double block rig it. sling/ block/ ring on the piece, rope goes thru, then the end is terminated up top. send piece, it gets to the ground, untie the terminated end, pull the rope back up. sling remains on the rigged piece, you have your rope back (if that all makes sense). does change the forces, friction & rate the rope has to move to achieve the same run tho
