Passenger vehicles (PV) reported a 4% growth in year-on-year (YoY) dispatches during June this year. While certain carmakers posted muted growth, others like Mahindra & Mahindra and Toyota Kirloskar posted growth owing to pent-up demand. Currently, the PV stocks in the dealerships across the country stand at over 55 days. Considering the high inventory, discounts have been on a rise across most models. Two wheeler retail sales were on a decline during June. Demand momentum for the industry is expected to pick up August onwards. Experts suggest an asset-light business model could to drive electric two-wheeler adoption in the country and support for strong hybrids in FAME-III will be helpful going forward.
