Homersfield Lake in Suffolk is noted for it's huge Roach and this trip before Christmas 2023 did not disappoint as I captured some Monster Redfins on film. It is nearly Christmas so my Son in Law Andy Wilson and I have booked a week at Homersfield in the lodge (my third stay) to target the big roach and carp. Also check out another Fishing Tail Film video 'Bagging Up On Roach at Homersfield' which was also filmed during our stay. • Bagging up on PLUMP RO...

Those roach are huge, not sure we will encounter the size you have there up in Loch Lomond. One man can dream.

They are impressive and that lake has recently produced 4lbs Roach which is incredible. Thank you for watching. What size do the Perch go to in Loch Lomond? Love my Perch fishing as well

@@fishingtailfilms what's the score for day tickets ect , I'm up in east lancashire, a trek but aside the ribble fish like that are pipe dreams I would like to go there with my dad n Lad for a chance of a three ! N throw in marsh farm for a big crusian to .tho I presume there would be a few good waters for them around homersfeild .

@@stephenhollinrake916 The only way to Fish Homersfield is be a syndicate member or stay in the lodge on site. I have listed their website on the description under the video it gives all the details and contacts on there. I hope that helps Stephen

the lake is 10 minutes from my house, Ive been a member twice over the years, once when I was a teenager in the late 70's to about 1980, caught scores of 2lb Roach then float fishing with my Dad and I joined again for the Carp fishing in the late 90's until the early 2000's, I did catch 2x3lb Roach on Carp gear so they don't really count, 3-9 and 3-2 plus scores of 2's again, the 2nd swim you fished is called 100 hours if memory serves, i fished that swim a lot back in the day and caught lots of Carp and Cats, biggest Cat was 52lb odd from that very swim

Hi Mark, one of the swims is 100 hours No2 so you are right on that. I believe it had very big Perch in the lake many years ago. The Roach are incredible and my search for a 3 goes on. Well done on your catches from Homersfield

I also filmed this video whilst at Homersfield where I had a session on the waggler fishing for the roach which was uploaded 2 weeks ago ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m8a2qDcz840.html

I would rather catch big roach than carp any day. I tried in Scotland for years in the 90's and my best was only 1lb 15oz. One day I might start a new campaign. Really enjoyed this video. Tight lines

Thank you KeefsCattys pleased you enjoyed the video. Did you fish Lochnaw in Scotland for the Roach? I fished it back in 2018 but no joy
@KeefsCattys
@KeefsCattys 7 месяцев назад
I never did. I was mainly fishing Dumfries area. I spent so much time looking for little areas of gravel in the weeds at Lochmaben ( I had perch up to 3lb 6oz) from there, then found a few areas on Loch Ken that were good if you fished bigger worm baits and fed chopped worm. Therer were other spots too. Scotland is hard to find those big fish, but if you want lots around the 3/4 to 1lb mark its brilliant .@@fishingtailfilms

The biggest roach I've seen in Scotland was a dead one I found in the Union canal back in about 1997 near Ratho . Well in excess of 2lb . I used to try to stalk them with flake , but they were so shy .

I use the Greys Twin Specialist 1.25 test curve, they come with 3 quivertips as well, coupled up nicely with Shimano X Aero 6000RA reels

I enjoyed the fishing ... but the music is just so unnecessary in my opinion... it seems a lot of YT anglers these days feel the need to blast us with what they deem as suitable music when in fact most of us are here for the fishing !!...shocking, I know ?.. 🙄😂 (Just my 2cents, I'm sure others would disagree.. & thats okay too !) anyhoo, a sub and a like , lads🤗 Thank you for the effort you put into entertaining us .. for free , no less !! From the Emerald Isle 😎👍☘️🍺

Thank you Peter for your feedback which is welcome. Being as it was near Christmas I thought I would play some festive music to fit in with the season of joy. Thank you for your like and sub which is great.

Adding music can help with the story telling of the video, it can also mask, sound issues, like wind rattling through the mic, which is alot worse to listen to than the music.

Shame you have to catch them like that. I 'd want to catch them on a slider with a rod that gave them a chance to put up a fight.

I prefer the float as well Terry in fact I had a day on the waggler which is another video I uploaded 2 weeks ago. The big Roach tend to feed on the gravel bars anything between 12 wraps or further out so the mini specialist approach is the way to go. Thankfully my biggest Roach came on running pole float tactics a few years ago on a Cotswold venue that is currently closed. That was caught right under my rod tip.
