LOL! Episode 3 is the WORST episode of the entire series. Terrible pacing, and that makes it really slow. It had very little to do, and everyone should have shown more emotion than they did. The humor is also mostly gone. Worst episode so far, and episode 4 is much better!

Episode 3 was pure genius. Episode 4 was all we could have wanted a follow up to be. When Ken looked at the document on his phone, it looked more crossed out than underlined to me. Everyone saw what they wanted to see.

@lavendermatt

Someone said on reddit, and I agree, that it doesn't really matter if the writers wanted that to act as a theme or not. But what's good about art is its subjective and everyone will have their own interpretations. However, that scene is just brilliant, regardless of coincidence or not. Ken will forever be in this dilemma. Whether "he really liked me" or not. whether it was underlined, Logan really wanted him to take over, or it was crossed, Logan initially wanted it to happen, but later thought it was a bad idea. As Frank said when Ken asked if Logan wanted this, "Sometimes he wanted you to take over", and whether Kendall uses that to his advantage or not is up to him.

When Connor said “ I never got the chance to make him proud of me.” I burst into tears. As a son with a successful father I felt that on a tremendous level. I think the mastery in how they did this episode is that we didn’t see him go or even begin to. It was sudden and no one actually saw anything. We rarely see people in their final moments if it’s sudden. Logan didn’t die, we lost him. That’s how the show made us feel imo.

As great as episode 3 was, episode 4 represented everything we have been waiting for all those years. Internal infighting with the siblings; Power moves by a ruthless Marcia; The senior executives scurrying to vie for the main position, stabbing one another with a pinched smile; PR people already at work, without batting an eye, utterly unaffected It was divine, plot-wise! And the apartment was so much brighter and alive than all the episodes where Logan has been in it. I love that set design and stage lighting choice!

Season 4 Episode 3 was my first introduction to this amazing show. If you watch S4e3 in a vacuum, not knowing anything about the show (only the premise), its a 10/10 perfection of an episode. The reason why its because it literally forces you to psychoanalyze everybody. Not only because of how they film the show, trying you to see and focus on every little detail of the characters reactions, but also because of the suspense of what happened. I literally thought it was one of the sons that killed Logan. The way Kieran Culkin acted throughout that episode made me think he was hiding something nepherious. My best theory was that Tom and Roman had successfully plotted to kill Logan and succeeded in doing it, but I ended realizing I was wrong when I caught up with all the seasons. And turns out I was wrong, Tom and Arnold were secretly discussing on talking to Gerri, to fire her. And Roman was just nervous about it, because he likes Gerri.

I guess all those popular video essayists with oodles of subscribers are just being silly by giving specific explicit spoiler warnings (or at least mentioning an episode number in the fucking title or intro) before they hit a big spoiler within the first 30 seconds Best to just hope everyone is on the same page as you about not accidentally interacting with your content for even 30 seconds unless they're fully caught up on a given show just in case your video is about any episode they haven't seen. (Lord knows fair warnings, while extremely common, are bad policy) And when ep 4, 5 etc come out they'll have to avoid this video too if they haven't seen it, just in case it's about those as well but hey that's just good youtubing! Conner was not really disregarded. He had nothing in common with his family. He is kinda weird and lives in a fantasy world. I would say that he didnt really try to be his father son. Yet, he was in the fold. He lives EXTREMELY WELL and had the nerve to complain. He never even liked him.... LOgan did like him. He just didnt respect him. And, honestly. What did Conner ever do to earn respect? This shows leaves me questioning so many things. Like, in this day an age of Gen Z, gender bending, constant outrage - how many parents today, can actually say that they love and respect their children??? Its a tough question. But I do think it reflects todays world. Logan grew up poor. He created a KINGDOM. Ken wants to be King, by stealing it. Can a warrior respect a thief? Have they ever? I dont see Logan as EVIL. As so many do. I see him as a man of his time. Flawed, Carnivore, Sharp Mind and Ruthless. And I see Kendal as a man of his time. Entitled, Soft, know it all, Participation Trophy Winner, Don Jr-ish, Drug Addict who just happened to be born with the right skin and last name. Ken thinks he is Logan 2.0. When he is really Walmart Brand Cola. A product of a successful corporation. And he is NOT A KILLER. He is a reactionary, emotional, petty brat. Going behind his sibs backs and destroying his fathers name OUT OF SPITE. Logan didnt make company decisions out of emotions. And I think Shiv is going to expose him. The only person Ken ever killed was that nice Kid in England.

I think in a way they were cursed by their own writing, because the build-up with all of the nuance and structure of the preceding seasons and episodes really left them no way to end the show in a manner that was both satisfying and congruent. Seems like they painted themselves into a corner and they had to pick one or the other: either swing in a conclusive ending, which stands in stark contrast to everything that has come before OR continue with the tone and tenor of the show, and don't break with the narrative at all, but leave the audience feeling Hollow precisely because the overriding melody of the show is insecurity, instability, and chaos. Maybe a truly virtuosic writer would have found some magical way to blend these two, and in that sense maybe you're right that the writers just didn't have it.
