He is a true pioneer among late night hosts when it comes to embracing new technology. Even in Conan show, things like Conan without borders, clueless gamer, remotes, podcast etc. are stuff that no other host could possibly come up with. Super excited to see what he'll bring to HBO Max.
@@nandhanakrishnanr4990 Same. Never expected to see another malayali conan fan😅❤️
@@pennavedc Didn't he went to Scotland with some celebrities for a week show? It was amazing. I really wanted to know more about him. I have even read his book. Many dark personal stories. I loved it. Conan should also write a book. I would definitely read it.
I was in high school & college in the mid to late 90s when Conan's late night show was on TV...he was already the "guy" of our generation. ;) Awesome to see he's catching on with the younger ones. There will never be another Conan
If you're talking about american late night hosts you may be right. Jimmy fallon is an all round likable guy and seems like a lovely person but isn't a great host, james corden and kimmel both suck and colbert has good days but overall I absoutely agree. In terms of british though, I think that Graham Norton might just be the best modern talk show host.
When the woman made the ‘technical’ mistake of saying “kicked off” notice how Conan didn’t get offended (like some other comedian did *cough* seinfeld *cough*) but corrected her by actually using jokes.
@@masonlund8715 theres a famous older Larry King interview with Jerry where Larry says "So when your show got cancelled-" then Jerry cuts him off and goes on a tangent about how he had the most famous show on television for 9 straight years and got the highest ratings and that nobody could cancel him, it could only end because he wanted it to. He gets a ton of shit for that interview but I never thought he was being too aggressive towards King, he had a jokey tone the entire tangent but it still came off as very boasty and selfish
@@masonlund8715 theres also many other cases of Seinfeld being selfish, like in his comedians in cars with Bob Einstein (rip) he legit says to him "the difference between you and me is that we both worked very hard but I made A LOOOT of money, and you barely made anything" that was definitely the most selfish clip Ive seen of him.
@@DaveMyDude Larry actually seemed to know full well that the show was never cancelled, but he phrased it a bit like a question ("You gave it up, right? They didn't cancel you."). Jerry seemed to take it the wrong way, apparently not recognizing that Larry was just presenting/framing the information for the audience. But it's hard to tell to what extent Jerry was just joking around. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RVTP8xZCGVw.html&ab_channel=Seinfeld4
Conans intellect never ceases to completely amaze me. Any little thing I've ever watched this man do or say has only made me love him more and more. I used to know a lot of people who categorized him with fallon and kimmel saying hes fake like all talkshow hosts and I knew they hadnt actually seen any of his work because the second you start to know who he is its impossible not to adore him. It makes me happy knowing that more and more people have been giving him the praise he deserves and recognizing how good of a man he is ever since his show ended. I hope his HBO series introduces him to a lot more of those unfortunate souls who dont know him. Conan will always be a massive inspiration and I think just about anyone could learn a lot from his words
It's never stressed enough how he at least initially paid for the tour he was talking about in the clip out of his own pocket. And I read somewhere he did that tour because he didn't want his staff to be out of work.
Hola from India. Muchos Gustó. I love that we all love Conan's humour even though we are from different countries. Looking forward for more Conan without borders. It's one of the way I can study about beauty and culture of different countries. 🥰
Bottom line is that love saved him and his career. Not big networks and bosses and big money. Just love. Pure love from his fans. Makes you wonder what else our love can do in the world.
Been a Conanite from his early Nerdy Days right out of Harvard....and knew then what I know now, he is a Rare Breed of Moxy, honesty, and quick wit! Shows in his professional AND personal life. We ALL are lucky to be sharing the air with this Legend! Great clip Nandhana Cheers From Ohio
Conan's strength has always been who he is and who he has chosen to surround himself with. The reason the strike shows were so amazing is because Conan has always been enough to carry any show. And its why his podcast works and all the remotes.
@@itsonlysound I'm convinced most of Conan's fans aren't people who watch many other chat shows, if they watch any at all. It's not the opinions of celebs that we're interested in, it's Conan himself. I would comfortably do away with the celebs if it wasn't for the fact that Conan loves it so much, and the good thing about his podcast is that _he chooses the guests._ That's a crucial distinction between the podcast and the talk shows he's hosted. W the podcast, he never has to interview some vacuous nobody who's only there to promote their latest awful movie.
Its interesting to note that the last hold out of that old-school, Carson/Letterman Late Night mentality was the first one to embrace change. People talk about how Conan is super smart, witty, and funny (which he is) and having a big heart (which he does), but very few pick-up how forward thinking Conan can be. He knew that the Late Night talkshow format was becoming obsolete, but he loved the format, and made active steps to propel it to its next evolution and keep its significance in the future.
Thanks for your wonderful channel Nandana. I hope you get featured in Conan O'Brien needs a fan. I absolutely love to see these old videos. Waiting for his next adventure...
Conan is the best .... I remember Very First i saw was episode about his staff employees/remotes Who in the world is Natural as Conan and shows the Backstage and let the Employees too get some attention _BTW CONAN's Team is insanely Talented_ hats off to the Team too. May the Universe bless him.
You know a big part of that was Aaron Bleyhaert. He was making the little clips and videos and posting them online when it was first starting. Suddenly when the TV part was gone, was he has started was all that was left. You never know was ventures may yield great opportunities!
