just right yet!.... P.S. I made your patty melts the other day and even the kids said it was the best they’ve ever had! A new fav in our house! This wedge salad will be next!
We also love some finely julienned carrots and a drizzle of balsamic glaze for sweetness. But a well-made blue cheese dressing is the absolute key. Great episode!
Note to everyone with a girlfriend: Bought my girlfriend your Hoodie. It's a good Hoodie, but don't give it out on international women's day as a present. Yep now I know, my fault, I didn't though that one through. She misunderstood the motto 'Hate less - cook more' quite a bit.
I don’t remove the core, cut into 1/4’s, put on a plate into the freezer to chill & firm up, then cut out the core and dress. I like 1000 island, toppings whatever you like. Good stuff 👍
I almost skipped ahead to the recipe but am so glad I didn't. I really enjoyed learning something about the origin story of iceberg lettuce. Maybe I should eat more of it.
Can you give any advice on audio tips for someone trying to start out on RU-vid cooking. Which mic do you use and do you do anything to it in edits? I'm using your masterclass as a basis but struggling with good audio! Thanks, Love your work, honestly the best going :)
I had for 3 years a part time job at McDonalds when I went to school and thats the reason why I developed a hate for Iceberg letturce 😂🤙🏼 But because of you I am still gonna try this, the recepies that you show us are always a banger 💥 Keep going
That LOOKS scrumptious (and I LOOOOOVE blue cheese! I am SO making that dressing!) but am I the only person who finds unwashed iceburg lettuce to have a bitter, metallic taste? I can always tell when iceburg or romaine lettuce have not been washed and I find it tastes like sucking nickels. I can even just smell it and tell. Just me?
Do you MAKE your own thousand island from scratch? ( Real thousand Island is made with sweet chili sauce, pickled beets , funky minced onion, funky chopped hard boiled eggs, and cornichands [those tiny tart, sweet, briny pickles] Mixed with mayo and a dash of worchestireshire sauce.) There is NO KETCHUP in REAL Thousand Island Dressing!
@@CatherineShoresHMN I don't know anything about it either. But it shows up EVERYWHERE. They're dumping a lot of money into advertising and it's obscene!
Bro. Please do pasta l'assassina! Pasta grammar did the recipe , but im a pasta novice and i need a more detailed description with maybe some tips n tricks. I tried to make it, but it wasnt that special. This being a simple dish, i bet the small details make the meal
Wedge salad gets a bad rep around where I am at because it comes off as lazy due to the toppings making it as good or inferior to a typical already well chopped salad. Especially with take out they just look so uninspired with no attempt at plating.
good recipe, but use a fresher head of lettuce. This is determined by white color or the stem you smash and pull. Yours was brown with indicates excessive oxidation . Not critical, but just a tip.
