I was born in 1960 and there were only 4 shows that would clear the kids from outside to inside in about 30 seconds when parents yelled that they were on: Batman; Green Hornet; Lost In Space; and The Monkees. It does my heart good to see these guys still playing. Rock on!
Do you remember a network superhero show from 1966 called "Captain Nice"? It was only on for one season. I don't remember what network "Batman" was on, but "Captain Nice" was another network's response to Batman. Captain Nice lived with his mother and instead of flying with his arms straight out like Superman, he flew like a bird flapping his arms.
This brought back so many wonderful memories! I was fortunate enough to see the Monkees in Denver during their very first tour in 1966 (5th row seats, and I actually got.a gorgeous smile and a wave from my crush, Peter!), and again in Denver in 1967 (8th row seats on Mike's end of the stage that time). They were on stage for 90 minutes, which was unheard of back in the 60s, and it was of the best concerts I ever saw!
It was so great to watch the remaining members pay tribute to Davey. I grew up watching the Monkees ,thank you for sharing this . R.I.P Davey you will be truly missed.
1:43:12 Such a rare yet fun cool moment of genuine comradery between Mike and Peter.. Even if they didn't get along much or really liked one another... You can obviously tell they still loved each other like brothers.
Mike Nesmith sounds great ! He has a really nice voice! They all do! Very happy to see them still playing and performing!I miss Davy but it's still great seeing the rest of the Monkees and hearing my favorite songs being sung by them live!!! I love when Peter plays the banjo! I'll bet Mike would look good in a hat like Mickey has on!
One of the original bubblegum bands and good songwriters just think they were a band that was never intended to be they were just some parody of The Beatles and they became like the Beatles really neat

Wow ,brilliant,great to see them do 'The Girl I Knew Somewhere',one of Nesmiths best,plus 'What Am I Doing Hanging Round','Listen To The Band' and 'As We Go Along' ,the best song by far off 'Head'.Wish they would do 'Don't Call On Me',still,beats The Rolling Stones hands down

Truly Beloved You literally put me in the audience .if you think about it , in the Cinema vereté style of the original series this was dead on and Davy is smiling down from Rock Roll Heaven! Superb! Let's see if powers to be will modern technology compile a definitive Monkees Anthology I e. Beatles and come out with outtakes & perhaps an A I. Reunion of sorts ? Long Live & God Bless The Monkees!
Fantastic! Davy will always be with them in spirit. I saw them in Charlotte, NC, 35th Anniversary and Mickey said it would be their last. Thank God! It's not!
Found me when Micky drops the mic to try to get someone to sing part of Goin' Down because I know everyone on my right refused to do it and so did I. If it was a few years ago I'd have done it just fine so drats for recall now. :)

