When my Daughter was just ten Moody blues announced they would be playing a concert at the Columbia river gorge amphitheater in Washington state and broadcasting it live. I was from Seattle but had moved my self and my Daughter to Alaska where most of Family where from to get her Proper Schooling. I was just going to have some friends over and let her invite a friend to stay the night but then her Mom Who was in the USMC and deployed overseas was due to go to California for training and was going to try and come by and see us for a day. Well we talked and chose to make a three say holiday of it meeting up in Seattle, we would drive to a motel by the river and go to the concert as a Family. We spent the entire day picnicking and exploring the Gorge around the amphitheater then enjoyed the concert. It was Magical and My Daughter not only got an appreciation for there music she has passed it on to her kids. There music is timeless and that night was the best in my entire life.

great story. I was able to see them in a very small venue (about 800) so we were all very close and had a wonderful 2 hour show. I had followed them since 1968 and I was thrilled to meet them finally and in such an intimate setting it felt like they were in your living room and you could actually communicate with them. I have worked with and spent time with a number of groups over the years, but this was my personal favorite.

When I was 13, I was sitting in my mom's car before a baseball game waiting for the game before ours to finish so we could play our game. We were listening to the radio and this song came on and I heard it for the first time. I was blown away. I found my lifetime favorite band at that moment and never looked back.

They always had very deep spiritual lyrics to their music, one of the few groups to do that. RIP Ray, we miss you and great y'all finally got into the Hall. Four of the members there were original members of the group. Ray is the flutist who passed a couple of years ago. The Moodies always brought up thought-provoking music and was a calm during the other rock choices storm back in the day.

This is from the 80s Moodies. They started in the 60s as a Psychedelic band. Their first albums are called the called The Core 7. Seven albums in five years. Completely different vibe. I too adore this song & have many deep memories of it & it’s meaning. I’d recommend the live version of Nights In White Satin from the concert at The Royal Albert Hall in London along w The Storey-English spelling-In Your Eyes from the same concert. Nights is so meaningful to so very many people. Too many stories & emotions surrounding it to mention. Everyone has a Nights tale to tell. Storey personifies the longing for a better world & how love can save you. A common theme in their music. The Moodies are a special band with a very special message & unique sound. Their so special to me because my 9 & 12 year older brothers introduced me to them when I six & I bonded with so many dear friends listening to them. They’ve always been both uplifting & a comfort for me. They deserve more attention.

My uncle is a HUGE Moody Blues fan. He’s only 15 years older than me, so I have a lot of his musical influence in my life. He wasn’t into the drug culture of the late 60’s/early 70’s, and the Moody Blues clean lifestyle was a big plus for why he gravitated to their music. He did a lot of painting back then, and he has a few album covers of theirs he re-created (with personal touches) in oil paintings. He had a kidney replacement a few years ago (thank God they caught it early, because he spent nearly six years on the donor recipient list!), so he’s getting back to painting some.

As a young child in the late 1960's, one of the first songs I was drawn to, and is partially responsible for my obsession with music, was the Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin." Now, over a half a century later, I still love their songs and "The Voice" is one of my favorites.

Lord I haven't heard this in forever!!! Love the sound and lyrics of the Moody Blues. I never had an opportunity to see them perform but I sure wish I had.💔 The lyrics of songs is always left to interpretation but I think of it as a story and a prayer. The ONLY time I sing is when I'm driving AND there's no one on the road but me. LOL I can't sing a note to save my life! LYRICS: Won't you take me back to school I need to learn the golden rule Won't you lay it on the line I need to hear it just one more time Oh, oh, won't you tell me again Oh, oh, can you feel it? Oh, oh, won't you tell me again, tonight Each and every heart it seems Is bounded by a world of dreams Each and every rising sun Is greeted by a lonely one Oh, oh, won't you tell me again Oh, oh, can you feel it? Oh, oh, won't you tell me again, tonight Tonight 'Cause out on the ocean of life my love There's so many storms we must rise above Can you hear the spirit calling As it's carried across the waves? You're already falling It's calling you back to face the music And the song that is coming through You're already falling The one that it's calling is you Make a promise, take…

