You had to be a kid of the 80's. Most kids of the 80's loved this and it is a classic in the black community. Vanity was fresh off her turn with Prince. All the Motown artists. The villians were over the top but the fight scenes still hold up. its just hits different not having seen this as a kid.

I know it's a B movie but I can't let u diss the last dragon that's my childhood nostalgia,& it's funny you said is this a live action anime, well the whole concept of super Saiyan is a ripoff of last dragon, especially beginning of ssj Goku vs Frieza, also in the matrix when neo knows he's the one,that fight scene where did you think it came from

"I don't even know what's happening right now..." Going into Last Dragon with no context is a lot... 😅 It's produced by motown legend Berry Gordy (hence the music), as an homage to the kung-fu exploitation movies of the 70's. The little kung fu kid is Ernie Reyes Jr (his dad is one of the stunt men in the big finale fight) who is adorable at this age (also in Red Sonja), and grows into quite the martial artist (Surf Ninjas, TMNT 2, The Rundown)

Love the Last Dragon!! The lead of this movie had no acting background, but they specifically wanted someone black(African-American) who was a trained Martial Artist. The actor did a few bit roles, after this, but he mainly kept to fight training/teaching, and still does to this day. It's a very cheesy movie, but it meant a lot to us, and brought black and Asian cultures together. Also, at the time, let's just say, the roles given to us, as black people, were far and few in between, and most of the roles were negative stereotypical black characters, but it's all casting people were looking for. So this movie was a step up from that for the time. It's very culturally specific, but everyone can enjoy it.

Sho Nuff!! There were a few shows that morphed out of the weekly dance party shows like Soul Train. They became top ten videos of the week shows (some times with local dancers) for the non cable tv people. Remember cable was new and not everyone could afford it. My friends and I would watch Friday Night Videos because our families couldn't afford cable. More often we would sleep over at friends houses who did have cable (like 6 to 10 of us). It was even better when we could stay at the homes that had movie channels. This was also when MTV was in it's infancy. They actually showed music videos all the time.

Bruce Lee wore the same yellow jumpsuit in his last movie "Game of Death" in Hong Kong, during filming he got an offer from a U.S. producer to film "Enter the Dragon". Bruce was born in San Fransisco and his lifelong dream was to shoot a movie in America, so he left "Game of Death" unfinished and went to film there "Enter the Dragon", finished it, but before he had a chance to return to HK, he died. "Game of Death" was finished by a replacement. The jumpsuit scenes Bruce did film are the scenes of the climax, therefore, "Leroy" wears them here, as a symbol of the best scenes from "Game of Death". As for the story of this movie... YES, it is cheesy, simple and pretty silly. The martial arts, however, are quite good.

The opening scene was all practical. They really shot arrows at Taimak and he chopped them out of the air and caught the arrow in the first try.
@ReymundoCortez
@ReymundoCortez 4 месяца назад
So Bruce Leroy is played by Taimak who was not an actor he and Ernie Reyes ( the martial arts kid) were martial artists that tried acting. Most martial arts movies in the 70s, 80s and 90s had actual martial artist as actors. So the acting wasnt good but moves were on point. Nowadays you have actors pretending to know how to fight.

Hi Kay!🙂This is a tough film to react to, with it being heavily laced with music. It reminds me of the TV show "Solid Gold" that would count down the top 10 hits and have dancers. The film had its share of bad luck with actress Vanity (Laura) dying at 57 and Julius Carry (Sho'nuff) dying at 56.

@ericjanssen394
@ericjanssen394 Год назад
Actually, it was a kid at the popularity of Bruce Lee in the inner-city grindhouse theaters, when black audiences could flock to the local Chinatown kung-fu theaters, and regular theaters constantly re-released Enter the Dragon for its cult audience. Consider this the big screen version of Carl Douglas's "Kung Fu Fighting" song.
