Collective , collaborative are all great buzz words, ultimately it has to be one person leading. There is a reason there is GM. What is the objective of running a NFL team ? to win a SB, not dole out job titles and doing patch work. Forget Will Mclay for a second. Name one team Dak's had that was remotely close to what SF had last year, Phi had the year before, Brady had with TB, or Stafford had with LAR. 2 of those 4 teams won a SB and 2 of them didn't. It's hard to win one dude, especially when your front office does a third of its job in terms of roster building.

@@bdgrey To answer your question, none. I'm a Dak fan. I completely understand what you are saying. People won't care though. They will think his teams were talented enough and he was the reason they didn't get over the hump. Until he wins that will always be the case.

@@bdgrey Yeah. I've been told Rush can do what Dak does so I've heard it all. They think all they gotta do is draft a QB to replace Dak and use the money they didn't spend on Dak to improve the roster. It doesn't work that way. If Dak is gone this is a full rebuild.

Simple, either Jerry pays him what he wants. Or he leaves the cowboys and some other team will pay him what he wants. Dak has 100% of the leverage, not to mention if he has another great season (deep playoffs or not) he will get paid.

Because he can't be traded, he can't be tagged, and he can do whatever he wants as of right now. If he wants to hold out, he can. If he wants to play out the season, have another MVP caliber season, and move on, he will.

They move on from Dak and they're rebuilding.