When this album came out, many people, I believe, thought that the Moodies days of Top Ten Hits were long gone. They had been working solo from about 1975-1978, and their 1979 album Octave had no big hits. When this album came out in 1981 with its soaring and electrifying sound, it blew up the charts. They had another run of hits in the eighties and early nineties: Gemini Dream, Wildest Dreams, and I Know You're Out There Somewhere (my favorite hit from that period). They are a wonderful group. Check out their beautiful nighttime outdoor concert at Red Rocks with an orchestra. Its a beautiful show. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zlBZJIlh3i0.html

I think this song is about addiction, rehabilitation, and ultimately,...redemption. "You're already falling", he wants to give up and go get high. "Understand the voice within", that voice that you have to fight with in order to stay straight. "Each and every rising sun is greeted by a lonely, lonely one", for every one who rises up from the abyss that is addiction, another is falling in. "How many words have I got to say", and also "Won't you tell me again tonight?", seem like a twelve step program to me. (You are supposed to talk to the group about your addiction(s) and the pain you caused,...and suffered.) Also, the repetitiveness and the fact that it's "tonight", have some bearing due to the very nature of NA & AA meetings, the majority of which take place at night. "Can you hear the spirit calling?" Classic AA, more focus on spirituality than on a specific God. Believe me, been there, done that. Just my opinion of course. 🤔

The other thing I'd say about The Moody Blues is they are one of the best album bands ever. Their first 7 albums are great and their first 4 may be the best "first 4 albums by a band" ever. This coming from a musician and lover of Steely Dan, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin... The true difference with The Moody Blues is this - Some bands like Pink Floyd will take you on an incredible journey. They are the best at taking you where they want you to go. The Moody Blues take you where YOU want to go. It's your journey. I hope that makes sense.

I have a Moody Blues story for you. This is 100% real. You probably won't believe that after reading, and I'm not sure how much I want to share because I know it sounds crazy but I can't deny I saw and felt what I did. I had....shall we say....an experience. No it wasn't drugs or alcohol related. What happened was, I had a moment where I was not in my body, I found myself in a place made of light and never felt so good. I walked around and I saw many things. I started in a lower level, where I saw long tunnels with small, kinda funny and pathetic looking creatures locked in tiny rooms. Looking closer at them I saw that they were angry, spiteful little things the size of small dogs. Then I continued up to a higher place, and I began to feel even better than before, better than I'd ever felt. I saw a kingdom atop a mountain, and as I rose up to it I saw many gardens, and a large room with a table, it looked almost like an observatory, but instead of looking upwards at a night sky, I was looking into what looked like an entire universe. I stepped outside that room, and boom! White light brighter than the sun was all around me, and I dropped to my knees. I knew instantly I was in the presence of someone with unimaginable power, not necessarily a man or woman per se, but a being of light and pure love, and I never wanted to leave. And as if to send me a message, I heard music, the guitars and the drums and everything only it was without any lyrics, and I loved it. Then the moment was over, and I was forever changed. The next few weeks I kept trying to play the song I heard on my guitar. I was obsessed with it. I played the main simple melody that played though the song. Then my dad overheard me playing and he said "oh that's the Moody Blues, nice song that" I was like "what, really?" He said "yeah, I have the album". He played it, and my jaw hit the floor, it was the song, exactly what I heard before. I could hardly believe it. And then lyrics started, and I almost cried when I heard the first words. "The day we meet again, I'll be waiting there, I'll be waiting there for you". In times when I'm at my lowest, I hear the last lyrics of the song, " hold on baby don't let go" and I find a little strength. That's the story of the first time I heard "the day we meet again" by the moody blues. It's all real.
