Note that Jon is standing in front of Ned's statue and last time they were together Ned said to him that next time they see each other, they will talk about Jon's mother. Very nice detail
@michaelwilson3806 I think he would've told Jon like he said. Ned is a man of honor and he was waiting for Jon to come of age. He deserves to know the truth of his lineage.
He was gonna tell him cause Jon would be a man of the watch, sworn out of any claims to lands. Jon would honor his vows as we know. Now if the rest of the plot happened with Ned alive , that is a different story
@@namyac88 GRRM said on interview that he told them the basic plot and they went on a different trajectory. Even if GRRM likes to kill characters his stories do follow the cathartic ending structure - look at Flycatcher or any of his other stories. He has said Maurice Druon's Iron King was his inspiration. In it the protagonist a scorned French nobleman brings about the Hundred Years war just so he can get his ancestral lands back from his aunt.... Ans he succeeds at a huge price. So here too Jon would succeed albeit at some price. He would have to kill his beloved - the final enemy just like tge precious Azor Ahai.
Nick fury comes in at the post credit and says your name is Jonhney Matilda Stark Junior I'm from 21st century and you are the true heir to the stark industries can you imagine our faces when that shit goes down at the end of GoT 🤣
Imagine what John was thinking when Sam told him, your mother is Lyanna Stark. For two seconds he was believing his mother is Lyanna Stark and his father is Ned Stark.
he lost a lot more then that his mother, father, sister, brother, grandparents, cousins, nada one cousin a scheming sansa and wierdo bran and gone arya thats only family he got
@@jet44444 she was happy with him by herside but knew if he told people it would put them at a crossroads-and what do you know, thats exactly what happened
This plot line would have tied everything together. But the "writers" of this show could think of anything that wasnt already on paper from george r.r. martin.
That’s because your dealing with a bunch of liberal idiots who have been rehashing old shows for years reboots my ass it’s basically them saying we can’t come up with anything remotely fresh
actually they rushed it because they almost got the deal to write some Star Wars saga, they kinda abandon it and messed it up on Season 8. it's a freaking shame. hope the new show "Snow" the sequel of GoT is not canceled, to give the proper ending to GoT TV stories. it's not confirmed nor denied that it's canceled, so we can hope.
Having read some of the prequel stories and the backstory history: many of the best kings were ones who never wanted to be king, never were planned to be king; circumstances and fate foisted it upon them
This also becomes so much BS when House of the Dragon revealed that Aegon saw the end of Westeros from his visions, that a Targaryen needs to be seated in the Iron Throne so they can defeat the Army of the dead. Then Arya Stark stabbed the night king from out of nowhere.
This gave me pure goosebumps and I wanted to see Jon snow on the iron throne. Instead we got the most unpopular weirdo in the whole show on it in bran stark. The whole show was unbelievable and built up so much just for it to be rushed and ruined in the last season. Still hurts 😭
Actually I always thought that Bran was a excellent alternative to Snow as the king. Because of his visions it really mad sense for him to be in a high powered position, so he could keep the realm safe from any oncoming dangers
One of my most hyped up moments was how Sansa and Arya was going to react when they heard this news. But then it happened offscreen... Talk about a real disappointment.
Such an emotional scene for me reminds me of Jon’s dreams when he was young dreaming about who is mother was “I can almost see her…a highborn lady….blue winter roses”
@@benmcmullen1296 the thing about Royal families is that they really like to reuse names. Its the same in real life. Look at monarchs like George the 6th or Henry the 8th. If jon had become king he would have been Aegon the 6th
@@Melissa-hd3jr no because they only get to add the number to their name if they take the throne and become king. there may be a hundred Aegons in his family tree but only 5 had been king. Jon would have been Aegon Targaryen 6th of his name, if he took the throne.
Sam : your mother was lyna stark. Jon (thinking ) : oh f! incest , Ned my father and his sister my mother 😶 Sam : and Rhager was your father. Jon : oh thank god
This was supposed to be the greatest reveal of all time. The Targaryen Prince, who will bring the light.. the one who will defend the world from the Army of Dead. the Prophecy from the lord of the light..The prince who was promised.. Aegon Targaryen VI.but yeah… it leads to nothing.
I'm not upset about Jon not wanting the Iron Throne. I think that's perfectly in step with his character. What I _do_ have a problem with is the fact that not a single character looked him in the eye and said something like this: "You don't want it? Good. Westeros is full of people who want the throne. These seven kingdoms have been torn apart by people who want that fucking throne. It's also too damn bad, because we _need_ you, Jon. People look to you. People follow you, people trust you. You bring people together, like it or not. At the end of this bloodbath, there'll have to be someone standing to lead Westeros into a new day, and for what it's worth, I choose you. I think most people would." Jon would've been an amazing King. If he and Danaerys could've ruled together, Westeros could've thrived. But, that's just a pipe dream.
Or him and Dany could of been the ones to break the wheel by ending the monarchy and ushering in democracy. They always mentioned breaking the wheel, but they didn’t actually do it.
At first, I couldn’t understand why everybody was so obsessed over John Snow,(I had only just watched Game of Thrones for the first time at the end of last year) then he grew on me. Now I’m looking forward to his show
It hurts seeing scenes like these and from the first few seasons because we know how it all ends and it's agonizing. The writers ruined the entire show for us, not just the ending.