I saw this concert 2 days before this concert in Clearwater Florida. thanks so much for recording this and putting this on RU-vid. I contacted the monkees promo guy and asked if this was coming out on dvd and her said NO! their was no video crew on stage.
7/28/13 REH was awesome. Was at both and also St. Augustine but glad to find this as I was front row in Denver where Micky can't get the woman next to me on right to sing in Goin' Down. I can't anymore either but used to all the time. lol First show I saw where we all freaked and he didn't get someone to do it. :)
Friday, July 5, 2019--9:58 am CST Mike Nesmith probably decided to tour with Micky and Peter because of the death of Davy Jones on 2/29/2012. Then seven years later Peter Tork passed away on 2/21/2019. Davy Jones: 12/30/1945--2/29/2012 at the age of 66. Peter Tork: 2/13/1942--2/21/2019 at the age of 77. Terry Marvin (Dallas, Texas,USA)
I agree. There wasn't any love lost between those two. Davy was livid when Michael canceled on the U.S. leg of the concert following the Justus tour in the UK. He didn't hide his thoughts and tore him down in the press a lot. I think Michael was probably afraid to tour with him again. They were all mad at each other at various times, but they were as bound to each other as blood relatives. So sorry only Micky is left. What a burden to carry on their legacy at his age. I think he feels he has to. Personally, I couldn't do it. I'd have to be on antidepressants so I wouldn't cry my eyes out.
I was front row in front of Michael. So close it was hard to take any photos or want to stick camera in their faces even with flash off. When Micky drops the mic for Goin' Down bit I'm sitting on left side next to the girl who refused to sing or didn't know it. I thought about it as he hunted for another person quick sec! LOL
Great video. I have the tv show series on DVD. All the Rino albums . Because the old Colgems albums are shot. Great video. It's sad that Peter and Davey are gone. At least Mike and Mickey ate still keeping the band going 👍👍👍👍
+Penny I It was a completely different trip when Davy was there. He insisted on it. Mike & Davy were born on the same day, with the same type of leadership "must". It's unfortunate, but a huge part of the truth.
Davy was the heart and soul of the group. Also, the energy.The one who wasn't ashamed to have been a Monkee, and would always make himself available to go on all the tours with them. Last night, I watched the Manchester Justus Tour in 1996 on TY and what a treat that was. It was electric!
I saw them at the Fox theater on 5-29, afew days ago. This show is very simular. I love Michaels version of "sweet young thing." But they didn't do "daily nightly."I too and going to convert this to MP3.
We are lucky that we even get to see them online and still rocking... They ou tsold the Beatles and Elvis combined by1969..Can you do that? Stop with the critisism. They had some great songs And I will alwars be a fan RIP Davey . And yes they can play their own instuments.
It's funny seeing comments like this about the figures with the Beatles and the rolling Stones, now the story about this came about through and interview with Nesmith he told the interviewer before they began he would lie but he wouldn't know about what or when so eventually he said that they outsold the Beatles and the rolling Stones and the rest is history. If you don't believe me there's some interviews with him telling the story and he talks about it in his book infinite teusday

It was sad Davey was gone, but what a blast to hear all those Nesmith tunes! A much better show with Mike than with Davey. The band they assembled did a great job...I loved the show
Did it have to be EITHER Davy or Mike? To me, all the energy left when Davy passed away. This was nice, kinda like those reunion concerts all the old groups do now, but nothing out of the ordinary. BTW, It's DAVY and not DAVEY.
***** That's not good. Now I think I know what Ringo meant when he said "Paul thinks he's the last living Beatle." Paul should reunite Wings. I really enjoyed them in the 70s as a teen. He probably wouldn't do it because it would remind him of Linda. Even though her real singing was terrible. Did you ever hear that tape of Wings doing "Hey Jude"? They removed everything from the tape but Linda's voice and it sounded like a bad "American Idol" audition.
I love the Monkees, am a huge fan. But I gotta say, the 3 guys, and the backing band, too, look very.. tired, bored, energy-less. Maybe it's cuz I watched a '97 concert last night. The energy, by comparison, was leaps and bounds higher. I realize they are getting older, as are we all, just sayin. Surprised the backing band didn't smile or try harder either..
Yet, I saw Nez break down crying in an interview when they asked about Peter's death so maybe he had time to rethink his feelings toward Peter. I know Peter hardly spoke to him or about him for awhile. I guess there's no way of knowing his feelings for Nez before he passed. Both such great musicians, songwriters, etc. Such a shame and waste of time. RIP Peter & Mike. Davy, too. You gave us your all. Respect. ❤
I agree with that. Davy was the only Monkee who wasn't already a musician when they signed on in 1965. He hated the idea of singing in a band, but he really got into it once the band started playing together. When the other members would disagree about who should sing lead in a song, it always got passed to Davy to keep the peace. Even though I've never been a huge Monkees fan, their history is interesting to me.
@@mommy2kitty I read several accounts that mentioned Davy was impossible after they lost the show. He made several bad investments and was wary of everyone. At one point, he and Micky didn't speak for nine years! And Micky definitely seems the most easygoing (not thinking about his manic behavior). I also read he and Peter got into it once and both ended up in the Emergency Room. There was a lot of fighting, but I believe they all loved each other like families that fight all the time but would kill for each other. Theirs is an amazing story.