He was literally at the top of his game and has the dream gig and his employers displayed a profound lack of tact and integrity and put him in a ridiculously tough spot. Navigating that with class and transcending the gig in a way the embedded him as a relatable media figure is why he still has a career. And he’s very funny.
And now he’s 100% digital, having totally left television behind. Not because it’s what he wanted, it’s what his most loyal fans wanted. Conan was in the South Park movie. That movie came out in between like the 3rd and 4th seasons of South Park. He’s been catering to his younger fans his entire career.
Does Jay Leno realize he'll be maligned and far less liked throughout history compared to Conan? I wonder if tears stream down his overly large chin and fall into his lap, just like his career fell into the lap of a mediocre talent.
But true comedic talent doesn’t always matter that much, that’s the reality. Fallon and Cordon are not far from being competent comedians, but they’re good enough entertainers to a lot of people and deliver what their tv network wants. If you look further, there are a good amount of tv shows around the world that we assume no one wanna watch, actually do very well.
I think the network puts pressure on them which prevent them from completely being themselves and being less funny. But if you look at the behind the scenes of most talk shows, the hosts are more funny being themselves. Best example is Conan. He is funnier when he is himself. Same thing with lot of hosts. See how NBC tried to pressure Conan. But he is a genius. He didn't let the network get inside his head and tried to be himself. I think most hosts lack this courage and bravery as Conan and hence he is my favourite. It's all my opinion. No need to argue with me.
Conans stand he took with the tonight show made him the peoples champion. Sticking it to the man, the boss, whatever, and saying screw you. Then the people rallied behind him. You watch the tonight show for the guests, you watch conan for conan. Doesn't matter the guests
I think Conan should give a bit more credit to himself. At the end of it all, twitter, TBS, podcasting, and everything else...none of it would have really saved him if people weren't showing up wanting to be there for him. He, Conan, the guy, just fundamentally is such a lovable, inspiring dude, a true, rare man of the people. I think that's why so many of us keep showing up after all there years, giving him support. His integrity and commitment to himself and his fans can not ever be overlooked, so that is I think the most critical element in all of this that has kept his career alive over such a huge stetch of time.
I wasn't even clear on exactly what happened - thinking back I just thought that it was Jay Leno being put back in place by NBC. I didn't think it was such a mess over not wanting to move to 12:05am.
Was more than that, contractually Conan was suppose to take over the Tonight Show around 2010, Leno retire, and if NBC didn't give it to him then Conan's show was owed millions. NBC made this deal to keep him from going to another network. Leno wasn't ready to go, Conan's style just didn't mesh also, NBC tried to keep both Leno and Conan but eventually Conan's team got 50 million to walk away.
Conan's entire issue on was over the time the show aired, and the importance of being what people see right after the news was integral to what being the tonight show meant. Officially nothing else was changing. Some would argue guests and their publicists would have another potentially more influential show option to choose which could hinder Conan's show, but that's the same situation his subsequent show faced.
Leno screwed both Conan and Letterman from the prestige of The Tonight Show, the legacy that Carson fine tuned, but in the end, Dave still did his version of what The Tonight Show would've been anyway, and Conan only got stronger with his presence, especially since starting his digital media empire.
conan always asks slightly wrong questions. it's how you coax the person to give more than just a yes or no answer. she's a perfectly fine interviewer.
Ever since Carson retired, The Tonight Show hasn't been a career crowning glory for any host with a distinct creative sense. Instead it's been a creative dead weight held down by its audience's lowest common denominator expectations and NBC's market share obsession. As painful as it was at the time, not getting the show was the best thing that happened to Letterman and Conan. Both were free to create their individual artistic legacies as opposed to Leno and Fallon who were more than happy to keep serving up more of the same mush to audiences that hate challenges to their simple comedy sensibilities.
Think about all the goodwill Leno sacrificed. And for what? Not even five more years of telling jokes on the same stage he always had. Meanwhile Conan has reinvented himself two or three times since then.
If any other people call themselves the King or Queen of Social Media, This Bostonian Irish Legend Started the whole viral shits. He owns the freaking concepts. He is the *Origin of Social Media King*
Jay was #1. Conan's contract was expiring and would only stay with nbc if he could have Jay's job. Why didn't Coco just go to another network and compete head to head with Jay? Craig Ferguson was beating Coco some. Full disclosure, I watched. Conan, not the others
Conan was going to leave NBC, but NBC told him they would give him the Tonight Show if he stayed on longer. Conan stayed on longer, they gave him the Tonight Show, and then the conflict happened.
@@iVan123 *He paid his staff $45 million? What a complete idiot you are. Do yourself a favour, and stop being a pathetic grovelling celebrity serf. Have some dignity.*
@@MattSingh145 million is a lot money and is a huge amount for just keeping his staff. I just think its nice that he took care of his staff and they stuck with him through the 3 shows
People still want Conan to rehash the Leno Tonight Show thing and he is like "seriously, again?!?!?!". Fact was, Conan wasn't pulling in the ratings NBC wanted so they tried to get someone in their that had a proven track record of higher ratings. Conan, like Letterman, was more a niche late show host. Carson and Leno could appeal to everyone. Conan and Letterman appealed to a smalelr audience, as evidenced in their ratings. Not saying NBC didn't do anything wrong, but at the end of the day, it wasn't personal, it was business.
