The problem is not Johnny Cage. The problem is the rest of the cast. Buff everybody ridiculously to his level and you've got yourself a fun Midway/MK9 type of game.

Keeping some legacy and building upon it instead of restarting every game would eliminate so many issues😪

I don't think there's anything wrong with Johnny having good mids and buttons in your face. The issue is, many other characters don't have anything going for them, so they end up playing the same kind of game as Johnny but with worse buttons. What has sub got and Scorp got? If you're just going to end up strike throwing, then why not pick Johnny.

I don't know why everyone bags on MK11. I had way more fun in MK11 than MK1. I'm done with MK1 after like 3 games, I could go on MK11 for hours.

The turn stealing meta has ruined MK. Its atrocious. On top of that, NRS's constant fumbling and lack of care is icing on the cake.

To be fair nrs can't make cage weak since they took away is fireballs

It actually gets boring seeing the same characters over and over again. And that's pretty much acrossed every fighting game. Which I think lowers viewership. At least for me it does. That's why I tune in and tune out

i noticed the archetype gap right away coming from mkx Predato had three different ways to play him based off the variations Hunter - was a trap character HQT - was a zoner and pressure based Warrior - was offensive and had the best armor move

I honestly don't understand why sub's mid was made slower than his beta. Looking back at the beta now,his nerfs were unjustified especially when you see the bullshits ashrah and kenshi can do

The problem with johny cage is his movement. A character like him should be able to be out zoned our outspaced but his neutral is too good bc of his movement.

Not to mention Johnny cage is the only character that has a super saiyan form. And he can’t be cornered cause he can’t teleport through you into a full combo punish. I’m a liu kang main just so you know.

Cage doesn't need a kameo to do what he wants to do, he just does it. Cage is playing his own game.

To me, Tom Brady looks like Johnny Cage.

This is what happens when your game GARBAGE ASS defensive mechanics. The offensive characters can run all over you. Doesnt matter if you use Mavado counter, it takes 2 bars and spends the entire kameo meter. By the time it recovers Johnny will have the edge for the rest of the round/match

Another testament that MK1 was intended to be Injustice 3, because Johnny Cage is the only character that has that stupid hype mechanic and that MK9 moveset style, damn he is so strong even nerfed.

Funnily enough, the cyrax change brought me back to the game since i never got to try the cage/cyrax team. I played cage/stryker and raiden/sektor but since various nerfs i lost interest months ago

I think the kameos should've been assigned to characters from the start. (provided there were enough at launch to support the entire roster) This way, they would've been designed with synergy in mind with whom they're teamed with.

I’m working on my first TTRPG (so, not a video game) and the trap of nerfing something that doesn’t work is sooooo easy to fall into. All it did was create this very situation with Johnny, where one strategy evolved into domination, and everything else sucked. It was death by a thousand little thoughtless concessions.

Fun fact. Nrs has nerfed the same style of 9 Frame mid johnny has in every game made by nrs.

Johnny has always been the best, but I think Peace Maker is slowly taking that spot. They both don't have any obvious weaknesses, but Peace Makers zoning is arguably the best in the game. I would bet he's going to be the character pick that wins Final Kombat.

What if they gave sub zero a special move that you input right after inputting clone that bursts the clone like mkx and its double hitting so it breaks armor. The input would be the same as clone but you just do it after clone. And it’s safe on block

NRS making a game where you want to annoy your opponent with block pressure until they get bored and open up, putting Johnny Cage, the block pressure demon in the game, really lacks any forsight (especially a year into the game). Now significantly nerf every other character archetype and you have MK1 disagree that there are no archetypes but they are definitely former shell of what they once were

The real monster is the playstyle crafted by unsafe special move into kameo effective literally into Pro Kompetition. Idk Ive seen too many pro players have trouble with average players in MK1 because of these tactics. Compared to a game like MKX or MK11 where Im certain it would be a wash in the pros favor

I've always liked Johnny Cage. Never my favorite, but always liked him. MK2 he was really fun. I absolutely hate him in MK1. Everything about him.

Mortal Kombat has another big problem of Dash , proa can abuse and alway be at your face where casual Players struggling to do so where majority of players are casual. Faster mid should be delying dash input but , NRS wont do it otherwise how come sonic and Ninja killa would be in finals.

I never hear anyone or read anyone mentioning his back dash. He can poke on block and back dash and almost no characters in the game can stop this degenerate gameplay loop looking for a whiff.

This game is torture to play especially in Kombat league where they barely give you any points in Demi-god & higher ranks. All I face is Johnny,Kenshi,Asharah, why do they have such great buttons & don’t need a cameo but me as a scorpion main I have to PRAY & make reads to get a hit in? This game feels so clunky & I swear the cameos be bailing so many 🚮 players out. MK11 was WAY Better none of this gimmick bs & the life span of the game lasted way longer this games BEEN Dead Don’t hit me with “lab it” I’m not labbin’ sh* in this bum game. The only point I disagree with is Johnny being the only character who can use every kameo. Liu can too, he essentially plays Johnny’s game albeit a little worse but with some zoning

MK11 > MKx > MK1

They need to open the game up with more fast mids i mean not every mid has 2 be 9 frames or have insane pressure but against alot of character neutral duck and mashing d1 completely invalidates their gameplan like raiden and Johny have fast mids with good pressure i play reptile his mid is slower and has worse stagger potential and is really stubby and is really minus now i know your thinking reptile has a mid projectile that combos but that move is ass in neutral it looses to every other projectile in the game

Personally I think Ermac is the biggest BS character in the game. Definitely a pay to win character.

I woudlnt say no archetypes but thy are less pronounced. Johnny, Raiden and Kenshi are all pressure but they do it differently. Quan Chi and Kitana are probably the only dedicated zoners and they do it differently. No one plays like Nitara she just sucks. Everyone else though idk. I feel like they could have archetypes but like you said they probably arent going to try and add them in.

This game is just horribly made to be honest. I try to have fun with this game but i just cant. You got button delay like a mf bc just yesterday alone i got screwed like 3-4 times out of a match bc of literal button delays. Then you have people picking homelander just to spam overhead moves in the corner, johnny players get to do whatever they want, sindel players doing the same rinse and repeat overhead/low bs and not to mention kenshi which is essentially playing against two kameos and one character which is a major balance problem. How can one character have something like this but the rest of the roster be garbage?They shouldn't have half assed these characters just so that they can depend on a stupid kameo attack to be safe. They really need to consider buffing every character except for sindel, kenshi, johnny, lui kang, and all dlc characters not including quan chi bc this getting ridiculous

Not having Arctype is just dumb... and proves NRS doesnt know to balance one great exemple is JP from Street FIgther he is the Perfect Zoner he can combo almost full scream he have high , Low and Overhead projectile even a Projectile that Grab but his defence is kind trash , but insteant of nerf his projectile Capcom just nerf some of his normal that was stoping the people to jump of him making a but weak against caracter try to get close to him while still strong in the mid and far scream ... Each Archtype is a annoying but also have their weaking against others

The top three BS characters are number one Baraka, Raiden, Johnny Cage. Omniman was stupid too because damage and tracking but I’ve since learned to fight Omni man.