But he was the prince who was promised and that's why needed to bring back to life . But after the last season its make no sense . Even if Jon don't want to rule . He needs to understand that a lot of people had made sacrifices for him and for what because they know that he would be the ultimate king of the 7 kingdoms . But we got nothing. I hope something similar would happen in the upcoming series , Fingers 🤞 cross .
What a great plot it was they could have easily made 2 or 3 seasons more on it so sar that it was wasted for nothing the protector of the realm is now the watcher of the wall...
Watcher of wall but since the white walkers are dead and the wildlings are no longer a threat their job is basically useless 🗿💀 fck s8 should have atleast had Jon snow vs night king
Sickens me that this man was Chosen by fate and by the Gods and STILL never got his flaming sword with a dragon moment! He was a Targareyan chosen by the god of fucking flames for crying out loud ! Which i am !
Lol actually the easter eggs and build up is coming strong to that point.. Where Jon Supposed to Ride Rhagon.. The Dragon named after his father. The Red Priest who supposed to light his sword on fire. While his direwolves are backing him up.. vs The Ice Dragon of Night king. Man.. what an Epic scene supposed to be.
I was soooo absolutely sure that all the ringmarole around Jon meant something epic. He was a bastard, then lord commander. The lord of Light saw fit to return him to life, he was King in the North, he's a Targaryen....all that build up...all my anticipation....Bran "why do you think I came all this way?" I was so pissed. Never been angry at my TV like that it's lucky I didn't put my foot through it. I wasn't gonna watch house of the dragon but I was convinced. Did some research on it, George RR Martin is in the loop on this one. It better not blow it.
Yeahh.. this plot line makes so much sense.. since HOTD episode 1 revealed that Aegon’s Vision a Targaryen is the one that will defend Westeros from the Army of dead. That’s supposed to be Jon Snow.. not Bran.
They built him up so good, making him look so good, we wer convinced that he will be king, then they said he was the son of Rhaegar which excited us even more and it lead to nothing. 😢
Of course he dont want it , jon is not an asshole , he accepted daenerys as his queen and he never showed any interest in ruling ( if sam didnt propose his name he wouldnt even have been lord commander)
My alternative ending - Danerys after listening this, will go mad as she wants the iron Throne for herself. Her madness will led to kill Jon by her dragon in front of council, as the flame hits Jon and he'll not die . He realise that Daenerys was just like Aerys the mad king. And wll the council will be astonished, as they realise Jon Snow true identity as AEGON TARGARYEN.
I always felt like John was super selfish after he knew who he was a denied the people a VERY good king. John was about loyalty and duty and most of all loved his friends and his family….. he knew what hard work was, also literally got killed for what he believed in…. That’s a good king right there. selfish John snow! 😖*pout*
It’s funny how they mention he and Arya take after the Starks. Very horse faced. Don’t see very much Targaryen in him. But the dragons know & they love him 💋
@@erinlee5936 oh okay, I knew about that…I think “Ollie” was the last person to stab John and say “This is for the nights watch!!” …I have the 4 big books…I bought them because I was told “ there’s much more info in the books!!” …that was a few years ago….thanks for responding
So excited for the jon sno sequel series, hopefully house of the dragon does well because if it does then jon sno will get his own series. And lastly i hope he in the end gets to be the ruler of the seven kingdoms , he deserves it more then anyone else.
This damn show was so close to becoming something of a perfection...They were so close to making it the best show in the history of TV.And they made it the biggrdt flop of TV instead..It was alomost perfect for 90% ...i cant belive that the producers were "yes this is a good ending" ..i mean wtf...Him or Daenerys or both of them should have been the king and the queen..They had it and they blew it..Really incredible f up of a century..
Sam: Your mother was Lynna Stark. Jon: (Thinking) Damn you Ned Sam: Your father, your real father was Rhaeger Targaryan. Jon: (Thinking) Lord Eddard Stark was a honourable man
It still boils my blood when I think what they did with this show...... all that story developement, characters, plotline...... all f***ing down the f***ing toilet.
Ahh the good ol' days, when there was still some hope left for S8. Before D&D shoved a valyrian steel dagger into our hearts as well as the Night King's, the show itself, and their own careers. The Night King's death is the moment all hope died for me. I'll never forget how I felt when that happened. I still feel that same bitter disappointment to this day thinking about what could have been.
I love how the last time he sees ned he says next time we see each other I'll tell you about your mother. And this scene starts off with him standing in front of the statue at his grave.
He was Aegon Targaryen the true heir to the iron throne. He was also Azhor Ahai. Then writers along with Bryan thought hey let's send him to the north again.
They could have cemented their legacy as some of the greatest show runners to make a show. But instead they rushed the last two season to work on a cancelled Star Wars project, and make one season of the watchmen show nobody watched. I’m never watching another show by them again
How is/was no one talking about Kit Harrington’s acting here? He acts/shows amusement through a huff directed at Sam saying his mother was Lyanna Stark (you can also see a bit of disappointment as well) before quickly turning to horror and numbness at Sam’s next words revealing his birth father’s name. It changes once again to conflict and disbelief.
